My mom was getting upset that I knew more bones than her and I've been using it to tease her. If I wasn't afraid of videotaping myself I would record what happens so you could laugh with us.
It would be hilarious to hear such a stoner voice say such sciency words.
You should see me in the physical science lab. I'm at school at 6:30 am so I'm still sleepy and I'm usually wearing lots of layers and a beanie. I get the sciency stuff done but I look and sound like I don't know what the hell I'm doing.
Also since this is the health thread...have you been running?
I have! Not as much as I did last year but 40-50 minutes (almost) every weekday. Alternating between sprinting and jogging. That's code for... jogging and then sometimes some slightly swifter jogging. Followed by walking.
Then some laying down and crying.
It wears me out is what I'm saying.
It wears me out is what I'm saying.
That's good. At least someone/thing is making you cry when I'm not around.
Your constant desire to dominate me confuses my feelings. Do I want to run away or stay and make out? I don't know!
Come, find solace in my arms. I shall protect you from the wild Mexican woman.
Fano just wants to be around for all the action.
Yes.
I only managed to get to the pool once last week, but I did go on a bike ride yesterday. I only cycled 4 miles but having no gears made it really tiring.
I need to up my game this week!
Also random anatomy phrase of the day: deltoid tuberosity
anterolateral side of the humerous. I had a test on that 4 weeks ago.
Yup, yup. I have my Anatomy Lab and Lecture Exams next week
The histology section was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be but now I'm forgetting all the bone structures! Too much information. So far I've been kicking ass on the practice lab quizzes so we'll see how I do. Today I couldn't even say the names of the features like carotid canal and I forgot coronoid process on the mandible. Thank god for my Spanish skills though otherwise I probably would barely remember any of the bones. One of my favorites: Lacrimal bone and today on the quiz Ala of the sacrum.fuck the lacrimals. AND FUCK THE SPHENOID. that piece of shit butterfly bone was the bane of my existence.
I also accidentally labelled the mental foramen as the mandibular foramen on the last test and looked silly.
we're on hands and feet currently as far as features, and paleopathology during lecture. I seriously could see myself doing osteology, specifically primate osteology in the future.
I know that wasn't relevant to working out so:
I went dancing for a few hours last night for my roommate's birthday. lemme tell ya, them gays can really get down. seriously, there is not a more fun place to dance than a gay club. except maybe in my underwear in my bedroom to shakira.
I feel like I'm getting a lot stronger. the walk to campus is such a breeze now that I've started running/jogging regularly.
“if you want to be a bird,” you said once, “with colorful plumage and buoyant trills, you must also be ready for hollow bones."
Well my 8 days of stretching and intensive exercising paid off. Not only am I a whole kilo slimmer than last Saturday, I was also in great shape today.
As for the ultrasound, my insides are great. Apparently my uterus "looks perfect". That still doesn't mean I want a baby making its crib in there.

Awesome at all of that! ^5

I know the hands and feet like the back of my manus. Yeah the Sphenoid is a trip, I hate all the foramen on it but the only bones I'm still kinda having issues with are the vertebrae cuz I haven't really sat down to learn the features.
Didn't get to workout today because my mom is sick and I got off of class late. Tomorrow I definitely plan on hitting the gym.
I started a super intensive program for the gluteal muscles and it damn hurts! I also realised I need a mattress or something, cause I slip on my floor.

we're starting the tarsals and metatarsals today. some of those bones look the goddamn same.

In your class you have to identify each bone individually right? That's the only reason I could see how it would be difficult to differentiate. We're starting superficial layers of muscle this week. We ripped the pectoral muscles off our cat! ugh well not completely off but we messed them up.
Also I haven't been to the gym in almost two weeks
I miss it so much but my mom had to go and get me sick!
See, here's the thing about health and dieting when it comes to me. Around the middle of the month, I get this sudden spark of motivation and vow to eat healthy and work out at least twice a week. It lasts for about two or three weeks, and then one day my mother brings home chocolate cheesecake or some other form of kryptonite and I completely break down. "Dammit, it's cheesecake. I'm only 16, why should I be depriving myself of such scrumptious luxurious? Three slices please."
I am weak. Oh well.
(May I add that I usually end up regretting my decision minutes afterwards.)
the reuptake inhibitors have failed and self-destruction is all you've got left.
You're 16! You don't need to diet. Just exercise and stay active. Unless you are overweight than yeah don't over eat.
Also guys, I gained weight! Finally. I'm on my way.

Well, being overweight is pretty much inevitable in my family, and I am already about 15 pounds overweight. So I do want to shed that weight and maintain a healthy diet. But i'm not losing any of it in an unhealthy way. I'm just trying to exercise and eat well. Even if I tend to mess it up at the end of every month, haha.

