Baby Names.
Thanks so much everyone for your stories and suggestions!
Especially the cult Mums. You're so special.
I will respond to each post tomorrow when I'm (hopefully) not so tired.

How about Delilah?
I adore that name. I knew a lovely girl in school by that name and I almost put it on my list.
"We're developing a new citizenry. One that will be very selective about cereals and automobiles, but won't be able to think."
— Rod Serling
"Chuck calls Noah fortnightly on his bakelite rotary phone and gives him publisher's insider information and stock tips."- Tuffy
I had a kittie named Delilah. She ran away/got lost/stolen and we could never find her.
We still have her brother Sampson.
Apart from Hattie Glover (which is magic incidentally):
Gabriella (Gabby)
Sadie
Aurora
Beatrix (Bea)
Cecilia
Esme
Good luck, Sarah! :)
I like those names. One of them is pretty close to a name that bloke and I both like and are considering.
Thanks Hattie!
PLEASE name your baby Strawberry, though.
I'm sorry for not multiquoting, my brain won't allow me to do it.
I like those names, especially Molly. That was bloke's Grandma's name too.
I kind of like Strawberry! A have a couple of buddies calling her that.
Max Ondine
Ondine means a wave or water spirit! Edit: not sprite
It sounds like a drug. Don't bring drugs around the baby and get her named Moon Jumper, Jr.
Hmmmm. I don't want her to sound like a drug, so Moon Jumper, Jr. it is!
Ellie?
Ellie is so cute!
Yes. I shall name her Fudge Camel.
Cult Mum's and Dad's share your baby naming stories and advice with me please.
Giancarlo got his name from a boy I went to Catholic school with. He was so adorable, and when we had heritage day or something like that, he spoke in Italian and well...swoon. I thought his name was so cool & romantic, but I didn't know how it was spelled until I saw my mom grading some papers (she was a sub)and she pointed it out to me. I said that even though I was going to grow up to be an unmarried, childless corporate attorney living in New York, if hell froze over and I ever became a mother to a little boy, that'd be his name. His middle name is Joseph, after my brother.
Anthony is variation of my father's name (Antonio), and his middle name comes from his paternal grandfather, Edward. That part was a compromise with Anthony's dad because it wasn't my first choice for his middle name.
If I'd ever had a girl, her name would have been Gabriella Marie Francesca, just because I love those names together.
Shut Up
Piss Off
Please tell me that's a reference to Vyvyan from The Young Ones.
Thanks for sharing that Alecia. It's awesome you knew totally what you were going to call your eldest.
I love your girl name. So pretty.
And you win the thread for getting the Young Ones reference!
Hehe!
Those are lovely names. I really do like the name Rebecca. One of my good friends is a Rebecca and it's one of my sister's middle names.
Again, I'm too white.
It took three days to name him. We liked the name David, but James' sister was pregnant and had already picked that name for her little boy. We really couldn't think of what his name was, then on day three James was chopping firewood and I guess it came to him. He didn't mention it to me, but his sister asked later that day if we had named baby yet and he said yes, his name was Gabriel. I knew as soon as I heard him say this that it was indeed his name. It was sort of, of course that is his name. And middle name after James. Gabriel Jameson.
With Trevor we were separated and I didn't tell anyone the names I was thinking of, including James, which were Trevor or Travis. I hadn't decided which. While I was birthing James was taking a break in the waiting room and saw the name Trevor in a magazine. When he was born James asked me what I thought of naming him Trevor. So, I knew that was his name. His middle names are Michael, because I wanted something lovely and traditional sounding, and Allen, after James' middle name, I really didn't want Allen to be in there but it was important to James that his sons both be named after him, I think partially because we were going through a rough time when I became pregnant and he had some little (unfounded) doubts if the child was his. Trevor Michael Allen.
Zachariah took a week. He was going to be named Elizabeth if he was a girl. Which is my grandma and moms middle name. But he wasn't a girl. We felt like we were running out of boy names and nothing fit him. My midwives came to my house for a postpartum check and to take care of the papers when he was a week old and I still hadn't decided. I was gravitating between Zachariah and Christopher, but I didn't particularly care for calling my child either of the shortened versions. I decided Zachariah trying them both out while looking at him and thinking it could be shortened to Riah instead of Zach. Which of course never stuck. Mostly everyone calls him by his full name, Zachariah. He absolutely loaths to be called Zachary. He'll yell at you. One day when he was four he told me he wanted to change his name to Christopher Robin, and I realised I had never told him his middle name. He was so pleased. So very very pleased, and he still adds the Robin part now and then on his own. A mouthful of a name for a handful of a boy. Zachariah Christopher.
I always said if I had a girl she would be named either Seth or Melody. James absolutely could not wrap his head around the name Seth for a girl. So that was out. We refused to find out her sex before she was born. I wanted a daughter so badly and I didn't want to be disappointed while I was pregnant. I knew if she was a boy I wouldn't care when I was handed my healthy baby but I didn't think I could handle it if I found out before I had healthy pink baby in my arms. If she was a boy she was to be named Liam. I actually had a dream several days before she was born that she was a boy and told me this was her name. Near the end of the pregnancy I had decided on Lillian for a girl, but I wasn't satisfied with it and a friend of mine started suggestion all these spanish sounding names, many ending with anna or auna. When she was born and I saw that she was a girl I cried and called her Lily Liliauna. Her middle name was to be Melody, and I still wish I had stood my ground on that. James had wanted her to be called Daisy if she was a girl however, so that ended up being her middle name. He says it is after his great grandmother, but I know the truth is he named her after Daisy Duke. I know it. Lily likes Daisy better than Melody, so I guess that is all that counts. Liliauna Daisy.
For all of the children we wanted them to have traditional names, and ones that had a beautiful ring to them, names that one recognizes as soon as they hear them, but are not necessarily names that are overly popular or heard every day.
Thanks Pepper! Great stories.
I love the fact you and James both thought of Trevor with out saying it to eachother.
Your children have lovely sounding names.
Apparently Emma is also the most popular girl name in Norway!
I also love the name Kine, but outside of Norway it would just sound silly.
Emma is a very common, middle class name in the UK. As is Rebecca, which is my middle name.
I don't really like either. :s
I really want to name my kid Winston, but I'll probably waste it on a dog first. Unless the dog is black, in which case I'll need to give it a black name like Batman.
"A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism." -Carl Sagan
"Am I cruel? Probably. Is she an idiot? Yes." -jane s.
I don't really like either. :s
Emmas grow up mean. Don't name her Emma.
You know in all the years I've been here I've never been sigged?
Nah, I have a cousing called Emma. I won't be calling her that.
I don't really like either. :s

