...about the weather...
In case nobody's noticed, I have a tendency to comment on the weather in Pointless Announcements. Thought about making a thread, but never did. Today I decided that I simply must do it.
So, the weather's been really fucked up and sort of spastic the last couple of days. I'll be raining in the morning, pouring even, and then the next time I look out a window it'll be totally sunny and the rain will have dried up. And then later it'll rain again. That's what it was like yesterday. It rained in the morning, and then at some point it was even too warm for the three relatively thin layers I was wearing and then I switched to two layers and then while I was on the bus it started to rain again. And then stopped.
Today was kind of the opposite. It was dry but cool and windy in the morning and then it started raining later and then it dried up and then it rained periodically in tiny amounts for a while. And then it stopped. And started again. And then I was on the bus and it was still raining but not very hard and then there was lighning outside, except I wasn't sure if it was lightning, but then it happened again and there was thunder. Really cool because we usually just get rain. And then I got off the bus and was standing at the bus stop waiting for another bus to take home and the lightning continued and the thunder was really loud and you could actually see the lightning in the sky, which was really cool. And it got brighter and louder and then it started raining harder and then it got even brighter and really loud and it started raining even harder and it was really pouring down. It was absolutely fucking insane. Instant fucking puddles at the edge of the sidewalk. And it was seriously raining. Wow. Crazy cool. At this point I decided to call my parents to pick me up because I would have a five minute walk after I got off the bus and I would have been completely soaked by the time I got soaked. No umbrella or anything. And it kept on raining and the bus would splash water onto the sidewalk every time it came by. Then it went back to raining relatively lightly, the way it was before I got off the bus. I think it's so cool, though. Fuck. This really loud bit of thunder made some car alarm go off at one point.
Thunder and lightning. Oh yes. A rare treat.
The color of the sky as far as I can see is coal grey.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again.
I get a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my lip as if I might cry.
And by the force of will my lungs are filled and so I breathe.
Lately it seems this big bed is where I never leave.
I get a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my voice as I cry,
"What a cold and rainy day. Where on earth is the sun hid away?"
I hear the sound of a noon bell chime. Well I'm far behind.
you put in 'bout half a day while here I lie
with a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my voice as if I may cry,
"What a cold and rainy day. Where on earth is the sun hid away?"
Do I need someone here to scold me
or do I need someone who'll grab and pull me out of
four poster dull torpor pulling downward.
For it's such a long time since my better days.
I say my prayers nightly this will pass away.
The color of the sky is grey as I can see through the blinds.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again
I get a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my voice as if I may cry,
"What a cold and rainy day. Where on earth is the sun hid away?"
A cold and rainy day. I shiver, quiver, and try to wake. ~ "Like The Weather", 10,000 Maniacs (best song using the word "torpor")
Moe! That song was the first thing that popped into my head when I read this thread title.
By the way, Ballerina, I love thunder and lightning, too.

I sleep best when there's a massive thunderstorm.
It's been raining here in the mini apple for 2 weeks going on a year.... it feels like Seattle or something.
Sure it's great for the trees and plants and all, but not people who live in basement apartments.
It's under my skin, here come the bugs again...

Seems like May is the new April as far as rain goes.

Every time there's a thunder storm here, me and my son go out and sit on the patio and sit on the lawn chairs and just watch. Such a cool thing~
It's windy and it just started raining kind of hard. I love this. Oh, wait, less windy now.
We had a big rain yesterday morning, it was cool, like winter again, then it got really sunny and hot in the evening. I want a proper summer storm so that I can stick on some vivaldi and run out in bare feet.
!
its been pretty sunny and above average warm so far this spring here
i feel like i got gyped outta my spring thunderstorms ! dammit
Strange Weather - Tom Waits
Will you take me across the Channel
London Bridge is falling down
strange, a woman tries to save
more than a man will try to drown
and it's the rain that they predicted
it's the forecast ev'ry time
the rose has died because you picked it,
I believe that brandy's mine
And all over the world
strangers talk only about the weather
All over the world it's the same,
it's the same!
And the world is getting flatter
and the sky is falling all around
oh, and nothing is the matter
for I'll never cry in town
and a love like ours, my dear,
is best measured when it's down
and I never buy umbrellas
cause there's always one around
And you know that it's beginning
and you know that it's the end
once again we are strangers
as the fog goes rolling in
and all over the world
strangers talk only about the weather
All over the world it's the same,
it's the same!
It's the same!

