Congratulations! I'm so happy to read through this thread. I look forward to many more pictures.
Always, always hold hands.
Good coffee is like drinking Rock and Roll.
Okay, now that we're back home and things settled down a little, I'll say a little something.
We had intended that weekend to be fun and relaxed, which was why we kept the party to a manageable size (about 50 people). The eve of the wedding we took our guests to the local Volksfest, which included a funfair, fireworks and more important a beer fest under a huge tent. Once everyone was served and was munching on a pretzel, I guess we both realised that we were getting ready for a very special time.
The wedding ceremony took place on Saturday morning at the Aschaffenburg city hall. The wedding office employee was very friendly, we had a translator for the french guests, and Derek as my best man in charge of the rings. We then had a boat ride on the river Main, where a buffet and the cake were served, and some music and singing took place.
Our last stop was the restaurant inside of the Aschaffenburg Castle, where we had more bubbly, our dinner and the dance, music provided by an excellent local band playing soulful classics.
Everything went fine, we had no serious hiccup, the weather was nice, and for us it went at an incredible speed. Our guests had prepared very sweet suprises in the form of songs, videos and more music, and I guess everyone had some good fun.
Your messages were very sweet and moving. Also Derek's presence and the way we met in here intrigued our guests, which allowed us to mention the lot of you, keep you all in our minds and feel very proud of belonging to such a great community.
More about that cunt Derek ? Well, he was a clear choice for my best man very early on during preparation, and our wedding without him wouldn't have felt complete. Despite the language barriers he was the perfect companion for that weekend, conquering everyone with his anecdotes, his humour and his helpfulness. We are extremely fortunate and thankful to have such a friend.
Finally, I will say a few words to pay homage to my wife Barbara. Ever since we met she took chances on me and in the process helped us imagine a common life. As some of you said online relationships are a risky game but we were lucky to find in each other someone we could be comfortable with, appreciate the good sides while being patient with the imperfections, and be happy now and in the future. Not so often can a guy say "she's the one" and in return receive the trust that will make the dream possible.
Now we've been actively working on the next phase of our plan to have a little Cultie, first in Cuba and now back home just to be sure.
Love,
Ludwig
PS: Barbara is currently working on the huge pile of pics of that great weekend, I guess she'll post a few more to illustrate my description when she's ready.

i´ve been scanning for the last 24 hours hundreds of nagatives of the disposable cameras we handed out to the guests. we didn´t hire a pro to take pics, because i only photographers i could have tolerated would have been vitaly or some high profiled, super expensive wedding photographer from madrid. so we trusted our guests to document the event and they did a really fine job. quite a few pics turnt out to be grainy, blurry snapshots, completly out of focus and those i actually like best because they are simply authentic.
as soon as i´m done with editing i´ll upload some of them.
Guys are supposed to catch the garter, not the bouquet. Or is it all crazy backwards over there?
also, did Derek do the patting all his pockets like he couldn't find the rings bit?
one of my favorite wedding stories is when I was best man at a buddy of mine's wedding and we were all in this little side room with the preacher waiting to come out and the preacher turned to my buddy and said he tells this to all the grooms of weddings he does and holds out a car key and says it's got a full tank of gas.
he did add afterwards that in 25+ years he's been marrying people no ones ever took the keys.
Ack !

Haha, those are great photos. Congratulations, you two!
ah, you two look so sweet...keep them coming
