BEER: a thread
not sure, i've only ever had it with the 211. it's definitely a ghetto drink though.

I dig it, because it's delicious, and is technically a MEAD, and anything that makes me feel like a viking, is something I dig.
Honey Ale, tastes like a threeway, and is a total zipper ticket.
Sorry to burst your bubble but its not a mead at all. Its a standard English Pale Ale. Just because a beer has some honey in it, doesnt make it a mead. A Mead is made with honey, water yeast and thats pretty much it. No hops, no barley, no wheat etc (unless your making a mead hybrid, and thats a whole other reply).
Beers that are brewed with a small amount of honey are done so to add fermentable sugars and a dryness to the beer. Honey is almost 100% fermentable and thats why you'll see it added to beer to raise the abv .
Your actually pretty hard pressed to find commercially made mead these days. There are some out there but good luck finding it. The closest thing out there with somewhat of a distribution is Dogfish Head Brewings 'Tedj' which is their take on an Ethiopian honey beer.
if you like malt liquor and or sparks you'll like joose. personally i don't like malt liquor. i won't drink OE, king cobra, or 211's
but i will drink mickey's grenade's although i refuse to drink a 40oz
for some reason i want to try colt 45's though.

Oh, I know it's not really a mead. Just a little viking joke my friends and I had. No bubble bursted. It's all good.
Actualy mead is relatively easy to make, if you want I can hook you with a recipe and instruction on how to make it.
they serve meade at the renaissance festival too. i've never tried it. also, last year at the festival, we ended up talking to some goof in a costume and he told us about a drink called loki. all you do is mix everclear and sugar water and let it ferment for a month or two and you're supposed to bottle it on a full moon. the effects of the final drink depends on who bottled it and their state of mind while bottling it. haven't tried that yet either. the guy said after drinking it you lose 20 minutes of your life.
That's supposed to be what happens for each cigarette you smoke.
i got my interwebs back finally cuz onyx doesn't know how to pay bills! so i'm back after 5 days of nothing.
i honestly didn't get a pm about that, or maybe i checked it one night after drinking alot of BEER.
well, i sent you a pm about where we may be tonight, that would be cool if me, you, red, rob, onyx and minerva (although i'm pretty sure she's gone) could chill at a bar, go see a movie or something.
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
Yeah, I'm definitely down to do something, but I've got another birthday party I've got to go to. Maybe sometime next weekend we can do a semi-official meetup.
loki huh? sounds interesting. I've had everclear in fruitpunch form it was delicious but close to deadly if i didn't pace myself. fun times with the roomies in sd.
Is everclear the one with the crystals in the bottom? Isn't there a red one with crystals too?
wait. when was this my idea? I hate beer.
Goldschlagger?
everclear is well... clear
I think that's Aftershock. Everclear is like 190 proof or something like that.

Goldschlagger?
that's gold flakes, not crystals.
AfterShock is the one I was thinking about, I think...

I think that's Aftershock. Everclear is like 190 proof or something like that.
yeah, google tells me that it's also in green and blue!
aftershock tastes like it should be in the dental health aisle
The only thing I remember about it is that I have had it, which I suppose is either a good or bad recommendation for it.
I've been drinking Kronenberg 1664 tonight. That's about it.
It's bad very bad then again I was like 13 when I tried it. Better of mixing a drink with Listerine or just chew some Big Red as you take a shot of rum with sugar on the rim.

They only had the red kind when I drank. I can't remember what it tastes like, though.

Tonight : Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen

nate, i think it was in the august pics you said someone should start a beer thread, i'm not 100% but god damnitt, you said it! i don't have time to look through threads right now.
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
that's caribou. that'll mess you up, we used to drink it all the time. i think there's a song about it too.
caribou ...what a play on words
isn't it some sort of elk too?

that caribou will fuck your shit up!
I have never seen that beer because I dont think it makes it to the states. gets solid reviews though.
Also, i was going to post pics of me brewing a batch of beer today, but my stove is not operational due to me having a problem with PG&E (power). So sometime this week I will give a step by step process of a partial extract home brew process with pics. I am going to make a Coffee Porter.
Of course Bayern is a good place for beer aficionados. Every small town has its brewery. Here in Aschaffenburg we have the Schlappe Seppel ( http://www.schlappeseppel.de/ ).

