This isn't a 'capital punishment is okay if it's clean' argument, just that, you know... that's some savage and brutal shit. Interesting fact though, the phrase 'capital punishment' comes from the latin for head, which was the 'capital', as traditionally it involved that's severence.
Yeah, based on what I know, Six is dead on (get it). If done properly, a beheading is going to be the fastest, least painful way to go. Lethal injection is actually pretty fucked up because of the mental distress the victim goes through during the process.
last i heard, lethal injection was on hold for that very reason. sometimes it doesn't work right and the subject might be feeling pain so it turns into cruel and unusual punishment.

Anyone ever watch the Neo-nazi beheading video? It was done with a dull knife, but I think there's a big difference between beheadings and lethal injections. Besides, isn't there a story about a scientist who was guillotined in the French Revolution that proved the head stays alive for 15 seconds after death by blinking after his beheading? I think people go through the same amount of stress for both kinds of executions.

I'm not familiar with the Neo-nazi beheading video (neither do I care to be), but I did watch the video of Nick Berg's death and it was the most horrifying thing I've ever seen. I didn't watch all of it, and I didn't listen to the audio, but I found it to be profoundly upsetting.
I always thought they slept them, first. Ah well.

a fast beheading would prove thousands of dollars less than injection.
i personally dont want people to die, lethal injection or otherwise, but i certainly prefer it to child rape and murder. if a man throws his infant child off of a building, walk up to him and flash a little piece of metal into his head and pop that matter out of it. he will never harm another.

I can't remember where I read it, but someone once said the worst death ever would be stringing someone up in the town square and giving every citizen a pair of fingernail clippers. Eugherhgh. So horrible and amazing.

I read that as "pliers" at first and I was all. meh. Then I reread it and realized you said FINGERNAIL CLIPPERS... I was filled with pure horror.
There was a neat documentary on this guy who redesigned the electric chair to make it deadlier. The modern system of lethal injection is his doing, because he was a good guy at electrocutions and the powers that be were like, "hey, I'll bet he's good at poisoning people, too." He also thinks the Holocaust never happened because he's like, "pfft, that's not how I would build a gas chamber."
That documentary is mind numbing. I'm still not sure if he seriously believes what he says or not, but Neo-Nazis love the dude. Every step of his report on the gas chambers was done in error, and he is admittedly not a scientist who knows what he is doing.
I know Holocaust denial is basically a horrible joke, but this is kind of the best reason ever for subscribing to it.

And I hate to be pedantic, but this is technically gibbeting (leaving an executed body exposed to the elements in public to increase the amount of justice) as opposed to crucifixion.

Also, Sweden doesn't have death penalty. And that's great. On the other hand the longest penalty you can get here is 25 years. We call that "lifetime".

If it were a girl that was raped, even a child, I wouldn't put it past the Saudi government to behead and crucify/gibbet HER. They have this serious dysfunction where they punish the victim, rather than the rapists. A woman was gang raped by five men over there, and she was killed for it. Disgusting.

I read an article about a young woman over there receiving 100 lashes or so for being gang raped. They said it was in punishment for being in a vehicle with men she was not related to.
