What games are you playing right now?
Plants Vs Zombies.
We've already established that I'm easily amused.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.
terraria is on sale at steam now for $2.50, down from almost $10. i bought it.
same with limbo a few days ago and super meat boy.
And that's what I've been doing for the last few hours since i got the game today and, I don't know, it's just not working for me. Can't really pinpoint exactly why though. Something just feels... off.
Multiplayer is dead too, which is really disappointing.

We've already established that I'm easily amused.
Plants Vs Zombies also includes Zuma and Peggle. I'm set for life.

Killzone 3.
Pretty awesome.
Thinking about picking up BF3. Not sure for which platform though. Any suggestions? I want the one that performs the best.

And I did and, continuing the trend I started with AC: Brotherhood, hate it.
It's just a buggy, frustrating, headache-inducing mess of a game. They scaled back the destruction so much that it's barely noticeable and kind of pointless. And speaking of barely noticeable, if the game didn't remind me every 5 minutes that the game runs on the Frostbite 2 engine, I would have just assumed the game was built on Bad Company's engine. Game looks exactly the same. Maybe they should have just built the console version on that engine, then maybe they would have been able to have a bigger player count. Only 24 players on a map the size of a small city? You fucking kidding me? Killzone 3 looks loads better than this game and 24 is the minimum!
Adding to the frustration: laser sights and tactical flashlights that both the enemy and your own teammates can point directly in your face so half the time your screen looks like this. There's also that 5 second long dying animation where you slowly fall over to the side and watch your characters hand go limp which plays every damn time you get shot. I swear they didn't have that in BC2.
The players suck too. I was in a helicopter with this guy who just flew in small corners almost a mile away from the objective until he flew right into the ground and killed us all. Of course, a lot of blame for that falls on DICE for making the helicopter controls and unintuitive as possible. And I swear, there's more team-work in CoD. As soon as people spawn they scatter like roaches, taking whatever vehicles are available and high-tailing it out of there and making the rest of us have to hump it 1000m to the objective.
Even worse is the game isn't selling well online so there's no way I can resell it for near the price I bought it ($50). It's my own damn fault though. I had a plan to wait until I got some Amazon credit then wait around until I could get it for $15-20. But I got impatient and got it today as an impulse buy. My mistake and I'm just going to have to live with it. I'll keep the game but I'll be wiping the dust off the case every time I play it.

Crysis. It was on sale on PSN for $15. It's pretty good, but not as good as Crysis 2.
Order The Suffering: Ties that Bind on a whim because I the dude who won my PS2 on Ebay never paid up and I'm too lazy to relist it.
Thinking about getting Uncharted 3. Saw some footage of the multiplayer and thought it looked good. I'd start the series from 1 but I'm too cheap. If I like the single-player enough I may pick up the double-pack later down the line.

I only play games on the weekend so I'm still on Uncharted 1. I'm enjoying it even if it is kind of basic. The story is fantastic and I hear the 2nd one (which I have) is tons better.
I Redboxed Skyrim & played it for a couple days. Just not my thing at all. Walk around. Talk to everybody. Pick up quests... I just kept wanting to ask, "HOW U MINE 4 FISH LOLOLO?" *yawn*
Maybe next time Redbox will actually have something I want to play. Dead Island, f'rinstance.

anyone here on steam? my steam id is Tourista
after steam's holiday sale, i'm drowning in games. my console backlog was already piling up, too
PSN put the original Crysis on sale this week, picked it up. Feels good to play something close to a proper tactical shooter again, with sneaking and open expanses and an actual difficulty curve.
Just beat Crysis 2.
I great game let down by horrid AI and some really unstable graphics.
Crytek really needs to get it's act together before it releases any more games.

Justin if you really want Uncharted but aren't into story, I'd suggest starting elsewhere than 1. 3 if possible but 2 if you're strapped for cash.
I'm really just into the multiplayer first, the single-player second. I may end up getting the third game when it goes down in price a bit more.
Going back and playing Demon's Souls. Already beat Stonefang Tunnel and Tower of Latria and am working on beating Boletaria Palace. After that I just have to get through the Shrine of Storms and Valley of Defilement.

had uncharted 3's multiplayer been patched yet? i played through the campaign but didn't touch the multiplayer, mostly because i don't generally do multiplayer.
i'd read they needed to patch the controls because they were sloppier than they were in 2, and people were complaining.
did love the campaigns to all 3 uncharted games though.
justin, did you play the original crysis? im surprised to hear you say the ai in the sequel was bad - i'm quit enjoying toying with the baddies in the first.
I actually just downloaded the first Crysis off PSN. Enjoying it so far though I'm having to get used to the FOV and having enemies spot me from behind trees and boulders.
The AI sucks in both games, 2 more so because they didn't bother to adjust the AI's pathfinding from the first game. Basically the AI thinks it's fighting in a jungle instead of a city. Can't count how many times I've found an enemy running into a wall.
The Crysis games are weird to me. They are very good-looking games, but they also manage to be some of the worst-looking because the graphics are so unstable and buggy on the consoles. I think if Crytek focused more on making the console ports perform well then look good then the games would be a lot more enjoyable.

Beat Uncharted 1 tonight. Can't decide whether to move on to 2 or Bioshock. Probably Bioshock for some variety.
Anybody buy the Metal Gear Solid HD set?
I wish they would release Metal Gear Solid (1) for xbox. But the HD set has 2,3, and 4 (though that's not what they're called and I'm too lazy to look it up).
I was thinking of getting them because I need something new to play. I loved the original game for Playstation.
i read somewhere (and do not know if it's true) that the ps3 version of the MGS HD set has a download code for a free PSN copy of MGS 1.
I will find out for myself, eventually.
Sorry Pete. The HD set has 2, 3, and Peace Walker (the PSP sequel to 3's story arc)
Not to sound like a Sony fanboy but the X-Box 360 does not have the processing power to play 4.
But to be helpful, I will say that even as a stand alone game, MGS 3 (Snake Eater) is one of the greatest games of all time. 2 (Sons of Liberty) is fantastic as well. Peace Walker I never beat because of the PSP controls.
But 3 you could come in blind, not having played any MGS games and still be able to follow everything.
The chronology goes:
MGS3(PS2) - Portable Ops(PSP) - Peace Walker(PSP) - Metal Gear(NES) - Metal Gear 2(Japan only)- MGS(PSX)- MGS 2(PS2) - MGS 4(PS3)
Just installed L.A. Noire on my PC.

Prepare to be bored beyond belief.

My brother has been playing L.A. Noire and he's living it.
I think I'm gonna pick that Metal Fast Solid collection up. Thanks Mike.
I did it. I beat Demon's Souls. Awesome.
I know everybody talks about New Game+ but I think I'm just going to put this into the "To Sell" pile. I have enough games and to be honest I'm sick of this one. Loved it, but it was a long and frustrating journey, one that I don't intend to repeat.

Trying to play Skyrim. I get this weird OCD when I play RPG's, especially Elder Scrolls games. Every time I see a character bug out or if I miss a bit of dialogue because another NPC started talking to me or if I didn't like how that last fight went or even if I do anything in a way my brain perceives as "wrong," I have to restart from my last save. Sometimes I just start over with a new character (That's really the same character). I don't know why I do it, I just feel I have to. It's weird and I need to get over it. I've restarted from scratch like 12 times.
Uncharted 3. Waiting for it to get here. Can't wait. Like I said earlier, if I like the single-player enough, I'll probably get the duel-pack. Or maybe just the second game. Seems like everybody talks about the second game, but never really the first game. I'll admit, even from the trailers, gameplay, and the demo I played it feels kind of bland. Am I really missing out on much if I skip it?
Anywho, the Darkness II demo is rad. Love the art style, new upgrade system, and that little limey Darkling that follows you around everywhere. Will definitely be picking it up once the price goes down a bit.

Beat Uncharted 3's single-player. It was really fun and had some really great setpieces. Only real criticism is that the story felt disjointed somehow. It's hard to explain. But I'll probably pick up Among Thieves down the road sometime when I can find it for $10-15.
Also been playing the Gotham City Impostors beta. It's pretty good, but damned frustrating. Only think I've won one or two matches. And I think it was a mistake making the rocket launcher one of the default weapons/ Haven't been in a match yet where half the players didn't run around spamming the rocket launcher the entire match. Weapon damage feels schizophrenic too. Sometimes the machine guns kill in one short burst and sometimes it kills in 2 whole clips. Of course it is a beta, some of these issues may be ironed out when it's officially released. Don't think I'll be getting it though. It's fun and different but at the same time bland and kind of forgettable.
I'm fighting off the urge to rebuy one of the Fallout games. Recently sold my copy of New Vegas because while I thought it had better gameplay mechanics and a better story than Fallout 3, it had absolutely no atmosphere and the world was boring and flat (both literally and figuratively). Now Fallout 3 had to be one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played. Only problem is that I played through the game so many times when I had it that I practically know it by heart. Plus New Vegas' weapon selection spoiled me. Pretty much the only gun that's worth a damn in Fallout 3 is the combat shotgun. Get one of those in good condition (Another thing I liked about NV more, you didn't need to a level 10 repair skill to repair a gun to 100%) and a couple hundred shells and the game becomes a walk in the park, even on hard.
I'm really hoping Bethesda announces Fallout 4 sometime soon. Here's hoping they bring the bleak, survival horror-esque atmosphere from Fallout 3 back a long with the gameplay improvements New Vegas brought to the franchise (Companions, weapon mods, etc.).

i just bought assassin's creed 3 and 4 because both were on sale, like 50% off each, even though i haven't finished 1 or 2 yet, which i also have.
i think i have a problem.
i think i have a problem.
you can't finish?
i think i have a problem.
you can't finish?
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I've finished No More Heroes for Ps3 which is quite a crazy game btw. And now I'm smashing faces in Yakuza 3 (I'm in the middle now) and planing to play Yakuza 4 and Eternal Sonata next.

Played the Syndicate demo and quite liked it. Had never even heard of the original, non-FPS games before so... yeah... don't really care that how it supposedly "ruining" the franchise or whatever. Same thing about that XCOM FPS they're making.
You know, on some message boards I've seen people who are big fans of the old Syndicates and XCOM's admit that the new games do indeed look really good, but still say they will suck and won't play them because it carries the Syndicate/XCOM name. I will never understand this line of thinking. Fans are weird.
PS. Also I started playing the demo to that Kingdoms of Amalur (or whatever it's called) game and thought it was so incredibly bland and unoriginal that I turned it off after 5 minutes.

i can't get into any games lately.
i dont know why.

i dont know why.
:(
You're getting old. I know how it is (plus for me - old games > new games).

True.
Anyways, I broke my habit of only playing on weekends and beat Uncharted 2 last night. Then I watched the Uncharted 2 episode of "Hey Ash, Whatcha Playing?" in which the whole joke of the episode is in how much Uncharted 2 rips from the old show Firefly. Everything from the types of side characters to eerily similar plot points to the exact same spot of the body in which the main characters are shot in. It's a really funny video game web series that I highly recommend. They have an episode for most major game releases.
The only video game things I watch are the Zero Punctuation reviews and these guys:

I'm a big fan of Totalbiscuit's WTF is and Mailbox series. In WTF is... he gives great first impressions of games he's playing for the first time. I use it all the time when considering steam purchases.
Also, I adore Extra Credits. It's a thought provoking, silly series mostly focused on game development.
I watch Hard News on screwattack.com every weekday to keep up with video game news.
Also the comedy group Mega64 is freaking hilarious.
From video game shows I watch only Angry Video Game Nerd, and not regularly.

Eh, he's alright. But all he does is play old games and curse at what sucks about them.
Here's some HAWP. They can be politically funny.
Or just plain funny.
Here's Mega64. I couldn't stop laughing the first time I saw this:
A lot of their stuff is just bringing things from games out into the real world and seeing how people react.
I may go back to Bioshock and try it with a strategy guide because I couldn't get into it earlier, but my Christmas games have overshadowed the fact that I had yet to play ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection. So I'm currently playing Shadow.
I know you are supposed to start with ICO but SotC was the whole reason why I got the collection so..I've killed 7 of the 16 Colossi. It's really fun.
Recently bought a used copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution (for $14!), so I guess I'll be playing that soon.
Also preordered Syndicate. I'm on a cyberpunk kick apparently.

This seems amaizing.. I will definitely want to play this if I will get some time from my busy schedule...
12 out of 16 colossi down. Almost there.
Also, I've been tempted to buy the Simpsons Arcade Game that was released recently. It's one of the best arcade beat em ups of all time but if I buy it, I bet the same thing will happen that always does when buying an arcade game: I beat it once, and then regret paying 10 dollars for it. I'll wait for a sale I guess, but playstation plus member get it for free...
They have a mode though where you only get so many lives...hmmm tempting. Because my biggest problem with arcade ports is that you have unlimited lives and thus there is no challenge.
Just watched some gameplay. Turned me off. It's just like the others. Nostalgia is a bitch. I do have 10 bucks in my PSN wallet and am looking for a great multiplayer experience though so any suggestions would be nice.
Bought the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Giving Sons of Liberty a second try almost 9 years later. God I feel old.
Bring on Syndicate and Alan Wake's American Nightmare.

3 is my personal favorite game of all time.
Sons of Liberty is my favourite MGS. Awesome story that plays with your brain. It's a shame MGS4 finished all the holes in such awkward way.
Because there is nothing over the rainbow… - http://theunsunnyvalley.wordpress.com
MGS HD is on my buy list, when there's a significant price drop.
PSN+ just put FarCry 2 on offer for free, I'll be giving that a shot later.
Yeah, that was cool. I liked how in 4 every boss was named after an animal from MGS1, had a weapon from MGS2 and was feeling an emotion from MGS3.
I liked 3 because of the strange and fun bosses, the James Bond 60s feel, the most epic final boss fight and ending I've ever seen, and because it was a prequel, I felt it was the least convoluted story wise.
It's also funny when you kill someone from the other games, and you get the Game Over screen and your boss says, "Snake! You've created a time paradox!"

I really don't care that much for the story. I just want to jump around rooftops and stab dudes.