That just makes me thirsty. I really need to get to Europe and do a big giant beer tour of all the great countries that make great beers.
i'm very sorry to senor nate parker, it was actually big s who said this.
i drink regular coors when i can't afford one of my staples. there should be a beer thread if there isn't one already.
i bowled some great games last night and i was drinkin bud light, coincidence?
also i tried this blueberry ale it was damn tasty.
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
what a pussy. j/k
great pics

i've tried a twoferone before.

I was drinking at Tracks again last night, and really enjoyed their red lager. Then, my cousin and her husband showed up and forced me to do an Irish car bomb, and it wasn't bad. Certainly a shit-ton better than the last time I tried it, which was probably close to 10 years ago. I normally avoid Stouts, and I didn't like Guinness when I've had it before, but now that I'm a bit more of a beer nerd I'm going give it another try.

Ludwig ,you were already cool in my book, but your coolness just went to a whole new level!
Here is the thing about stouts, Guinness Draught is the lightest, most sessionable, low alcohol stout there is. Most beer geeks consider it 'breakfast beer'. Seriously, they do. Guinness makes a foreign stout and an extra stout that are nothing like Guinness Draught,. They are strong roasty malty stouts bigger in flavor. They are decent but there are better out there.
Also there is a Guinness Special Export Stout that you cant get in the US and its supposed to legendary.
Now I personally like big stouts, or whats called a Russian Imperial Stout. Much like the story of how the IPA came to be (if you dont know I can tell the story later), The Czars of Russia in the 1800's like British Stout beers, They liked them alot. They were big and bold and flavorful. However, because of lack of refridgeration and slow transport times (usually by horse) often times barrels of beer went bad in transport. Usually by the time a barrel of stout made it to St Petersberg or Moscow it had gone bad. So the British decided to do to Stouts what the did for the Pale ale, they added a lot more malts and a crap ton more hops. Hops act as a natural preservative in beer, the more you have, the longer your beer will last. Adding more malts also increases the abv, and alcohol is one of the best preservatives you can use. So more alcohol+more hops = beer that can last and age for a long time.
By the time these 'foreign' stouts made it to Russia, they had been aging a little and mellowing out in the barrels, yet they were very big in flavor and hops.
When the Russian Czar of the time tried this new style stout, he loved it and so did all his friends. It was big bold and tough , just like the Russians. Hence, the style is now known as Russian Imperial Stout.
Today the style is extremely popular in the beer geek world. Stone Brewings Russian Imerial Stout has a pic of their gargoyle logo with one of those Russian fur hats on. North Coast Brewings Russian Imperial Stout is named 'Old Rasputin', Avery Brewing RIS is simply named 'The Czar', and Portsmouth Brewery makes a legendary RIS called 'Kate the Great'.
Now on to regular stouts. You have a lot to choose from. There are Irish Stouts, Milk Stouts/Sweet Stouts, Oatmeal Stouts, and Foreign Stouts. All have slight variations and I cant tell you which style you will like but I can help in how you drink it. Stouts should never be served or drank ice ciold. They should be drank at around 50 degrees or slightly higher. You want the full flavor to come out.
My favortite stout- Descutes Brewery's 'The Abyss'. It only comes out once a year and that beer is flat out amazing.
me like stouts

never been and don't plan on it plus i usually drink it in one of these

trend or not i like stouts but i will not wear a head band as im drinking it
seriously what the hell is this?

are these two girls?

ooooOOOOoooohhhh
can't tell if those fraggles are boys or girls either.
i've heard they all like hands up their holes but still don't know if they are girly or boyish holes
those crystal doozer tubes were filled with helium.
i thought this thread was about beer
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
i had a pitcher of this mmm

I'm from England and the consensus from over here is that you fellas don't know what beer is and you drink in puny little half measures. I know an American girl and she says your local beers are good and all the stuff we get imported is piss, like bud and gives you all a bad name. Lagers from England are to be honest pretty bad, but it's all about the ales, guinness and bitter for me, I'm making myself thirsty now.
we don't need your stinking consensus.
did you read this thread at all? and that american girl was probably some college girl equivalent to a frat boy who did nothing but drink the worst beers and would always end up on the floor by the end of the night after being the most belligerent bitch in the room.
or maybe she was a juggalo!!!!
you know most of the time we don't need our stinking consensus either, just saying all we get imported from you lot is Bud and that Miller which is like piss water. Didn't mean any offence.

I actually just went all gangsta on shit and got a foaty of olde e.
Those joose look interesting, been meaning to try one. Any good?