Your baby's name is Persephone. You're just going to have to get used to the idea.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.

Aww, I'm sorry, dude.
Perhaps you can one day have a baby and call it Emma?

But I am told it invokes dirty jokes about boobs.
Amii (Duh!)
Or some Cult name mashups: Harrimke, Ambecca, Jessrah.
Irincia
Tuffix on the Dot.

I have not heard that one.

That Melanie, she sure is Melon-y.
Melanie has a great set of melons.
I'd like to get to know Melon-y, yes.
Et cetera.

I like the name Hannah.
Who am I remixed with?
I'd prefer if she were named after one of our screen names.
Onehundredeightyeightthousandfourhundredsixteen Ryan-Glover.
Beautiful.
Underscore-Kit.
Hehe.
Bloke just suggested Shanaia.
*cringe*
He was kidding, right? RIGHT?!
Maya.
Maya is nice.
have probably said it before, but I always loved, adored, the name Seth for a girl.
As a boy name I find it to be, Meh.
For a girl it just rings for me.
Maya (spelled Maia) is what I'd name my kid if I ever have a daughter.
Just google plant names.
Lilibeth
Lilybell
Iris
Violet
Rosemary
Iris is what my aunt calls me, short for Irina. Flower names are lovely.
I don't want a baby, but I want to change my name now.
Violet because these smell amazing.
I really like Iris, but bloke isn't a fan.
Lilybell is really pretty.
I do like Maya, Irina, but I know my friend would like a little girl called that so I'll try for something else.
I've never heard of a girl called Seth.
I like some Dutch and Norwegian names (like Noortje and Kine), which would just sound silly in a foreign country.
Vera is a pretty name!
Mini-Minerva is called Maya
Ava-Claire. And I cussed out loud when I first heard it, because it was the most perfect name I ever heard and didn't think of it for Issy.
But, when she was kicking in my belly, I just kept saying names for 2-3 days. By the third day, she had chosen her own name. Isabelle was the only one that she did a complete flip for, every time.
So, that's that.
Anna Karina because everyone will always associate her with one of the most beautiful French actresses ever.

Most popular girl name in The Netherlands in 2011. [/random fact]
i see the dutch have good taste in names too.
