Street Fighter II...
Best game ever. Bar none, there ain't no other. Suckas better recognize!

Who also loves this game? Who?

Dude, those guys were wherever STREET FIGHTER II was. I got beat by a twnetysomething too like that, me being the thirteen year old or something. I remember one time when we were on vacation in Italy and they had a new version of the game )god, how many versions did they make?) and even there, there was an Italian there every time we passed the arcade, wiggling the joystick with furious force and slamming the buttons.
Ryu was always my favourite and the joy I got when I first mastered the high uppercut. The fireballs and roundtree kicks were pretty easy if I remember correct. You had to make a quarter of a circle and then hit high punch for the best and harderst of fireballs.
Don't forget the jump jab into a punch kick then uppercut combo that clobbered the opposition blind.
Wasn't there Street Fighter, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Championship edition, Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter III, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha II, Street Fighter vs Capcom, Marvel vs Capcom, etc. I can't remember them all.
I started out on SNES then got to the arcade versions. Every other fighting game owes it to SFII.
There's the Peter Piper Pizza Guy at every arcade. Mine was the Aladdin's Castle arcade guy. Except I went to the arcade once in a while. It's probably the same guy that hangs out at lasertag places and knows how to do that fucked-up rapid ducking and shooting method that pisses everyone off.
They all work at a diversions game room or live in their mother's basement with an SNES and SF II in the cartridge slot sobbing to themselves working towards unemployment on stained gizzlob mattresses.
I was fucking untouchable at this game. Probably still am.
That is all.
I would always be happy if I could pull off a hundred-hand slap or Blanka's electrical charge using the hard punch button. They kicked a lot of ass if you pulled it off and someone landed on it.
Has anyone actually played the FIRST Street Fighter? I keep forgetting to download a TurboGrafix 16 emulator and download the ROM.
Remember there was a rumour that if you finished the game without being hit once you'd get to play as a character that wasn't ever seen. I'm not talking about the bosses, but a mysterty character.
Of course, that was all a load of bull.
Never saw the original STREET FIGHTER. I always wondered, if it ever existed or they just started with II.

Remember people trying to pull this off and they just slam down on the controllers and groan and whine that they have to start all over or when someone wanted to play two player someone would stop him and say that he is trying to beat the game without being hit. How lame was that.

Remember INSERT COIN to continue and you have maybe one left? That sucked.
Remember INSERT COIN to continue and you have maybe one left? That sucked.
How about having the quarter slide through the video screen crack into the console when you were waiting for your turn.
Fucking Vega, man, he would always piss me off, that pretty-boy masochist.
The Wal-Mart in the town where I grew up had the arcade - there were always seven or eight kids gathered around it, and, just like everywhere else, the one guy in his late 20's who got his jollies by whuppin' the piss out of all of us. I remember he was really short - I was taller than him and like 10 years younger, but I wanted to be short like him, just 'cos he was good at video games. It was always a race against time to see if I could make it through the line of kids for my chance to play before Mom got through the checkout line and pulled me away. Sometimes, if the Street Fighter II line was way too long, I'd cut my losses and go play Golden Axe.

I like how generation gaps can be erased with a one on one video game.

I hated this ending.

Fuck, that's horrible.
Fuck, that's horrible.
Golden Axe was pretty badass in its day, least it was in my town. Guys turning into animals and stuff? That's quality. Still, pales in comparison to Street Fighter.
Oh yeah, I remember another rumor that Guile had some super-secret combo where he just pulled out a gun and shot the other guy.

Or stranger Killer Instinct. I just like the ultra fast hits you could do in that game.

But look at it sparkle.
Oh yeah, I remember another rumor that Guile had some super-secret combo where he just pulled out a gun and shot the other guy.
I remember reading about this. I think either someone hacked the graphics or part of the background would look like a gun in Guile's hand when he did that swinging backhand punch. It wasn't anything legit, I remember that.
But look at it sparkle.
It was just so freakin' ghey that Blanka, this beast from the wilds of the Brazilian rainforest, turned out to be some clodhopper named Jimmy. Fuck Jimmy.

