Godspeed, You Black Emperor!
Well, I just saw them last night, and I must say they put on an absolutely amazing show. I wasn't a huge fan before seeing them, I mean, I liked them, but wasn't that into them. But seeing them play live, wow, it just blew me away.
I'd honestly have to say it was the most beautiful experience of my life. Of course, that probably says more about my life than it does about the band. Anyway, they're great, if you get the chance, make sure you see them. You won't regret it, I promise. When they build up those crescendos... it's just overwhelming. So immense and powerful, it's great.
If you want, look for the song Dead Flag Blues by them on Kazaa or something...
GY!BE is boring.

Listening to their CDs and such is kinda boring to me, too, but seeing them live was amazing.
i discovered them thanks to sigur rós just recently. yeah, they're really good. amazing sounds, what can i say.
i can imagine how boring it may seem to some people. i mean, you really have to concentrate on the music and just go with it. you know, just let go and feel it, not just hear it. float on the soundwaves. patience and understanding are the keys here.
btw, disx and others - what do you think about sigur rós? they're quite well known in the states now aren't they?

I think they are, not really sure. I don't really keep up with how well known bands are here. Although, I guess they must be getting some good notice, because they're playing at the Aerial Theatre at the end of this month. (One of those huuuuuuge places, as opposed to some little club that most bands I see play at.)
But yeah, they're really wonderful. Have you heard of Múm? They're also from Iceland and quite good.
oh my god. i love Múm. also one of my favourites.
i'm so glad someone other than me knows and likes Múm
hehe

Haha. I heard "Now There's That Fear Again" on Rice radio and had to check 'em out. Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records is probably my favorite song of theirs, next to Fear.

Sigur Ros is also really boring, although theres a good video by them, that just came out.

hooray for godspeed! i am going to see them in about a week and i cannot wait!
i just did a "fake" interview w/ sigur ros for my radio show. they sent in this cd where they answered questions and then i recorded me asking them. and everyone totally bought it! fools!
Godspeed is great!
Sigur Ros is quite cool as well, although I've only heard () and some of the Mogwai stuff.
Mum is ok, I haven't heard a lot of them though.
Oh man, Mogwai might just be the most boring of the three. I'd rather read the bible.

Yeah, I'm not a big Mogwai fan.
your name's good though.

the signatures add personality to members of the Cult. and it's easier to remember who's who if, in addition to a name, there's a signature and a picture.
it shouldn't disturb you that much. i mean, no one forces you to read the 'quotes and anecdotes' over and over again. and they're easy to distinguish from the rest of the text - the signature stands separately under a line.
is all.

Look out, there's a genius in our midst.
hey, at least i'm trying, right?

I was talking about BIOTCH.
The name alone, leaves no doubt in my mind.
Be. Otch.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! No sir
NO!
Back to the steakhouse, buddy.
PRETEND YOUR ORANGES!
*quickly sits down and rolls around on the floor*
Exactly.
Orange baby meringue.
Mmmm.
If I wasn't tied to this here JAR OF DOOM!!!!, I would go right about and row my fucking boat.
How many babys can you fit in a cookie jar?
A pair of scissors.
Well, that depends on who, or what, is nawing at my libosuction.

You're right. Those guys KFA, i.e. Kick Fucking Ass. I have a copy of "lift yr. skinny fists like antennas to heaven" and I listen to it fairly regularly.
Check out Autechre and Tortoise, if you haven't already.
