That actually sounds like a rip off, seems to me people get deals like that on Greyhound for like 99.00.

anyway things have come to a bit of a halt. i had a temp job but it's already done and to get another basically requires starting the job hunt all over again so i figure fuck it let's take this pause and actually do something with it as opposed to sitting on my ass. of course this would mean i'd be staying with whoever will let me (either on this board or people i know otherwise) or i'll be sleeping in libraries or something heh but yeah what do you people think? would it be cheaper to just drive my own ass around? even if, that would still suck. i don't know it probably won't happen i don't see how i can raise the money without getting a job and if i get a job well then there goes my chance to leave but i might be able to work with my friend it's just fucking hard labor shit out in the texas summer sun but who knows or fuck maybe i'll just beg for my old job back at that fun warehouse. shit

any ideas/suggestions? i've got to fucking get out of this town again for awhile i haven't travelled in ages and here's my opportunity you know. how can i do this cheaper? the bus company i'm looking at is greyhound i don't even know of any others and google didn't help much.

$500 sounds like a lot of money to me.

it won't be cheaper to drive yourself if you plan on doing a cross country kind of thing. i don't know, tooling around the US is a great idea, but i doubt you possess the survival skills to not die/get mugged/raped/kidnapped in the process....

riding a bus sucks. it's cheap for a reason. at least with amtrak you can walk around and have an adventure if you get derailed. greyhound is like hell. when I was growing up and my dad was doing volunteer charity work to help out other people's families, as opposed to his own, we would go to greyhound stations and pick people up and so I spent a lot of time around those places and riding on some of those buses to places like eugene and portland and salem and roseburg and astoria in Oregon. Those places were even sorta scary at night, but I was young and alone a lot so fuck it, right, but still, people on buses are fucking insane. Even if you luck out and get a "normal" person sitting next to you, there's still like a bunchof freaks all around you, and god forbid the toilet should get overflowed because some jagnut used too much tp...

yeah i checked trains too but round trip from here to NY on bus = $230 while amtrak = $400 so....
i seriously doubt this is goign to happen

where are you getting these prices. Go to like expedia or some shit. I got rond trip NY to ATL for $180 on delta (yeah, an airplane). Just make sure you stay over a weekend and plan a month ahead of time.

i just want to do this cos i used to travel all the time and it's been years and i've got an achin you know? but i'm well aware of my financial constraints so as i said i probably won't be doing this but maybe who knows. actually i'm really giving the americorps or vista things a serious thought i need to look up some info on that come to think of it.

well the idea was enough people here and otherwise would be willing to let me crash at their place that i could just do that. ie: plan my trip according to where people will let me stay. it might be weird or risky or whatever but at this point i don't really care what happens to me i'm just not going to do it to myself on accounta my little brother

i've been umemployed since october so to me it doesn't seem that easy
granted i wasn't putting much effort into the jobsearch until these last two months but still two months of hardcore jobhunting and all i got was a few-day temp job i mean fuck one week i turned in over 100 apps that's fucked
if i get a fulltime job i'm not too eager to just quit like that you know
