a music/art project
Hello all, i'm new here. Been reading chucks books for about two years now and they've changed my life.
currently, i'm living in a hole i dug for myself with drugs and alcohol. lots of debt, shattered friendships, etc. So I had an idea: climb out of the hole with an art/music project along with a friend.
Further posts as it progresses, any interest or ideas is well appreciated.
Thanks
Thank you, all very good suggestions indeed.
Personally at this point i don't think telling about myself would be the most useful thing, however, I am willing to post a few of my drawings if enough interest builds up. I'll get them scanned and ready.
Hopefully you all will find them interesting.
okay, here's a couple of my drawings. I'm putting them up in full faith none of you cool motherfuckers on here will rip them off, and if you do it's cool because theres always more where these came from and maybe it's good to just get this shit out there for the time being.
this is one i did of the Nine Inch Nails music video "Closer", sorry for the grainy quality but i used crummy pencils to purposefully give it that look.
This is one of a fairy, in some tripped out dimension.
Anywho, tell me what yallz think. As interest builds so will my output.
Peace.
Er. Are you a child that's on drugs?
LIFE IS A COW AND I'M A MOTHERFUCKING BUTCHER.
I'm going to playjurise that saying from this moment on.
"If someone were to tell me I had twenty years left, and ask me how I'd like to spend them, I'd reply 'Give me two hours a day of activity, and I'll take the other twenty-two in dreams.'"
- Luis Bunuel
I like your drawings, they're interesting.
"I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me."
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
Keep us posted, but tell us more about yourself so we have a reason to keep reading
I agree. Maybe if you tell us something about yourself as it relates to the artwork you're posting it would be more comfortable for you and of more interest for us. Why did you draw this? What influences you(other than the drugs)? What was your mindset when your made this?
It's a boring day, I've got nothing to do except to get a load of retards and drive 'em to the zoo
thank you for the replys everyone, although "are you a child that's on drugs" is not very helpful, many more commments like that and i'm saying fuck this place.
i don't know why i draw the things i do or where they come from really. that quote from hunter s thompson goes a long way toward describing it though. all i can say is there's something inside me, and one night i decided to put on a pair of freddy krueger gloves and reach inside and tear it the fuck out, and put it on paper. and i wasn't on drugs for my first drawing, FYI, but it kind of evolved that way. it's back to the point where i can draw completely sober. i listen to a lot of music like Combichrist, Velvet Acid Christ, etc as it spurs the creative process more than any other kind of music. when i listen to things like Death Cab, Owl City, stuff like that, i can't draw worth shit.
sorry if this all sounds a little fucked up, its just the way things are.
Peace
You won't last very long around here then if you're that thin-skinned.

Don't "fuck this place" based on the odd off comment. You're going to get shit wherever you go. Think of it as a right of passage. You've got to give as good as you get, I say.
I'm pleased you knew that quotation was Hunter S. Thompson. Have you read Fear and Loathing?
I absolutely love Death Cab. Do you listen to stuff like Helios, Brian Eno, Eluvium or Philip Glass? They're all pretty ambient but I usually feel reasonably inspired after a heavy listening session to one of those guys.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
sorry, i did overreact quite a bit. i deeply apologize for that, obviously i'm not completely in my right mind which is a tad bit understandable. I hope nobody is too badly offended.
Yes, I have read Fear and Loathing as well as seen the movie a number of times. Another of the many things that have influenced me.
I actually don't listen to any of those.. Call it ADD or whatever but ambient type stuff, as well as most mainstream pop and alt rock tends to bore me to tears. I like my music dark, heavy, and electronic. But that is cool you find inspiration in those, everyone has their thing. As some would say, "I'm an individual, just like everyone else" haha.
Take it easy guys, thanks for the positive feedback, and sorry for the backlash. Hope to hear more from you all in the near future.

also, if anyone is adequately interested (specifically you, kerplunk) i am willing to share a Hunter S Thompson-esque experience or two of mine. Maybe not here on the boards as i don't know if that would be too appropriate, but, Kerplunk, let me know if you would like me to PM it to you.
oh yeah and, Marmaladeskies, sorry for inadvertently ignoring your post. Its not so much that the drawings were even inspired by drugs, because as i said when i did my first drawing i was sober as a mountain lion. The drugs mainly just helped me shut out my surroundings and focus completely on the art. The themes themselves are inspired greatly by feelings of isolation and despair, characters who are trapped in these fantasy worlds of animals, creatures, surreal landscapes, and no logical rules, but they are entirely alone. rarely do any (or never, i can't remember) of my characters smile. They are eternally trapped, void of emotion, and have no idea how to reach out of their world. I realize this all does sound a little Tim Burton-ish, pretensious, and, god-for-fucking-bid, EMO, but it's also meaningful in it's pretensious meaninglessness. And FYI i have only seen one Tim Burton movie, Edward Scissorhands. I'm more a fan of David Lynch, Terry Gilliam, and other surrealist directors like that.
Also, I hope you don't mind me saying this, Marmaladeskies, but your picture is pretty cute.
I appreciate having seen your drawing, intothevoid.

It looks like you drew that shit with a crayon, of course you're going to get some negative feedback!
i sometimes do art too, tell me what you think. http://imgur.com/ApAI0.jpg

Why would it make it worse that he drew it with a crayon? Can't handle some ignorant art?

It wouldn't make it worse. I don't think it can get worse.

I bet you hate my crayon drawing and fingerpaintings! You bourgeoisie fuck!

I love this. The other one I don't care much for, but this one is great.

You guys can badmouth these all you want; he's still better than Jackson Pollack.

is he naked? Why does his asscrack curve off to the right like that?
six on the dot, you definitely have style and balls. Your art is badass as fuck, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
lol nathaniel, that is really something if that's actually your art. nice and bold.
Everyone, I've read through the comments and I more than appreciate the brutal honesty. Honesty is indispensible. I would never take a single art class, other than the one i took in high school. Due to my grounding in no beliefs whatsoever, i don't give a fuck about anatomy or cleaning up lines or anything period. my drawings are what they are and i don't plan on changing them for any reason.
You guys kick ass. Take it easy.
Sure, go for it.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
eh. i see no point in having an avatar. no point whatsoever.
Honestly i don't know why I did haha other than the fact i was incredibly bored.
Well thank you for the compliment into_the_void. I'm also a big fan of David Lynch. I have to agree with six on the dot about a bit of formal art education...maybe just check out some books or something to help develop the skills you already have.
It's a boring day, I've got nothing to do except to get a load of retards and drive 'em to the zoo

First suggestion: If you are doing drugs, don't do drugs.
Second: If you're in debt, don't buy drugs.
Third: Keep us posted, but tell us more about yourself so we have a reason to keep reading.