this thread makes me wanna hear that blind melon song
Rain on a tin roof is the most mellow and sexy noise ever made other than the perfect blend of bass and guitar(but mostly the guitar sections) that make up the last 1 or 2 minutes of Under The Bridge by the RedHotChilliPeppers.
I was just thinking about this thread and thinking that I should post my thought here rather than in pointless announcements, and then Undertow linked to it in another thread, so I didn't even have to make any effort to look for it. But yeah, the weather is finally getting cooler. I mean, the weather forecast people are full of shit, but it's even looking cooler. Cloudy this morning, and then the sun came out, but there's still this breeze coming in my window and that's awesome. Looking forward to warmer clothing. Despite the loss of my favourite brown toque. My favourite toque, actually. I only had one brown one. You know, as opposed to having several brown ones and losing my favourite one. Anyone else seeing weather changes?
Is 72 high or low?
a few nights ago there was a bad case of rolling thunder
i love, love, love the pure giganticness of it all
it sounds mighty and all that
but it still has the tendency to scare jesus into me
skies almost too blue right now
and its 90 degrees
the surf is mush
and the wind is hot
hello, september and fall!
I was the spotlight operator for something called "Theatre Under the Stars" and the spotlight was up in a tower, and I had an awesome view of the moon from there. The last week or so, there were clouds around the moon, and it made it look that much cooler cause the light from the moon is cast onto the clouds and they're really thin clouds so it looks cool and every once in a while they kind of go over the moon but you can still see it and shit and it was really awesome to look at when I wasn't doing anything.
Crap it was good weather and sunny out today on the road. Made me smile.
It is sunny and hot and I stink of barbeque and sweat.
walking round the room singing stormy weather
at 57 mt. pleasent street
well, it´s the same room but everything´s different
you can fight the sleep but not the dream
things ain´t cooking in my kitchen
strange affliction wash over me
julius cesaer and the roman empire
couldn´t conquer the blue sky
well there´s a small boat made of china
it´s going nowhere on the mantel piece
well i do lie like a lounge room lizard
or do i sing like a bird released
everywhere you go you always take the weather with you
take the weather, take the weather with you
It got cold - lower 70's. It's feeling disturbingly fall. Otherwise sunny and the humidity broke which has been nice.

Shit. Those are insane.
What a day...the sun is out, birds are singing, bees are trying to have sex with them...as is my understanding.
im hoping for rain
Shit is getting colder these days man.
Earlier today it started raining heavily just after my housemate went out to look for his trousers. It made me chuckle.
!
I love the weather these days. It even makes long bus rides bearable. I went out last week and suddenly realized that the air was cooler and there was a wind and there are some dry leaves blowing along the ground and it most definitely is fall now, but it's still dry, and it's really damn cool. Makes me happy.
My dad borrowed a digital camera from work for the weekend. The weather yesterday morning.
That's a nice tree.
It is. And it gives me something to look at besides the sky. Also creates a nice contrast to the sky. That is the exact view out my window. So I'm always kind of looking at the weather. I'm waiting for it to do something interesting so I can take another picture.
Thursday evening was like having the air come to life, but it gently breathing as you would on your coffee, chilling the overheated cup we sit in before being taking in. I wore a thin suit jacket and after catching Henry Rollins spoken word, I stood outside watching 150 feet as he signed autographs and took many pictures till the group engulf'ing him blew away into a smaller pile of leaves. Listened to the man chat and the wind was whispering to my ears and I had a brief conversation with the man and took a picture with him and I walked part of downtown afterwards for a bit before circling towards my car. If I had a cigarette I would have loved playing with the dead air I sprayed the sky with as it flew, fading as a ghost. At home I stood by the mailbox just leaning and forgetting the night will end then I walked inside and found myself hoping for the same tomorrow.
Today, I linger with the scent of yesterday, I can still smell the cancer in my hair. I can only believe it is cool and sunny and the cars laughing by as another light turns red. I think of Galveston and my good friend Jen over the by coast and how the breeze must be a bit better there and how a city lies slightly crumbled and it pressing over it like crumpled sheets of yesterdays newspaper. Chicago comes to mind and I imagine it is starting to weep of early winter and the clouds lining up with neutral tones of gray. I'd like to see the snow, and I think these things and wonder why I haven't stepped outside today.
Nah, it's pretty sunny out, but it's getting cooler. The sun feels nice though.
The weather yesterday afternoon, after it stopped raining, and when it was too late to bus to Vancouver to take pictures. I really wish I still had the camera today. Today the weather was fucking perfect. I was walking home from the video store and there was the sun behind some clouds in one direction, and in the other direction, some cool-looking thin clouds and the blue sky behind them and half a moon, quite pale but visible nevertheless.

you must live in California becaus ethats all I ve seen this year in the bay area. If I wanted rain all the time Id move to fuckin Seattle.
