i got some deep seeded feeling everyone is going to wake up tomorrow and cuss me out for making them read through all 7 pages of this dreck when in the end we havent really agreed to anything or really even made a relevant point this far

Yes, and it was a helluva a good time. A bunch of us went to Chuck's reading at B&N last May. Had Indian food after and then a cult reading at a bar. anxious phoenix put it all together.

Then my top choice would be New Orleans too. Just to feel part of the recovery effort, celebrating it's return, kinda.

that's how I feel too, like it'll be giving back to it and stuff.

California is too far away for most Cultists. You're talking 1000's of dollars just to get there. Not many people would be able to drive. We are not on the whole a rich bunch. Many Cultists are in school or otherwise lack the funds to make such a trip.

The logical choice is Austin, Texas.

It's close enough that many of us could drive and it would be an equal amount for east and west coasters to fly. There is plenty to do here. We could take over a hotel for a reasonable rate. The bars are great. and everything is close. In LA everything is very spread out. With out a car you're shit out of luck. Austin is a very liberal city. Chuck came here on the Diary paperpack tour and it was fucking packed. Packed. There would be a huge turnout. We could make it a great event. Something much grander than the Midwest Meet UP.

whoops, this thread exploded and I missed your post. Buttered saltines require little to no effort to assemble and serve. It's nice to make your guests feel as if you appreciate them enough to make a little effort. Like peel and slice a cucumber. Cut the crust off the bread. Skin a peach and drizzle some orange blosson water on it and add a couple of sprigs of mint. Nothing spectacular, just putting a little thought and care into the food.

Though I've been known to serve buttered saltines with smoked oysters on them when I've had an unexpected visitor. Very tasty.
