BEER: a thread

bonga their summer ale is also pretty good but i'd have to say i enjoyed the white ale more.
i really like amber ales. in fact that's the style of beer that swayed me into the beer world.
Because like our buddy hostetler here i hated my friends' choice in bud and miller which taste like piss, but they're not the only beers out there.
Personally I like all kinds of beers now but I've learned that there is a time and place for each style and flavor.
For instance one day the bitter flavor of an IPA can satisfy my thirst but other times I cringe at the taste.
So keep in mind what flavors your palette craves and or is accustomed to. You'll be surprised what you might end up enjoying.
That movie Beerfest was pretty funny, huh?

i don't remember i was drunk when i saw it
Your right on one account, most of our good craft beers dont make it across the pond! America right now is leading the way in the fine beer world. Sure all most other counries see is Bud and Miller, which we consider piss beer as well, but our craft industry is top notch.
Please I invite you to come to the Bay Area for a holiday and I will gladly show you what we have to offer.
Stone Imperial Russian Stout

Limited Spring 2009 Release
I love this beer. I have drank plenty of them this year and still have one store din my beer fridge to be drank at a later date. There is so much going on with this beer , the flavors play off each other nicely. Its great every year its released.
I have a new favorite canned beer. 'Dales Pale Ale' from Oskar Blues Brewing. This is by far one of the best pale ales I ahve ever had!
Yes craft beers are even coming in cans now.

That Stone Imperial kicked my ass yesterday. It tastes so good I forget it's 10.5% and went on autopilot. Everything seems to be in order though, I think ...
I'll have to check to see if I can get the Dales Pale Ale around these parts.
we have dale's pale ale down here, i almost tried it once. also, the brewery by my house only sells their beer in cans. i forgot why, i think he said something about the flavor but he was probably BSing and it's just because cans are cheaper or something.

Oh man, that Stone RIS does sneak up on you. Its so good and tasty that its real easy to forget its high in abv. Your drinking it and next thing you know your pretty buzzed!
Its a little of both. The cans are cheaper but they have this new coating in cans that blocks any sort of aluminum taste, and cans are the ultimate protector from light when it comes to beer. Beer in cans usually tastes better than beer in bottles. Light ruins beer.
A good handfull of craft brewers are going to cans not to save money but to preserve flavor. Heck, Fat Tire is a whole new experience when you but it in cans!
yep, that's pretty much what the guy said. i remember now. are you him?
Haha no but the dude sounds like he knows whats up.
I just wish craft companies would start making those cool mini kegs like Heineken does so I can buy that mini kegerator from Krups.
Any chance I can find that Imperial Stout anywhere in Utah? I haven't gone to the liquor store since I've been here, maybe that's where they're hiding all the good stuff...
doesn't booze in utah have to be like 3% only? I may be mistaken/confused on this.
beer in utah is 3.2 at bars and in stores, i guess they think we won't get as drunk, well assholes we'll just have to drink twice as much. however random stranger is right, all the good stuff is at the liquor store, beers their are higher in alcohol content and taste i might add (duh) i will be having some petes wicked ale strawberry blond tonight.
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
i have to drink budweiser because i can't find my shiner in the cooler.
Not sure if Stone is distributed in Utah, but Ill find out and if not maybe I can get you some.
so far bud light and dos equis hoping for heineken mini keg and got a bottle of rum for the trip so far.
so quality isn't so much a factor but quantity.... enough to keep us drunk the time we're there
cheers bitches!!
dont know why it posted twice but ehh
guess that means everyone has to chug another beer
salud!
I can't wait to drink alcohol again.
go to the liquor store damnit!
also: bong, what part of vegas you live in?
they sale shit in gas stations in vegas called steel reserve or camo that are 9.0 to 10.2 in alc. content for like 1.29 a 24 oz, 3 of those and i can barely walk, the 5 years i lived there those little fuckers were my friend and my enemy.
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
also: hello beer girl! yummy.