I heard about that yeah. Guile always looked silly to me with that haircut of his.

Did anyone else sneek a peek when Chun-Li did that upside down twist to see if you could see her panties or not? Come on, you know you did. Boon, code X!

I'll fess. Always tried to make out some Cammie-toe in later versions, too.

My sister was the player who'd just press random buttons and kick ass every so often, especially as Chun Li. This pissed me and my brother off quite a few times.
I'm sure you guys know at least one person who'd do that, unless you are that one person.
Fuckers.

My sister did too. She'd went 'haihaihaihaihaihaihaihaihaihai' along with Chun-Li which annoyed me hella more.
I'm in love with this thread.

I always hated Bison and Sagat, those Thai fuckers. Especially Sagat with his tiger attack cheesing.

Personal favorite characters: Ryu and Fei Long.

Okay, followed the post and everythin, but why the picture of indian guy and cammy? They don't even belong with what you are saying.
He's Mexican and it was the first picture that came up so I just said fuck it and threw it on there to add some color.
He's Mexican and it was the first picture that came up so I just said fuck it and threw it on there to add some color.
I don't recall him being mexican.
You fight all in front of the market where the dudes are standing with the sombreros and burros and what not. I can see the little stage selection screen in my head and it was totally México from which he hailed.
Me and my friend Shane are actually planning for an SF2 tournament in the near future. Five bucks a head, winner takes all. I can't wait. I fucking dominate with Dhalsim.

I never had a Game Genie. I seem to remember from reading about the codes that Ryu and Ken could kick a lot of ass in the air.
AIR FIGHTS!!!
Explain please.
One of the things that would really piss me off: when you'd get cornered by E. Honda and he'd do his 100-hand slap and you'd just be stuck there and KO'd and couldn't do shit. At least when people tried the same type of thing with Blanka you could escape and just hit him with a projectile to knock of his zappery.

Fei Long was supposed to be Bruce Lee, and Balrog, Mike Tyson.
The low kick, which was like a knee pointing outward, did the trick when Honda was doing the thousand handclap. Sometimes.
I like how you are giving pointers still on this game. hehaheha
I like how you are giving pointers still on this game. hehaheha
It's like learning to ride a bicycle. You don't forget this shit.
Heha-Heha? What kinda dorky laugh is that?
Down, Diagonal, Forward- high punch! HOOOO-YOOO-KEN!!
It's like learning to ride a bicycle. You don't forget this shit.
I'm kinda scared to jump on one now since it has been ages since i've ridden one. I'm afraid I'll jump a curb and land on my crotch on the triangular seat and hurt my groin. It will be like that blopper reel on the simpsons film festival thing with the guy getting nailed in the crotch by a football and falling down saying "My GROIN!"

I remember going to the peter piper pizza down the road when i was in sixth grade and me and my friend would play the crap out of it, but there was this one guy who worked there that understood the mechanics of that game like it was his secret religion or he was part of this secret higher order of capcom. At any rate he would destroy us any time we played that game with any character and we didn't suck we were pretty good, but he threw down with devastating results. Eventually one day we wanted to go play the game there when he wasn't there so we devised to get there when the place opened at 10:30am (yeah I know nerds) so we ride our bikes and petal over and we step inside and buy a soda and start walking over and then we get to a halt and their is that bastard leaning on the console sipping at a Big Gulp sized soda and then he sees us and we end up saying fuck it and play him. He beats us a three times then out of my ass I kick his ass in the game and I high five my friend and tell him "How's it feel to take it hard from a 12 year old!" He just gets all red and then says, "Oh thats fucking it now its on." He destroy us with us never laying a touch on him and we never went back to playing that game there ever again. But I still had my moment of fame where I trounced the Peter Piper Pizza Guy in the arcade room. I was a god for like 5 minutes!
....yeah Baris, I like that game too.
