Ailment Thread
Dburden, I think you should see the doc for a concussion. You shouldn't have kept the headache that long. Did you have any vomiting, vision problems or dizziness? It wouldn't hurt to get it checked it out.
Whatever Whore!
I have that verbal thing sometimes, too.
It appeared after my last concussion.
Brain damage is cumulative, kids. Protect that skull.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I don't play sports, I don't ski, I don't skate, I don't do anything that might result in my getting a broken bone or a cracked skull. I was having a picnic and some morons were playing with a frisbee within 4-5 feet of our blanket, so this is how I got hit. Then the frisbee ricocheted in my friend's arm, and she said she felt the blow quite badly.
You definitely should be wearing a helmet wherever you go.
"Irina Must Use Protection." Repeat this to yourself constantly.
This is why we can't have nice things.
My poor brain has probably suffered a lot of damage aside from the poison I've definitely taken serious spills.
I woke up Tuesday morning and didn't have any of the other symptoms. Right now, for most of the day, it's a dull throb that flares once in a while. I figure I won't spar or do a strenuous work-outs.
The thing that is most annoying is that I'm a bit irritable--I think I'm doing pretty good so far this weekend with the family but it's been a conscious effort.
But thank you for the advice.
My last concussion I slipped on a bit of tomato on the floor (entire kitchen was clean except that one little thing) did the splits and my forehead came down on the table breaking the top of the table off of the legs.
Came too on my rump spread eagle with the table in half an unable to speak anything but goobldygook.
No running around doing things at all. Just trying to make it from one side of the kitchen to the other.
I've actually begun to worry because it seems I am not as smart as I was before that. Things I comprehended with ease before I have to put actual effort into absorbing now.
I think i just got over the flu for the first time in my life. It kept me sidelined for three days, including my birthday. It was horrible and i can't believe people get that regularly.
Influenza is a respiratory illness, and the average person only catches it every seven years or so. I caught it two years ago and it wiped me out for a week and a half, literally unable to get out of bed or help myself at all, then took about a month and a half to fully recover 100% from.
There are many other things people call The Flu, such as terrible stomach viruses and such, that are caught quite often but are not actually influenza.
Was it a respiratory illness you suffered? If not then it wasn't actually the flu.
My wrist has been hurting me for the past few days more than it was before.
It started off with a horrible stomach thing that had me nauseated and shaking and feverish and my skin was super sensitive all night. Then once that passed, i had a respiratory thing for two days, a horrible cough that only went away when i dug through the medicine cabinet and found an old Contact cold pill. Then my eyes ached for about a day. Now i just feel groggy and like my sinuses are stopped up, but i think i'm in recovery.
That sounds awful. Glad you are feeling better now.
Everyone's getting sick!
Saturday and sunday: Fever, shivering, my entire body was aching, nasty cough, and then I got a headache because of the coughing.
Today: No more shivering, but generally feeling too warm, my body is still aching, I have no energy, the nasty cough is still there, and so is that damned headache.
I'm aiming to go back to work on Thursday, but I'm not sure I'll make it.
It's actually about 7 years ago I last felt this awful.
Not that i have any enemies right now but i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
I couldn't go to school on Friday or today but I did somehow manage to go to party on Saturday. I didn't enjoy it at all though, I only went because I was really hungry and they were roasting a pig. A roasted pig! And when your friend pays $22 to get you invited to a Texas luau in December, they are never impressed when you say you can't go because you've been sneezing more than usual.
I didn't enjoy it at all though (other than the food) and I almost passed out on the table. And lost my voice at some point. Goddamn you, delicious food and the lengths I'll go to get you in my mouth.
You can tell I didn't enjoy it because I said I didn't enjoy it twice.
Three times now. I didn't enjoy it, guys.
Jess, you're the devil with the 666th post.
Is anyone surprised.
I mean, I knew there was something fishy about the fabulousness of your hair.
Omega-3 fatty acids, all day, every day.
I see what you did there.

No.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
My headache went away Friday afternoon and I felt great Saturday morning so I decided to do a jog instead of a walk. Bad idea. My headache came back at around the halfway point but I thought, "I might as well finish the run." Another bad idea. Have had a bad headache since.
I finally talked to my brother (a doctor). He said that it was a good sign that it went away and that I probably just re-aggravated the original injury. He told me to rest it more, that it might be a good idea and get it checked out, and that I should grow up and give up kickboxing.
