BEER: a thread
taking nat parkers great idea.
i used to just drink natural ice and light cuz it was cheap, about 5 years ago i started tring all kinds of beer, i wanted to try everything, that chilled for awhile while living in vegas cuz i could buy 9.0 and 10.0 24oz for like 1.29, three or four of those and i'm fucked, here in s.l.c. (btw the beer at the gas station here is only 3.2, assholes) if you go to the liquor stores you can get stronger and exotic beers, i've began once and awhile buying some new ones.
personally my fav is probably rolling rock, it's smooth no bad after taste. (i get a little giddy when i see someone drinkin it in a movie)
i also enjoy pete's wicked ale strawberry blonde and becks.mmm.
and there is local brews here such as:
st. provo girl and polygamy porter.
what do ya'll enjoy?
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
Anchor Steam, Rogue, Stone, Pete's... those are all good. Tecate and XX (Dos Equis) are nice Mex brews. Avoid Corona.
Yuengling and Straub are to good local lagers. Nothing fancy, but nice drinking beers.
We also have, on a smaller scale, Penn Brewery and Church Brew Works. All their stuff is good.
I don't really go much for fancy or overly-flavored beers. Once in a great while maybe.

I don't drink.
beer taste like ass to me.
the only even somewhat alcoholic beverage I've liked are mojitos.
"It is true, that which I have revealed to you; there is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a dream - a grotesque and foolish dream. Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought - a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities."
You don't drink beer to get drunk. Or shouldn't anyway; it is not cost effective.

labatts blue, alexander keiths,

I respect anyone who appreciates good ole' RotGut. Natty Ice and light were my graduation from Milwaulkee's Best ICE. The BEAST. I literally lived on and lived for The Beast from age 21 to 24,every day, from waking up to passing out. I was introduced to this magic drink by a skinhead(a Sharp?) in Birmingham Al. Upon my first taste I said "ugh this is horrible" the skinhead informed me that men do not drink things that taste good. I agreed,no Queer-beer for me. Let's be honest, after about four it all tastes like water...glorious,LIVING WATER(as Jesus said). Well, besides random liquers that was what'd I'd always drink even when given other options. One night the service station was out of The Beast and I bought some Natural ICE...long story short..in the years that followed,I was arrested, commited, crashed a car and forced my friend to have plastic surgery, dropped out of college, evicted, and was fired from my job. All beer related. I haven't drank since New years eve of this year and that was just because it was New Years eve,I was sober for six months before then,I puked and was happy about it because I thought maybe my body was rejecting it.
Like I said,no queer-beer but every now and then Bud Light with Lime would fill my gullet. Very rarely though.
I hope that top part didn't come off as some kind of whiney "boohoo I'm an alcoholic" thing. I just really liked that kind of beer.
You shit on these nukkas two times Dr.Dre?
Oh Fo' Sho'!
my favorite beer by far is shiner bock. i don't know if you can get that everywhere because it's a texas beer but they drink it in 'deathproof'.

as far as cheap beers (for camping or heavy partying) go, i love me some lonestar, also a texas beer. if that's not available, it's miller high life. i frequent the local breweries once or twice a month. we have st. arnolds in houston and rahr and sons in ft. worth. rahr and sons has some great beers and they have the only ipa that i can stand drinking. but that's in ft worth and i'm not up there quite enough. there's also a brewery right around the corner from my house called southern star. i had their blonde and it was excellent but it was about 8 bucks for a 6 pack of cans.

mmm...beer
My favorite beer is free beer.
This.
But mostly i drink Smithwicks, Paulaner, Summit, and something else i can't remember unless i see the name. Blue Moon's good, too. I never thought i'd say it, but i really can't imagine drinking budweiser, coors, or anything like that unless i'm trying to get myself shitfaced.
Tell that to the dumbass kids around here.
I don't drink beer. Tried it once, but it was so gross... I'm not gonna put myself through the agony of learning how to drink beer, 'cause that's just ridiculous to me.
I like vodka.