I'm off Craig and the 95. There's a Rebel across the street from my house and I tend to drink until I can't make the short walk again. I usually go with the Steel Reserve. They're 99 cents/24oz now. The camo are like you say buck thirty, and I can't stand the taste of them anymore. And for some reason that camo makes me punch things/get punched by other people drinking it. I don't know if it's cause it pisses you off how bad it tastes or what.
my dad came over last night and was drinking Buds till 4AM. He actually thinks it's the king of the beers, just cuz that's what it says on the can. It's pathetic. I'll probably be going with the steel reserve when I get home from work tonight.

this needed to be quoted. i just got done setting up lighting for the Toby Keith show at the Red Rock an hour ago, and all the "lifeguards" at the pool (chicks in red bikinis, I doubt they could really guard any life) were carrying around cases of beer and man nothing hotter than chicks holding sweet, delicious beer.

HA! Bucket o beer! But did anyone notice that those beers are not Coronas even though the bucket says so?
Also, I may be a beer geek, but Ive been known to put back a Corona or 12 in my day.....
Next time you're in Minnesota, ask for a Premo. According to the label it's A Beer of Exceptional Quality.

"In a real dark night of the soul it is always three o'clock in the morning"
this is one of my most prized possessions.

Stella, Becks, Kingfisher, Sleeman's, Caffrey's, Moosehead...and of course Molson Canadian. Had to put in my 2 cents.
Becks is good. Stella is bad. Don't think I've tried any of the others, but Kingfisher sounds good.
Kingfisher is awesome. Nice Indian lager. Only time I drink it though is when I'm eating Indian food.
Oh. I don't like Indian food, but I do like IPA's, so who knows...
Kingfischer is nothing special, its an ambiance thing while eating Indian food.
IPA though do go good with spicy food so they do go with Indian. IPAs also go reaaaaaalllly good with friend chicken.
are you ready? so i just got back from my camping trip and their local brewery.

tried their lake isabella blonde, sequoia red, just outstanding ipa,and their class v stout
plus i started off with a framboise lambic, sampled lengthwise harvest moon ale, sierra nevada anniversary ale, and a pumpkin ale.
it was a BEERTASTIC weekend!
JEALOUS! I haven't been there since I was like 12. Obviously i didn't get to try that when I was there.
i lived a few blocks from the fremont experince and the el cortez was were we used to go to have old school fun. scary neiborhood and a dump but still had alot of fun, i had angry expierinces with camo, i think your right it tastes so bad it makes you angry.
squatters a local brewery is releasing hells keep or did already, and they had a local contest where you could design the label, i so wanted to do it, how fuckin cool would that be, like, hey see that bottle there? ... i designed it.
if you care here's the winner (which i don't think is nearly as cool as the runners up)
also: parker, duffman in the box. oh yeah!
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
I started the night out at a bar that I like and I had Cutthroat Pale Ale, which is pretty good. I then went over to a bar that I've heard of but have never gone to, called Bayou, and it's awesome. And because I felt like taking a chance, and I feel like I learned something from the Cult, I decided to try Sam Adam's Cream Stout, figuring, it's Sam Adams, so even if I hate Stouts, it's probably pretty good. And it was. I then went on to a LDS Stout, which is served without carbonation and at room temperature, and I think it was good but it would've been better had I drank it first. And then I had a Taddy's Porter, which was awesome.
i'm proud of you alex. welcome to the dark side of beer.
So we can go out for drinks now next time I'm in LA, yes?
yes we may
Awesome. You grabbing the first round?
ha! yeah ill dance on the bar and hopefully i'll get free drinks like last time. oh yeah and im really not the type of girl that dances on a bar but i negotiated and got free drinks last time. i was pretty wasted.
Oh, I forgot to mention--Bayou has Imperial Stout, but there's no way in hell I was going to pay $25 for a beer.
This post brought a tear to my eye, beautiful man just beautiful....

sadly, texas isn't on either top 20 for top breweries per capita or medals won. i thought we had some pretty good beer here but not good enough.
cool map big S
i haven't tried these yet (i mean the ones on the side of da fort-a) i will tonight or tommorrow.

this is what the old lady is drinkin this weekend.

nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.

I'm interested to try this. Tried the Boston Lager the other day, was okay. I'm not too into lagers. But white ales are my thing.
Right now I'm drinking a Wing Walker Amber Ale, and it's not great. It is pretty creamy though. See how i feel about it once it's drank all the way.
