Maybe, just maybe, the "problem" with the Cult is that you guys are so fucking intertwined that it makes reading/ enjoying almost anything on here almost impossible.
I know who most of you are from your avatars. If Des changes her pig to something else, I won't recognize her anymore. (Except for Tuffy, but he's been here forever).
This thread broke down into personal insults REALLY quick, which is fine, that's what this place has always done. Usually around the 4th post or something was a well written point by point post on why the poster was an idiot.
But now it's on a personal level. I could say why the poster is an idiot... but I have NO IDEA why Melody is or is not. I don't know who Melody is. I didn't know that Tuffy left. I didn't know if he had surgery or not or how to contact him on Facebook.
It's really a problem that can't be helped though. What's the alternative? Calling people only by the Login? Switching to an Anon only format?
Also: I only clicked on this thread b/c it has pictures. I can usually understand what's going on there. Or you guys are naked.

If the T-Rex ate pineapples, as the link claims, what was the explanation for the change into a carnivore? Did God just give it sharp teeth all of a sudden... or DID IT EVOLVE THEM?
We are pretty intertwined, but wouldn't it be sort of preposterous to suddenly start pretending like we do not know each other at all and are only talking to anonymous internet handles purely for the sake of having a decent conversation?
That wouldn't be a wholly bad idea. It would be nice if people could let go of their predecided opinions of others and have an objective conversation exchanging ideas now and again. Might learn something. Expand the mind a bit.
You can go to http://boards.4chan.org/lit/ and see how that does and does not work out. Sometimes there's interesting little debates/ conversations that due to the fast pace of the board happen really fast. There's a lot of pointless trolling. sometimes there's porn.
Every forum has a unique culture to it. I've been a recognized regular on five different forums that are all very different in the interactions. Joined and left two or three posts and forgot about dozens of forums. And they were all different if you lurked them too.
The Cult is The Cult. And it will feel different and change and stay the same and everyone will be who they are and will change and stay the same. It just is what it is.

I've changed my avatar like five or six times in the past couple of weeks. I thought I'd blame it on you. For fun. 
I just countered what you said about "everything from nothing" doesn't make sense, and explained that adding an extra step of an infinite complex being doesn't make any more sense, and in fact makes less. If you're gonna use the "we can't possibly know" Descartes-like defense, then you're pretty much saying we can't possibly know anything ever anyway, and that's just not gonna fly in any argument. Arguments are about what it is most likely true, and making a case for it.