Samuel Smith's brews are best.
When I went to Bavaria last summer I loved it- a beer and a different kind of wurst every day!
Beer is amateur blamateur.
Samuel Smith's brews are best.
I was in a Sam Smith's pub last night drinking their rather awesome cherry beer. It's 5.1% too, so that's cool.
I used to drink a lot (currently in Afghan - stupid dry countries and stupid no drinking allowed rules - I'd probably give my left pinky toe right now for a drink) but I digress, before deploying I basically drank anything, didn't really care. It also depended on my mood. For the most part I had beer or wine during dinner. I switched between Corona Lights and Heineken Lights (because I thought the bottles were cute). Then after dinner I either had 2 or 3 Martini's or Diet Sunkist and Vodkas. Those were sooo yummy, they were like screwdrivers only better.
Since most bars don't carry diet Sunkist when I went out I drank Jack and diets or martini's. Though drinking martini's was somewhat expensive because I don't do cheap vodka. Cheap vodka gives me headaches.
I was probably borderline alcoholic. But the way I see it, I showed up to work on time...I didn't have problems with my friends..so I was nowhere near the intervention stage.
The first 2 weeks I was out here I couldn't stop shaking. I think they called it the TD's...but I forgot what that stood for. The shaking finally stopped, now I just day dream of the day I get to have another drink.
On a scale of 1 to awesome I'm the sh*t.
beer. oh beer. being australian with irish blood, i like a drink.
but no, i don't drink fosters. no one in australia does. i don;t think you can even buy the shit at bottlo's. i don't drink vb either. that shit is rancid.
i do enjoy coopers pale ale. a whole bunch of others. i went through a massive tooheys old - it's a black beer - phase. but that has passed at the moment. it's a bit to heavy.
i haven't heard of basically every beer you guys have mentioned on here. shit. budweiser is like drinking the arse juice of someone with anal fissures.
The first 2 weeks I was out here I couldn't stop shaking. I think they called it the TD's
it's actuallt dt's, i has had that shit a few times after a long bindge. sucks.
i have to run out the door, but you can find it in wiki, i'm sure, and you can die from it.
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.

Yeah but the bottles are tiny and expensive. It is nice though, their strawberry and raspberry ones are nice too but cherry is the best. I don't think I could drink more than one or two, it would get a bit sickly trying to get drunk on them.
!
i can't drink sweet beers, they tend to make me sick. and the ones that taste like coffee are pretty nasty.
i love old speckled hen though, i forgot about that one. it's also about 8 bucks for a 6 pack. i got lucky one night and had it for $2 a pint though. it was at a bar called the londoner.
i didn't even know sweet beers existed.
doesn't it defeat the purpose? i imagine it would be sickening.
if you want something sweet, go buy a cocktail. or a vodka and cranberry.

I don't buy the bottles, just pints. And a pint of Samuel Smith's organic/ alpine lager is about £2 in my London haunts, which is nothing.
I don't think I've ever tried those, only the fruit flavour ones. I'll have to look out for them.
!
Ehm, you can't be talking about this?

ahh...u r right...DT's...glad I didn't die
On a scale of 1 to awesome I'm the sh*t.
If I drink beer, it's usually Bud Light since that's all anyone has around here. I've tried Sam Adams and it was ok. While I can enjoy drinking beer (nothing like a cold one on a hot day), I'd much rather bourbon. My drink 'o' choice is a double shot Old Charter and Coke. Mmmmmm.... By the end of the night, I'm drinking straight Charter, but I digress.
Anyway, back on track.... Mmmm... beer... yummmy.
Widmer Brothers... favorite favorite brewer.... mmmmm, love all their brews.
Also
Deschutes Brewery Black Butte porter
Buffalo Bills Pumpkin ale and Orange Blossom cream stout!! They actually made the perfect winter ale and summer stout... amazing.
Stone Brewing Company's Arrogant Bastard ale, that shit'll kick your ass
New Belgium Fat Tire Amber ale and 1554
but, Rouge Dead Guy ale would have to be my favorite brew of all time. All Time.
Hey Pepper, you missed out on our Portland meetup a month or so back. We did a lot of bar hopping downtown. At the McManimans (?) bar downtown, they had some beer called the Obama something that was as dark and tasty as a Guiness but smooth and easy to drink. It was amazing, and amazingly cheap.
Also, to piggyback Zoth's post: I'm in Utah now, and I'm pretty much drinking nothing but Shock Top and Golden Spike, a couple of local beers. Unless my objective is to drink and drink and drink at a party or something, I just can't stand drinking Bud Light, Coors Lite,, PBR, etc anymore. I'm turning into a bit of a beer snob, I think...

