Actually it's both ways. See, in paint, whatever paint color you use, its actually absorbing all the colors and reflecting only the color you see, so blue paint absorbs any color other than blue, and reflects blue. And generally in paint when you mix all the colors, you get black, or pretty close to black. On the other hand, with light, if you mix all the colors you get white, because it sortta adds up on itself. At the same time, white light has all the colors inside itself potentially (as in the pink floyd cover), and if you were to substract red from it, you'd get the opposite of red, which is just a mixture of the remaining colors. I think you'd get cyan, but im not sure.
So is white a void or black a void? id say black. White would be absence, if anything. Void definitely sounds black.
