It's really cool to be able to talk to one of your idols. Every time I somehow get a hold of somebody I look up to, I'm blown away at how nice and accessible they are. Obviously it's different if your idol is Brad Pitt.

And talking to them makes them more real. It makes their achievements seem that much more doable for you.

Frank Zane doesn't care about Brad Pitt. Fucking Frank Zane. Look at that name. They named him that and he immediately morphed into a 64 year old man with that exact head.

I exchanged a few emails with an environment activist/journalist/writer that I admired a lot, mostly around the time I took him an interview, he was very down-to-earth and when we met at an event he was hosting, a couple of years after we stopped emailing each other, he said "Hello, Irina." That was very heart-warming, to see that he remembered my name.

I find that much muscle grotesque, but I admire the dedication.

Boyfriend says I am noticeably thinner after a month without cake and candy and more exercise. I can't see it yet. I still hate jogging, even though I know it's doing me good. I am also looking forward to starting my Tai Chi/Qi Gong journey tonight!

Upon waking up this morning, I was 91 kg. Which is really fucking great, not only because I'm losing weight (at a fairly good pace), but also because after I came back from vacation, I was eating a bit poorly. Now, I'm sure that after lunch, I'll be back up to 93kg or something, but I've always measured my progress based on when I first wake up, so this is good.

I feel like I didn't fully explain my excel sheet. You just have to type your weight in the red box and it gives you numbers for everything depending on your goals.

Your daily requirements of protein, carbs, and fat. And your requirements by meal depending if you want to eat 3 or 4 times a day (and if it's a workout day or not).

Congrats to you all. As for me I'm slacking Unsure It's so difficult with my schedule, running around at the restaurant I just want to go home and sleep. I need my car so I can go to the gym whenever I want, go home sooner than the two and a half hour bus ride. Blegh! I need to get strong and it's not easy and I need to just do it!

This week has been an off week. But I don't like taking a week fully off. So I stayed to the same exact routine and just used half the weight and same amount of reps on everything. So basically just going to the gym to go through the motions and sweat a bit.

We went to dinner last night and had seafood for an early just the two of us V-Day dinner, and we're going out to eat as a family tonight. I had to put in double time yesterday and today at the gym so I won't feel "bad" about all the unhealthy junk I'm eating. It's worth it, though!

That's one of the reasons I work out so hard (and eat so healthy most of the time) - that way I can eat my favorite foods when I go out. Or I can go to ihop on the weekends.

I think I pushed it a little too hard doing squats and lunges yesterday because I'm moving around like an 80 year old this morning. I gotta do it, though, because I'm approaching 40 in a few years and I don't want my ass to drop to the back of my knees before it has to. I think I'll take it easy and just focus on cardio today. That'll work out the pain for me.

My stomach muscles and sides are still aching from Monday. The Qigong moves aren't exactly tiring but the warm-up stretches we do are!

I hate the pain on your knees when doing girl push-ups, even on a yoga mat. Maybe this just shows how unfit I am. Unsure

Don't lift your feet into the air. Just get in normal push-up position and lower your knees. It's easier on your knees that way. And it allows you to try and get a few regular push-ups in if you're feeling stronger.

Good for you, Jaz Smile

Hattie, have you ever tried planking? It's not just an internet meme! Smile Big I used to have a hard time with "regular" push ups, but once I started planking, it developed my core and made me stronger and able to hold a regular push up position. They suck at first, but if you start with 30 second intervals, you'll build your way up to a minute in no time.

Keep at it!

Also, do push-ups off of stuff to make them easier. Do push-ups with your hands on a chair seat and your feet on the floor. When you get good at that, get a lower bench or something to put your hands on. Then maybe the bottom step on a set of stairs.

I eat like one or twice a day during the week since school and work started. I'm just not hungry until well into the afternoon anymore. I've lost weight but I look and feel like shit most of the time. I like running so I do that sometimes. I'm going to try to eat better and more often.

I was supposed to go early to the gym today but I got home way too late last night. The goal, now that I have a car, is to go to the gym before class or after work from now(when I can drive) on. Can't wait to be able to go to the gym at what ever hour I fucking want, fuck yeah!

That's great, Jaz. What's your new ride? Smile

My Qigong workout tonight was sub-par. Unsure I've got a cold at the moment so I don't think I'll be doing much swimming/jogging this week either.

Going to try and do some exercises (press ups, qigong stuff) in my flat this week instead.

Thanks Hattie Smile I got a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am. I haven't been able to drive it other than when I went to buy it but I love it already. I'm itching for the freedom.

I had the same car, but I'd be surprised if jes felt the same way considering the condition I kept it in. The stereo was pretty sick though, thanks to my brother who originally owned it. That car was my first and only accident, before I could legally drive the thing.

The stereo is obviously the most important part.

My first automobile accident also occurred before I had a licence. I was a classic drive/reverse mix up. I (relatively gently!) ran into a very sturdy building instead of backing up. I ended up getting a job in the building that I hit a year later though. I chalk it up to having joined my soul with the wall.

Officially down 20 lbs from the beginning of January. Still about 10-20 lbs more than I want to be, but it's definitely a good start.

I've gained a bit of mass over the winter. Now it's time to start cutting more. I'll be cutting carbs back a bit and upping my protein.

I think I'll start posting my workouts every once in a while. Lately I go to the gym with 3 lifts in my mind. And those are the lifts I'll do every week. I've been keeping them around 3 Sets of 6 Reps. From there, I add whatever I feel like. On my extra lifts - every set goes to failure. And rest periods are shorter. I want to get my heart-rate going pretty good because I rather skip cardio if I can. I treat the weights like HIIT - which has been found to burn way more calories than steady state cardio ever could.

I destroyed legs Saturday. It was awesome.

Squats - 3 set warm-up, 3 sets of 6 reps
Leg Presses - 3 sets of 8 reps, then triple drop sets all until failure
Heavy Step-Ups - 3 Sets of 15, 10, 10 - last set goes straight into (with no rest)
Walking Lunges until I couldn't do any more
- at this point I had to crawl to the corner and sit for like 10 minutes -
Heavy Romanian Deadlifts - 3 Sets of 6 reps
- supersetted with -
Hyperextensions - 3 sets of 10
Leg Curls 3 sets of 8
- supersetted with -
1 Leg Stiff-Leg Deadlifts bodyweight 3 sets until failure
straight into a body weight hamstring exercise that I forget the name of. The one where you lay on the ground and it looks like you're humping the air. I did those I couldn't do any more.
- I then had to take another break until I could get up to go and change -

So that's a day in the gym with Pete. More to come. Smile

Thanks you two!! Smile It really just goes to show that unless you have the unfortunate situation of having a very slow metabolism, like my friend, it takes a lot of unnecessary eating to stay overweight. I feel like my body just started getting rid of all the crap as soon as I started eating better.

That's really impressive you lost nearly a stone and a half, Fano! (I can't get used to lbs). Especially from not doing much exercise.

When I went to the hospital they took my weight and i'd gone down a few kgs since my last check-up but it's probably only about half a stone. I need to get some scales, but weighing myself makes me feel depressed. I swear if I had average sized boobs that'd knock another stone off.

Thanks, Hattie! And hey, a half a stone a still a half a stone!! You should be glad that you made progress! And I have a scale, because it has always helped me stay on track, but if you don't like them, don't use them. As for the boobs... lol. I'm sorry. I'm sure the boyfriend loves them, though.
