Culties as Art...Sort of
Well, I tried. Twice. Neither look anything like you. The harder I tried the worse they got and I gave up on both before they were finished. It was a real train werck.
Thanks fano, but I'll be passing on that one. There are certain things that make a picture a good subject, such as lighting, angle, pose, etc. And your photo, though lovely in its own right, lacks them all. Thus making it very hard to draw and likely that you will look.... less than lovely in most interpretations.

how about this?

how about this?
i just fell in love all over again.
“if you want to be a bird,” you said once, “with colorful plumage and buoyant trills, you must also be ready for hollow bones."
that's okay. I was hoping for a Jaz or Pep production anyways

Irina Marina!
What have you done!?
I was trying to figure out which dude it was until I read her name.
Seriously!

This drawing was way too easy. I would do the one with the guy with the cereal but I honestly don't want to spend too much time on getting everything proportionate.
As for the picture being a dude, I suppose I could of spent more time on the hair or something but honestly there isn't a lot to go on with that picture other than doing eyelashes and putting in tons of vectors for the hair strands.
Somebody put something up where they are wearing something intricate and have styled hair. I'll spend more than ten minutes on it I swear!
you managed to turn Irina into link from the animated tv series.

he has assburgerss so don't know assume yes?
*clears throat*

Merlot!!!

I chose a different pic of the guy. I still feel like I could of done better...
Screw it, I'll submit this:

I was thinking Fern Gully.

Okay. That we can work with.
This is why we can't have nice things.
This is just a quick 15 minute sketch. Which drives me crazy, of course.

tyler knight, why are you so goddamn hot?

Amazing, Melody. Fuck. 15 minutes. You're incredibly talented at portraiture.
thank you, but that keep me from thinking that drawing is utter shit.

whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooa!! Holy shit that's aamazing
You really did get a pretty great likeness of Alecia for such a quick sketch. And of course the one of Matty is amazzzing.
This thread is great, hopefully I can add something soon. I haven't had a day off in weeks!
I'm working on Miggity McWilly but I'll need some time before I'm sober enough to continue...
Most people need to be drunk when working me.
Oh my, I'm dirty.
You know in all the years I've been here I've never been sigged?
Porn star, hello?
We love you, TK.
This is why we can't have nice things.

All I can think of when I see this is George Takai rappelling down the side of the mountain and landing right by TK.
"Helllooooo."

Grigs, this made me laugh

Another quick one. I used ballpoint pen for the hair on this one cause all this dark hair is eating through my dark pencil.

Ha ha ha, that was funny. That actually is a cliff face that we had to scale down. The photographer is standing up to his waist in the Pacific Ocean. Such a beautiful location...

this is going to be good practice for me cuz i have a hard time doing portraits
I dig how you rendered the eyes highly detailed, but left the right jawline edge soft. Classic use of "lost and found" to draw the viewer into the portrait. This was Rembrandt's great trick.
tyler knight, why are you so goddamn hot?
Ha ha, thanks, but in the interest of full disclosure, that pic was 45 lbs. ago!

OH MY GOD, MELODY!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 I'M STUNNED!

I'm sure it's 45 pounds of pure, unadulterated MAN. hahaha.

Nice job des!
Since you posted a really nice picture of Alecia I hopeif might be amused by my posting my fails. Also really proves your point about lighting and whatnot, I liked both pictures though and wanted to try something a little whaky.
Attempt at a sexy snarly faced alecia that I gave up on
And a kissy faced Alecia I also gave up on when I realised there was no fixing the way I made the angles completely wrong and also had scrunched her face up to be shorter and wider than it is ( actally started doubting whether I was looking at a picture of her at all because of the way my drawing was turning out!)
I can definitely see her in both... a little bit. >.>
Well I'm glad can make you guys laugh.
I haven't been drawing much at all the past year, maybe just little doodles here ever couple of months. I used to draw every morning. I like this thread because it is getting back in the habit.
I used to be pretty good at drawing. I drew a park scene with a clown standing next to a stroller holding a balloon and the baby sticking it's hands out. My little cousin has it, although he's twelve now. I also drew a big bear for my little girl cousin.
I stopped drawing though, so i can't really do much now. I think I could get better again if I practiced, but I don't really have the time or motivation.
I love that snarl face. I think you did a great job pepper.

I'm curious to see if anyone can do anything with this photo.

I'm officially offering my picture for the comparative works thing. You can use it if you want. I call it, 'Cereal Worship'
