Anyway thanks a lot for your well wishes guys, it was a good birthday. My work didn't really know it was my birthday even though I brought a cake in (it's a weird office tradition) but I was glad in a way. The Vietnamese restaurant was really nice and they were excellent hosts. One of the waiters moved my hair out of my face as I was blowing out the candles because he thought I was going to go up in flames! Oh and I got cool presents and best of all, no hangover! (Last year I spent most of my birthday with my head in a toilet).

Hmmm, bringing in cake on your birthday is not common in the UK? Not everyone does it in Norway, but where I lived in The Netherlands you kind of couldn't get away with not doing it.
I think it should be your work team bringing in the cake, I mean it's your birthday! Then again, I think it does serve as a reminder for them..."Oh it's your birthday?!" *quickly goes to buy a big ugly card from Hallmark for all your colleagues to sign*