Other than a broken nose, broken cheek, bursitis in the elbow, and a bruised spine (they all sound worse than they were) I've been relatively injury free at this new gym (been there for over 6 1/2 years). I got a concussion at the old gym--and it was bad. I didn't think this one was because I kept consciousness, it wasn't that hard of a hit, and--compared to the other one--the symptoms are not that severe. I do love karate, but I don't think I can go back to point sparring. And sparring in the ring is like therapy to me--you can't think about all that other crap that's going on in life when you're about to get punched in the face. I don't know what to do.
Sorry about dumping this on all of you--I started typing and this all came out.
But, those of you that have the flu or flu-like symptoms have it worse than me. I had the flu a couple years ago and it turned into walking pneumonia. That sucked. Hope you guys feel better soon.
Guys, I am so sick. Taking a lot to just post. Just wanted to let you know I am alive. Fever, headache, sore throat and pretty much sleeping around the clock. Miss you guys and hope to be better and back soon!
Whatever Whore!
I hope you feel better soon Winnie. I was wondering about you.
I have a headache and my toes hurt real bad from work.
Oh no! Get well soon!
I remembered to take my multivitamins today. It must have been a week since I last took one.
Hope you feel better Winnie
Pizza, You are the death of me.
Guys I have a problem. I feel like such a junkie. I just cant stop myself, I keep teling myself that its just one more time. Or I will just have a little. But I cant stop myself. It seems like every day I need my fix. Fucking Gluten I just cant stop. Beer, begals, pizza, TOAST. How can you have breakfast without a grain? Oh god I need help.
As your attorney, my advise to you is to start drinking heavily(er).-Tuffy
Carbs are perfectly normal, man. Don't fall for "Dr." Atkins's lies.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I read that as "crabs" and thought I was in TMI.
bahahahaha
Tuffy is right. Don't let Dr. Atkins ruin your breakfast.
If pie is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Afuckingmen.
This is why we can't have nice things.
HEART BURN!
As your attorney, my advise to you is to start drinking heavily(er).-Tuffy
I have hurt the top of my arm. God knows how but its really achy. Maybe sprained. I tried not to sleep on it last night but kept tossing and turning. I don't really think I should drive today - it's 125 miles to my Dad's - but I don't want to disappoint him, especially because he is ill right now.
Could you take public transportation, or would that be too expensive?
I drove in the end. The trains have been disrupted because of flooding in the south west. Glad I drove, my arm was fine.
I have to pee.
I have a lot of bruises on both of my legs. I don't know where they came from.
I think a mosquito or something bit my ass the night I spent at the hotel, because at home all our windows have mesh (nets?).
screens
Thanks, Amber. They're also the reason our youngest cat hasn't died yet. She loves climbing up on the windows when they're open and when she was a kitten she sometimes slipped.
How many stories up is your apartment?
I live on the 6th floor.
My right eye's not too great. I constantly feel a tiny bit of pressure on it, veins have popped, and there's some ickiness coming out of it. Ugh, stop being gross, eye.
Euw. That's not good. You should see someone about that.
Um. Pun not intended.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Pink eye?
Whatever Whore!
Gross, seems like that could be it. It's feeling better today, but the redness is still there. Boo, no nice New Year's pictures.
I hope the redness goes away soon, Imke, that really sucks
So I just finished crying like a sap. I'm hoping its because of shark week being around the corner but I'm dreading that it has to do with me being stupidly in love...again.
I really need to talk someone about this but my best friend is really sick and I fell out of friendship with my other friends who know the story. Ergghhh!!!
I'm lovesick, sick of love, sick in love.

I had an epiphany today. I started eating my lunch - pasta - and after a mouthful or two I started to sneeze. This has happened a lot lately, including when I had toast this morning. I started noticing it because it was weird and I assumed I had a terrible brain tumour. Then, this lunchtime, it occurred to me that this was mostly happening when I had certain foods. FOOD WITH WHEAT. So I Googled sneezing when eating and what came up was wheat allergies and stuff, before I even typed anything about specific food.
This could be what it is, not IBS. That could be why my "IBS" is so bad and no pills are working. Recently I ate one slice of pizza and was doubled over in agony, it makes sense that it's linked to wheat or gluton or whatever, not IBS. I am going to hound my doctor for a blood test and for the mean time I'm going to cut out wheat products and see what difference it makes.
I'll keep you guys posted on new developments.
