Comic adaptation possible?

Hello everyone, thanks for reading this.

I'm a comics writer/illustrator based in Cleveland, Ohio interested in doing an adaptation of Survivor into comic/graphic novel format. Ideally I'd like to submit this into the contest at DC Comics' Zuda.com site. They've had professional comics illustrators and writers in the competition already but never an adaptation of a novelist's work.

I know that I cannot do this without permission but honestly don't have a clue how to go about it.

Can anyone help? Is this a hopeless venture? Please, any and all information is greatly appreciated. Thanks - Nathan

.

hey, brother nathan !
welcome to the cult !

( i moved this thread to the survivor forum )

i dont think it's a waste of time, if it is something youd like to do
honestly, and i know i'm missing story here, but i dont see that if everything chuck has his name on sales, why are there not graphic novels with his stories at local bookshops.. ?

anyrate. check this section of the site if you havent yet:

http://chuckpalahniuk.net/features/comics

it would be nice to see a third there, particularly survivor
especially if a diehard fan makes it..

again, welcome to the cult

Hey, thanks! Glad to be here.

I'd love to give this a go and do have several sketches and pages worked up (just haven't posted anything because I'm still doing the Top Secret thing and still hoping for the green light).

Thanks for the redirect and comics link too, I'm obviously still new here, they're nice looking comics.

Here's a link to some of my work I have online -->

Not a ton but just starting there too. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Thanks again - Nathan

i think you can bring justice to survivor

what do you mean, youre looking for the greenlight ?

if you mean permission from chuck for the change in intellectual media, that can be accessed with a little snoping:

http://chuckpalahniuk.net/author/faq

http://chuckpalahniuk.net/author/faq#How%20do%20I%20get%20him%20to%20rea...

you can more than likely find contact addresses on his wiki pages and also the most current writer's market manual

.

if you do get headway (first, make certain through your contacts to find out that the comics adaption does not already belong to someone else), and get it working yet dont win, if it flatlines in the future, please feel free to contact the site admin and hopefully we can host it here while you search to find the work a home.

take care and best wishes

Did the IW and Lullaby comic need to receive a sort of permission? I'd love to see a Survivor comic. Best of luck, bro.

Thanks! What I'm doing with Survivor does look a bit different from this but I think I've found a good feel for it.

I want the permission because I want to enter it into a contest here -->

http://www.zudacomics.com/

It's a part of DC Comics and if you're accepted the story updates weekly for one year with the possibility of renewal afterwards.

But I can't do this without the author's permission. If I don't get it then I would most likely post what I've done here but I definitely don't want to cross any lines by doing so. I think it would be really well received here and have been basically trying to work up the nerve to ask for a few months now.

Now I have the nerve but am lost on how exactly to do it.
