I want to understand the forum spammer's mind. You set up an account, wait for it to be validated, then start a thread advertizing some lame product, knowing full well that you'll be deleted soon and all that effort will have been in vain. So why do it? Spamming the Cult and other forums can't be half as effective as emailing in bulk. Because if you're sending out some ad to thousands of people at once, you're bound to hit a moron or two who will buy it and check it out. But in a forum, especially one like this one, which, if you'll pardon my bluntness, is pretty incestuous and only regularly visited by a handful of users, your odds of being noticed and taken seriously are slim.
Do does the spammer simply relish in irritating forum moderators? Is he [I]paid [/I]to spam forums? Why doesn't he get a real job?
