2010, we hardly knew ye.
Post highlights (whatever you deem them to be) here from 2010.
These are some of mine.
- Driving from Chicago to San Francisco with my best friend and his two dogs in a 1986 Cutlass Sierra, almost dying a couple of times on the drive there and finally getting to California in one piece.
- Playing softball and winning the summer league.
- Getting my dog, Sinatra.

I got a job that I'll probably quit withing a few short months...
That's about it.

I had a pretty great year. Went to DC for the first time, ate my fill of foie gras for the first time, reconnected with some old friends through Facebook, quit a job I hated. Oh, and in 2010 I flirted with vegetarianism again, but it didn't stick. It was kind of fun while it lasted. I finally watched 'The Wire'! All of it in about five days.
This was a truly bad year in books for me though. Seriously, so many major disappointments.
I only read three books this year: The last two Harry Potter books and a pornographic novel.
All in about the last month. I just finished Deathly Hallows like 20 minutes ago.

Si vis pacem, para bellum
The worst winter/fall season for video games.
Getting into amateur professional wrestling.
Joined The Cult.
Graduated High School.
"The rat inside your brain rules the world."
Citizen Kane SUCKED!!!!!!! True fact.
Alcoholism is the cure not the disease.
Witnessed my sister give birth.
Housing market began to pick up again (even if it is slowly) which meant James had a good job this year (after being out of work, or in very shitty work for nearly all of 2009)
Concerts and camping.
Went to Montreal with my Grandma and got to spend quality time with I'll never forget with her.
My youngest began kindergarten, which means all four kids are in school now finally.
James' brother wife gave birth to twins, a little girl and a little boy, they were premature and the boy was so tiny he had to be in the NICU for a couple weeks, but he just got to come home two days before Christmas, huge highlight that he is well and growing. Also their birth brought our total to two new nephews an a new neice this year.
And tomorrow is our 9th wedding anniversary.
Also, I got super pissed about all kind of things last night and ended up yelling at James' mom that she needed to move out and she was packed and gone when I got up this morning!
I feel pretty guilty on one hand, but I didn't mean it needed to be right that minute, that part was her choice. I am relieved to no end.
I got four solid stories published and completed my New Year's Resolution to write one short every week on my blog.
Got a promotion and two raises at work. That was a surprise even to me.
Bought a 67 Plymouth as a project which will be pretty badass by next summer if all goes according to plan.

And musically speaking, this made my year:

2010 was pretty much just a treading water kind of year for me. I successfully became addicted to Vicadans, which is good. Had a great year watching Reds baseball, but that feeling was pretty much flushed completely away when the Bengals started playing. Only went to 3 movies all year, A Team, Inception and True Grit. All were incredible so that a good ratio. Going to see Black Swan this weekend, but that'll be on next year's list by then, so oh well.
Music in 2010 for me is summed up with Faggot Bruce, Paris & The Hiltons and the Daft Punk soundtrack. Again, i guess it's quality over quantity.
The biggest thing though is just things falling into place for a great 2011. We've started moving things into the new house. It's only 1 floor so we'll be able to get my dad out of the nursing home and back to living with us again. Should be finished with everything before February.
Everything looks to be getting back on track. Which is going to make it suck even more if the whole world does end in 2012.

good for you, pepper! it might not have come out the exact right way, but it's the right thing for all parties concerned, I'm sure of it.
As for me, well.. 2010 highlights.
1) getting married
2) getting married
Nothing else comes close to that, really. The feeling of relief when I finally was granted my green card after 6 months of waiting was pretty amazing, so that's probably 3rd on my list.
Musical highlights? I went to my first death metal show (Immolation). Also got to see Them Crooked Vultures, which was awesome. I'm sure there are others..
don't get too excited until you know it's gonna stick.
otherwise, you're just setting yourself up for some big time disappointment.
Oh, and this JUST happened:

gonna pretend I didn't hear that, Nate
The highlight for me for 2010 was learning to drive and getting my license.
I just went for a drive to get the bloke smokes and a couple of iceblocks for us!
That's about it really.
I think next year will be super exciting. It's almost 2011 for me!
Iceblocks? I though New Zealand was in the future...

HA! that was meant for the post about her mother-in-law moving out! my bad!
Popcicles? Icelolly? Waddyacallem?
So was the car supposed to fly over her or was she set up? Either way, kudos to her for not crying.

