So I've been playing Halo2 for about two weeks now
Just the multiplayer with 8 guys system linked. It's amazing. Duel weilding really plays an important role. I've found myself running around maps hoping my hud tells me to hit Y to pick up a second SMG. Get that sucker and aim down at an opponent and the recoil will make you aim upwards towards their head. It's like you're running a Swiss cheese factory with this setup. And what's really cool is that all the weapons are badass. I'm finding myself choosing the correct weapon depending on level design as opposed to Halo1 and just using the pistol all the time.
The level design of these maps are flawless. Some of them remind me of mario64 or some super dirt bike stunt extravaganza they hold in stadiums. Seriously. Like you have to walk these long narrow planks that are like 200 feet up in the air. On Zanzabar, there's this spinning rim kind of thing. It's huge and it spins slowly and it can lift you up in the air. Even warthogs. I had the flag and someone was chasing me and I let this thing lift me up and when it became horizontal I walked along it's spokes and it brought me to the other side of the map and I was able to escape. There's functionality too. Buddy of mine found a switch that makes it go in reverse or something. Couldn't figure it out. Sometimes I would just stare at the graphics and zone out.
The character models are really detailed now. It still looks like Halo, but you can tell that everything graphic wise has been tweaked.
It's more fun than Halo1. What stands out the most is its multiplayer level design. Overall I feel that their marketing rep hit the nail on it's head when he said, [I]"Halo 2 is a lot like Halo 1, only it's Halo 1 on fire, going 130 miles per hour through a hospital zone, being chased by helicopters and ninjas."

oh. duh.
OK played it again for like 4 hours last night. It's amazing. Probably the best multiplayer I've ever played. I'm so tired right now though. Can't muster up an inkling of an impression other than that come Novermber 9th, the world is going to change. Not really but it's like a really fun game and stuff and it will probably eat up a lot of my time.

yeah, you're looking a little pale. Maybe you should get outta the house for a bit.
The real question is: Which game is going to rock harder, GTA San Andrea or halo 2?
My hopes are on Halo, but I'll get to play both so I'm satisfied.
as of right now im having a hard time seeing anything being as hot as san andreas. the more i play it the less and less i see the xbox. my clan is getting pissed, and my shot is going to hell.

Thanks for the mini-review, my mind is at ease for any doubt I had this game might not live up to my expectations, but its good to know this game is going to kick my ass, fuck the election, I can't wait for Nov. 9th. Only downside is I'm going to be torn between the two worlds of Halo 2 and San Andreas.

I haven't played GTA SA. Yeah it sounds awesome, but you can't go online with 16 other people with warthogs flipping and exploding, tires flying everywhere like rubber fireworks and behind you there's some asshole with a covenant sword slashing your teammates left and right and your chasing down a flag carrier who's hiding behind pillars and jumps out at you going Jet Li on your ass and you dodge a rocket as it crashes through windows while at the same time you pick up a SMG and duel wield a neelder and you happen to return the flag as the flag carrier flies through the air with his ass on fire and you look over at your teammates screen as he caps their flag and wins the game and you notice that 5 hours have gone by and you haven't so muched as blinked and you're close to pissing your pants and you're high-fiving and someone screams through a bong and blows out smoke and goes FUCK YEAH YOU MOTHERFUCKERS CAN SUCK THE SHIT OUT OF MY ASSHOLE GAME OVER TOUCHDOWN!
Yeah, GTA SA sounds awesome, but I haven't played it.

I just got the game. I had one of my Sgt.'s pick it up for me. Im holding it and waiting to go play it but I have to wait another 5 1/2 hours... FECK

I just got it and my eyes are bleeding...that pretty much sums it up
Mine has been sent... I can't wait.
Fifty minutes until I get home and pop in the retail version. My hands are sweaty, my legs are shaking, and I feel like a totally fucking nerd and I can't help it.

My copy was dispatched today. I'm so. fucking. excited.
It sucks being in England though, where I had to wait two days longer than everyone else.
WOOHOOOOOO we just got it

mmm, i just rented it yesterday (don't have 50 bucks to spare right now). It rocks my socks.
Я получил Halo 2 вчера вечером. Я люблю это, но ожидаемый больше. Что я ищу, неясен, но я разочарован. Вы не можете возвратить открытые видео игры также. Дерьмо.
I've been gone for the past two days playing this game. It is truly and deliciously fawesome.

