It's cute and I like it more because it's made of that fabric they used to be made of when I was a baby.

That's cool, it says it's an old German design.

I had one with the same design, too. Not the same colours, though, I didn't have very bright-coloured clothes until I was around 3 and we started importing more.
See what I mean?

No, we had colour cameras, remember the beack monkey picture? That was taken during the same holiday as this one. Colour film were pretty expensive for a few years, but starting 1994 or 1995 all my family's pictures are in colour.

Starting in 94 or 95? That totally blows my mind.

Well, we were almost completely isolated before 1989. The stores were almost empty, commodities were limited, like you had the right to 2 lbs of sugar, a certain number of eggs (less than 30), etc every month. Everyone got food on some sort of food stamps, there was virtually no meat, no other tv channels than the national one, light could go off at any time without notice, you sometimes found toilet paper in the stores if you were lucky and you had to give a certain amount of milk, meat, eggs and cereal to the state (if you lived in the country), I don't know what those who lived in the cities had to give, because my parents only moved to Bucharest in 1987. So yeah, it took us a few years to get stuff like colour films and tv channels and other newspapers than the Party's.

I still remember when the first Marlboro billboards appeared, I was so charmed.

He meant reality. It's a joke. People like to make the joke that until color tv or color photos were invented, reality was in black and white, because that's the only way we saw it for so long.

Having to explain humor is like dissecting a frog; you might learn from it but it totally makes the frog less funny.

I disagree. Subjectively.

I too often fail to understand regular humor and feel like an idiot when others refuse to explain it, like they are laughing at me instead of wanting to laugh with me. Whereas if I say I do not get something, or make it obvious I do not get it by analyzing it in a non humorous manor, but then someone explains how it was a joke and what the joke was, I then find it funny and appreciate that they didn't laugh at me for not getting it in the first place.

Sort of, social awkward thing- it is made worse if those around refuse to acknowledge. Better if people go, oh hey, you are a little awkward and maybe think in weird ways... that was totally a joke and seeing as you didn't get it we will just explain so you can join in and be the one to initiate the laughter at yourself about not getting it, instead of making you the joke by being arrogant enough to think you don't see you've been made a joke by refusing to explain.

Anyway, I don't think most people in capitalist countries realise how good they have it, even if the poor are multitude, they can still get toilet paper if they can beg or steal a dollar.. or just steal the paper if it is worth it that much.

I had to dissect a frog in December or January and when we cut its stomach open it still had beetles in it. I almost fainted.
Dissecting a frog is totally fucking gross. I could barely do it. I snipped the jaw and that was it. My partners had to do the cutting and removing. And pinning. And observing. And everything.

Last weekend I bought a zip-up hoodie, that I absolutely love. It's really simple, but fits well and is longer than "regular" zip-up hoodies:

EDIT_
I also really wanted this one:

But when I saw it at the store, it was a strange black.. It was kind of dirty and instead of looking cool, it just looked like it hadn't been washed.

I like both of those a lot. A hoodie vest is a cool idea

I got it at Carlings (http://carlings.com/en/). Their clothes tend to be too expensive for me, but that hoodie had a good price. Smile

Ordered this from Modcloth last night and hopefully it will look ok. I'm always scared to order things from there because it's pretty hit and miss.

I also bought these shoes even though they probably won't look right with the dress, I guess, I don't care. Black, sparkly shoes rule.
They're also on sale so there's that.

It's a really pretty colour. I love ModCloth but it's way over my budget, especially with the shipping costs.

I like the shoes (black sparkly shoes, yesss) and the dress, but I would not wear them together.

I like the idea of ModCloth but I'm just not sure I can fully commit to that style of dressing, even though in my mind I'd like to. Some of the stuff on there is so throwback I really don't know who's buying it and wearing it on a day to day basis?

I wasn't originally going to wear them together but I think I can make it work. If I bought the gold or silver shoes that I was going to, I would only wear them once, and didn't want something I would only wear once. So I chose the black.

Some stuff is just atrocious. For me, I either think it's absolutely beautiful or absolutely terrible. I don't even know.

I'd wear those shoes with that dress.

I'd tie in jewelry that matched both the dress and the shoes.

Do you not wear gold? I prefer it to silver. I would really like a rose gold wedding ring one day, sigh.

Until now, I'd never heard of Modcloth. Their swimsuits are awesome!

I used to wear gold when I was younger, up until the 5th grade, I think. After that I switched to silver or silver-coloured jewellery. Now the only golden thing I wear is the Anais Nin necklace from Alecia. I also have a white gold ring from my parents, but that doesn't count because it's still silver-coloured.

Barbara, that's awesome. How formal is it going to be? If it's pretty casual, go for a flowy cocktail dress. Sort of like this

or this

I started taking Biotin and prenatal vitamins for my skin/hair/nails. I started about a week ago and my hair already feels noticably fuller. I dont know how it works but I'm excited.

My hair used to be twice as thick 3 years ago before I got depressed and fucked up my health and got hypoglycemia. I miss those days.

I'm taking Calcium, Magnesium and antioxidants now.

I lived two weeks on tea and a biscuit or a bit of cucumber every day. And then I stopped eating for hours on end and when I was hungry I had crap food (fast food or flour-based food).

I have pretty much this dress in this shade of pink and in black. Sans belt. Both of mine are a bit shorter.

Should I wear the pink one with black tights and boots or the black one with red tights tonight?

I am thinking the pink, as I rely too much on black all the time and I am trying to be more lightheartedly girly/feminine.

I could also switch the lining. Put the black slip lining under the pink or the pink under the black.

I also have grey tights.