Set your goal at a number of consecutive weeks, working out at least three times a week for a week to count. That way when you eat the cheesecake you know you've still got the momentum of a worked out, high metabolism body, with growing muscle burning more calories every, even sleeping, hour.
And make your mom aware of something she can pick up for you, that she knows you like, that's at least moderately healthy.
today I did yogalates. it was pretty cool.
“if you want to be a bird,” you said once, “with colorful plumage and buoyant trills, you must also be ready for hollow bones."
I took a nap.
Is that healthy?
I had another venti frappaccino. not healthy

Great advice Dan!
I 2nd this totally. People get thrown off course by making a small mistake. You can take little detours along the way, just don't make them the habit. Just keep your focus on the bigger picture.
Is that healthy?
Yes, it helps you regenerate cells and let's your body recover.
Abs should be everyday!
I really miss the gym
Also learning muscles and it's cool knowing what muscles I've been working out and realizing how they function.
The serratus anterior looks so cool and I like writing latissimus dorsi

We also had to separate the shoulder muscles today. Fun stuff.
Every day, really? My pt focuses on a different group of muscles each session. I do things like bicycles, crunches and planks each session, but that's always mixed in with the hard core stuff. There's no way I could focus on abs the way I do on ab day EVERY session. That would mean no rest period for those muscles and I'd be spending two hours in the gym for each session!
I'll ask my pt about it but I totally trust him.
This is my pt:

Well yeah you can't do intense ab workouts everyday and you have to take into consideration that you are working out your abs while doing your other workouts. But abs are the one muscle region that you target everyday. Personally I do different ab workouts everyday instead of one intense ab day. Your PT knows what he's doing though even if he's orange sometimes.

Yeah, I think that my main problem is consistency. I found this pretty good nutrition plan that's healthy yet doesn't deprive me of any desserts as long as I exercise.
Thanks!

I walked home from work last night for the first time. It took just under an hour. It's not a very pleasant walk as you have to walk through lots of grim East London estates but it's good exercise and will be handy when all hell descends during the Olympics.
The serratus is such a cool looking muscle group. And it's mostly neglected by people in the gym. You should try and choose at least one of the following and add 3 sets of 12-15 to your program:
Either:
- Dumbbell Pullovers (added to chest day)
- Barbell or EZ Bar Pullovers (added to back day)
- Straight Arm Pulldowns (added to back day)
Developing them really completes your physique. They tie the abs to the lats nicely.
I started packing my breakfast to eat in the car and quit going to Dunkin' Donuts every morning befor work--lost four pounds in a week!
Oh my god. Can you describe it? In interpretive dance form, if possible. Or words, whatever.

I liked it a lot, there were yoga poses but it involved more movement. repeating floor work at your own pace.
for instance
down dog > cobra > cat pose > begin alternating leg and arm lifts at our own pace
does that make sense? we'd also use the exercise balls for stability.
I went running but it was hot so I only went for like 20 minutes. the guy who teaches zumba keeps bugging me to come tonight because there's this zumbathon thing for the american cancer society so I think I may go to that. I'm such a pushover

Went on a hike yesterday with a buddy that i haven't hung out with or seen in forever. I like that this trail is literally down the street from my house, I just wish I had someone to go with everyday. I should have taken a picture eh.. oh well. I finally got some exercise in this week and got to catch up with a good friend. Two birds with one stone, yeaah.
I finally made it back to the gym and it feels good. I didn't do much today.
I did some leg presses which worked out my: rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and biceps femoris.
I'm sure there were more that were worked out I just don't want to give you guys a headache. Fucking muscles are killing me more than the bones right now.
Also I exceeded a personal best today. I added about 25 lbs to the leg presses. Felt good. I probably could've added more weight but I didn't want to overdo it my first day back.
When I run more than usual these hard little round things seem to pop up on/around my right knee cap. I think they're calcium deposits or something. Whatever it is, it hurts like Hell and it seems that working out only exacerbates it. Does anyone know what I can do about this? I'm not going to the doctor because that's a waste of time and money. I'll just learn how to run with one leg if I have to.
Also there's like, a buzzing noise?
The doctor says I've almost put on 7lbs since this time last year. Pretty cross at myself, but I suspected it. I think it's time to buy some scales.
I've been meaning to share this with y'all...one of my favorite articles from last year when I was researching/learning about how to accomplish the goals I set for myself.
I liked the part where they pointed out that these two have about the same body fat percentage.

Yeah, it's a good article. I've read a few articles like that one.
Cool article Alecia. It pretty much pinpointed "my type". Makes me feel better about what I'm doing at the gym and I'm trying to get my mom on board with doing more weights instead of cardio all the time.
Yesterday I added a lot more weight on a few of the machines. I definitely can feel myself getting stronger which feels great. I'm pretty sore today but I'm excited that I'm back to hitting the gym.
I worked on biceps, deltoids, trapez, lats, obliques, abs, and quads. Ended with some cardio.
Jaz, I wish we could work out together sometime. We'd seriously throw down some weight and kick its ass. I love it when I step it up to the next heavy - the first set I feel like "omg too heavy...not gonna complete my sets...no way", and then when I push myself and finish the very last one and I can say HELL YEAH I JUST DID THAT.
Yeah, I feel such a sense of accomplishment. I seriously don't even think I've pushed my limits that much yet because I'm being overly cautious of not hurting myself or being sore to the point where I can't walk to the bus stop and make it to my classes(I have to go up 3-4 flights of stairs and hills everywhere). I would seriously like someone to work out with it's kind of hard when someone isn't at the same level you are though. Same level as in motivation and capability. I get my mom to do certain things here and there( I got her hooked to the ab solo and I think she kicks my ass at that now) but she's not as committed to other workouts in which I need someone else there to help me. A big part of that is also the crowd at the gym, she doesn't want to go in certain areas with all the dudes, which I understand. I'm not a fan of working out by myself around all the super buff dudes that live at the gym. I don't mind if I have someone with me though(buddy system).
I'm happy you know what I mean about the buzzing because I felt like everyone would tell me that's the noise of my crazy leaking out from my joints.
They're like half the size of a pea at best, though they're all different. I don't know if they're cysts, there's like 3 million of them. They go away until I start being really active then they come back.