It's a weird realisation to come to. That you're becoming a beer snob. But i think i'm turning that way, too.
Yeah, but I don't mind it much. I really like beer, and whenever I go somewhere new I try and drink only local beers. Should they not be available, I'm not more likely to ask for a Becks than a PBR.
In my thinking, beer is one of the most down to earth things around, so it rings funny to me to think of being a "beer snob". Personally, if I like something I just want to learn and explore more about it, as opposed (in the case of beer) to finding one type that goes down smooth and sticking with it.
I get a hankering for PBR every now and then, but my cheap beer of choice most times would be anything from Henry Weinhards selections. Cost effective and you actually get some flavor rather than just bitter carbonated water.
RandomStranger, that get together sounds like a lot of fun, too bad I missed it. Do you guy's do that sort of thing often?
We generally do one big one per year, and this year was Portland. I was there last summer and fell in love with the city, and I'm going to be moving there in the springtime, so I'm really looking forward to more downtown bar hopping.
I'm a simple man.

jus' be a siiimmPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL kindaaaa MAAAaaaAAAAnnnnn...
don't do that again.
fine. Be complicated, then.
I dug it.

i prefer complexed. complex. forget it.
where you goin to drink random man? any fav bars in town?
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
I dug it. :)
be somethin you luv an understaaaaaand!
I only like beer occasionally, but there's nothing like an ice cold beer on a hot summer day. I like Miller Lite, Bud Lite, Corona Light, Heineken (favorite!) and sometimes dark beer like Dos Equis. I recently had some SweetWater 420 Extra Pale Ale, which is a local Atlanta brew. It was a little too strong/bitter for me, though.
Ehm, you can't be talking about this?

'cause that has nothing to do with drinking.
No,I asked my doctor about it a while back ago. It has to do with sober sleeping after passing out from alchohol for long periods of time. It's not the same kind of falling feeling, the best way I can describe it is if you suddenly relized your heart stopped. It's a panicky feeling.
You shit on these nukkas two times Dr.Dre?
Oh Fo' Sho'!

I'm not much of a beer drinker. But when I do, I usually have Heineken. I used to drink Fat Tire too. Now, I'd love to try Delirium Tremens.
The Catmother of all Worldwide Cats
I don't usually drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.
i've only been blackout drunk twice in my life (that i can remember). that one time we were at the cantina until 5am drinking with cops and prostitutes and that other time i drank too much of this:

211 is bad news.
Blackout stories!
I have twice too( that I remember off). The first time, I leaning over a stairwell vomiting pure vodka liquid while my sister's boyfriend stood at the bottom holding a popcorn bowl at chest level trying to catch it all. Splishy splashy!
HA. also i forgot this one time i took some xanax while drinking heavily and the night is a complete blank. i was told i had fun though. i woke up on my friend's floor and i had no idea how i got there. but there were scribbled drawings around me and i guess i drew all over a friend's face with a sharpee. he didn't really hang out with me anymore after that. i don't like not remembering an entire night, especially if i had fun. then it's not actually fun.
Jesus, that's excessive. Congratulations on waking up eventually.
From experience: One beer bottlecap full of GHB = roughly a six-pack of beer drunk.
Be careful out there, people.

I just LOVE beer, I want to learn to brew my own, my favorites:
