toshiba netbook, a little help
i just got one of these, and it has this weird frame on the left side of my screen with like video settings and whatever, that pops out whenever i go near it. not sure what it's called. it just says toshiba at the top of this frame deal. i want it gone, along with all the other periphery associated with retail computers. anyone have one of these? what is this frame thing called? and what of the other toshiba bullshit can go? i havent used win-blows in a long time, so i dont know if any of this stuff is actually needed, or in any way supplementary in a good way.

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”

And you can't hate on Windows anymore as Apple has left you by the wayside with their fashionably high prices and natively compatible game free OS.
Sidenote: Is there any way to get free webcam software to improve on the stuff that came on my laptop? I can't do timed photos or wacky effects!
dunno about timed photos but this has effects. it's also free (open source).

edit: balls, nevermind. i think it's only for Unix.
i hate shit on my desktop. i have an hp netbook, the 1030nr with the 16g solid state drive. i keep it trimmed to nothing. i keep a few programs on my disk key drive and have an eight gig sd card plugged into the sd card slot for extra data--like my writing, some picts, and some family vids. if i have shit on my desktop, i erase it through the remove programs feature under control panel.
i love the little thing. it's a 10.1 inch. fast. easy to tow. i took it to mexico for our honeymoon and it was invaluable. the only problem i have with it is that multiple applications--say, going through multiple submissions at a time through the workshop--bogs it down a little less than preferred. i can generally only open ten tabs at a time before i start feeling the bind. but i can surf effortlessly, and without the frustration that my cellphone used to provide. i took the data package off and bought a netbook. im a big fan of that change.
but yeah, delete the programs you dont want by going through your start-to-control panel and the add/remove programs icon. get rid of anything you dont absolutely need. it's a great device. i'm happy with mine.

My laptop has the same crap on it. It should be under add/remove programs. Look for anything that says Toshiba alphabetically and then look it up on google.