No... see, I was trying to get Adelaide to back up, and then Jules was telling her to back up so I was turning on the camera. I figured Jules would wait until the kid was clear. The video starts rolling and well, as you can see, Adelaide had not moved.
But yeah. She like, never cries about little things. She's tough as nails, that kid.

oh man. You don't even need to click play to now how that's gonna turn out. Ouch!

But the sound in slo-mo is just soooo dramatic. Sounds like a freight train.

I wanna make sure this doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
The perfection of bad timing would have been beautiful if it wasn't something so awful.

yeah, dude.. I was like 'wtf I didn't think Nate was an asshole'. Glad that's still the case.

At first I was like, "Man, she took pepper's mother in law moving out to heart!" But then I scrolled back up and I guess we posted those at the same exact second.
I am an asshole, years go by, that'll remain the same, but I gots some tact to go along with it.
I'd wait until you posted something about it being you're 10th anniversary and then say something like that. At least, then it'd have some sort of humourous element.
I still think Nate did that on purpose.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Disney's World of Color

Almost drowning in Kern River

Photographed a wedding

My Watchmen Class
Twerlyp.org

Sailor Jerry and a night in jail

I had a great chaotic Jazmyn kinda year.
Did you ever finish that thing about Women in Comics? How'd it go?
I don't think I did anything with the Women in Comics other than that one assignment. I probably could have went that route for my research paper but I chose to write about Rorschach and inkblots in Watchmen which my teacher ended up loving so that was cool.
1. Passing my Norwegian test.
2. Finding out I'm starting school in 2011.
Others:
Inception
Breaking Bad
Elsiane

That was beautifuly bad timimg.
I spent the whole day moving my daughter out of her brothers room into the room Laura (his mom) was using. Decorated and everything. If she comes back she gets the couch.
I probably sound like an uber bitch, but she showed up SIX MONTHS ago for a "visit" and never left. Excuse me, the 7th will have made it six months. And worse than that, she never got into cousiling, though I pointed her in the direction of several, including free services. She never made any attempt to get a life of her own, make friends, take a class, anything, just stayed around my house all day everyday. And NEVER looked for anywhere to live. Add to that the fact that she kicked James out of her house when he turned 18, let him stay in the garage only and leave at dawn a couple times when he had nowhere to go, and gave us and our kids a two week time limit the one time we asked ten years ago when we had no where to go.
Plus, I have sacrificed a lot to stay home with the kids all these years and this was supposed to be my year take a break and to have space to asses and figure out where I was going now and what I wanted to do to contribute finacially now that there arn't any babies. Then she just monopolized half the year away from me.
I have no problem helping family, but enough is enough. We helped my sister out back in 2008 and she had her own place and was back working in less than a month and a half. That is reasonable help responded to with reasonable will to help yourself.
end venting rant
If you're going to continue to cultivate this hip, jet-setter thing you've got going on, you're going to have to reassess that statement. Just keep repeating to yourself, "Oysters are delicious. Oysters are expensive. Oysters are an outward symbol of culture and status. Oysters sometimes amusingly contain semiprecious stones upon which I can delightfully chip a tooth."
This is why we can't have nice things.
are you talking about the on the half shell kind? Those ain't too bad. throw a little cocktail sauce on em and let em slide on down your gullet. Only problem is they're like a dollar or two per oyster! plus if you get a bad batch of them when they're out of season you could die.
deep fried oysters on the other hand are frickin' delicious!
What about clams or clam chowder?
Don't they all?
This is why we can't have nice things.
I got stranded in Barcelona
Went back to Rehab
and decided I want to marry a nurse.
Roll on 2011
Wow, pepper, I think you were more than kind considering that she's given you and James so little support in the past. That really sucks that she stole half of your chill-out/assess year! I would have kicked her out after two weeks!
2010 was also the year I spent collecting baseball cards online. I cashed them out to have shipped to me on Christmas day, figuring it'd take 6-8 weeks to get them. But they totally came in the mail today!
I've been squeaking like a little girl for the past hour!

2011 is the year I figure out how to work this camera to make videos. That's my resolution!
This explains a lot...

Just in case, I'm not able to check back on here before tomorrow, I wanted to say that I love you all in my own special way and hope you all have a great new year's eve and start to the new year and to those in the Eastern Hemisphere I hope you year has gotten off to a great start!

Nothing comes to mind.
I'll continue to ponder.
This was not a particularly wonderful year for me I think.
There were definitely some lowlights to be sure.