Yeah. I think I've lost about 5 pounds since November 9th and have slept only 10 or so hours.
This game is going to be the death of me.

i have no money so i can;t go out. i'll just have to sit at home and play halo 2. oh darn.
yeah, it plays really smoothly, and its violent and fun. looks really good too.
my only wishes are:
1. that they didnt make the pistol a piece of shit
2. that you could duel wield a pistol/sword.
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
My only gripoe besides the pistol being utterly useless is that while the story is pretty damn impressive, the ending is just brutal (not to give it away for those who have yet to play). It's like you're going going going and then bam, you skreech to a halt. Otherwise the game is flawless.
yes, agreed about the ending.
i think someone (aka Bungie) just wanted to release this fucker
before christmas, so that Xbox had something that could compete
vs Playstation's San Andreas.... until of course, that is out on Xbox.
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
My friends and I have been playing Halo 2 on cooperative for a while and are pretty far into it, so far it’s really cool. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good fps and story.
the pistol being utterly useless
Getting rid of the zoom was a great idea. I used to destroy people halfway across bloodgultch with that thing. I got so used to it that I didn't use any other weapons.
But the pistols in Halo2 aren't useless at all. It's now used for what it was intended for: Closed range combat. Pick this sucker up and duel wield it with an SMG, go for headshots.
I went on a killtacular camping the enemy base in waterworks. I could hear them going, GET PEPPER NOW, GET HIM!
The pistol is not useless at all, you just have to practice duel wielding with it and you can become unstoppable.

^that's good to know about the pistol. I'm a narrow minded conservative when it comes to Halo, I mean without the scope the pistol just felt awkard. But, it's good to know that when used properly its a close range massacre machine. I have yet to go kill crazy with it because my multiplayer has been limited to four player, hopefully x box live will blow my fucking mind.
I've just finished it. I loved it but felt similarly cheated with the sudden ending. No doubt I'll have it completed on all the different difficulties shortly.
The only time I get to play multiplayer Halo (1 or 2) I have to wait until my young nephews come over from Ireland, then I get to play me and my two brothers against four on the system link.
Is Xbox live worth it? I might consider it at some point.
I enjoyed the ending and the game as a whole. It had non- stop action and a great plot. Yet I can see how some people were a bit miffed at the ending.
All along the way answering some integral questions and building on other questions. In the end I think that they did the right thing story wise. There was no real way the build upon the story any more without ending the game(s) in their entirity and wrapping up the whole story altogether. But I was most disappointed with the lack of Earth missions. I was so hyped up to have to war go to Earth and to be able to fight in the streets along with fellow marines. When I found out that the Earth campaign was only a few levels I was a little sad.
All in all the game is a power house of sorts and it was all that I could hope for as a Halo fan. I got my moneys worth! And yes, Xbox Live is worth it.
I've played Halo 1 & 2, and I have to say it wasn't that big of a deal to get 2. So now I can hold 2 guns, whoah..... I guess I expected more.
XBox live is definately worth it though, the game has more character that way. It's good to not be able to see your opponents screen. That alone makes it more like combat and intensifies the game a bit.

so the main changes are:
dual wielding
cool new weapons (battle rifle, smg, homing rocket, covenant sword)
able to jump onto moving enemy flyers and glass them
able to play as a rogue alien (or i think he was a rogue, i got preety smashed on wes's balcony before playing) with invisi mode
um
more ways to customise yo playa's appearance, wearing colourz
have i got all the major changes?
You forgot the bicycle, being able to work out, growing your afro, the three full cities and the chic 90s gangsta setting.
you forgot this is the halo thread
ha!
you crazy longbeach kids

FUCK THAT!
I tried for a whole hour on legendary and didn't get throught the first level! Its tougher than Halo 1's legendary setting, it seems like you have the same amount of health as the elites, They seem to have the same health as before only their shelids come back quicker.
The new Heroic setting is more of my cup of tea for now....

Yes, that was my main disapointment too.
ok dudes, (pepper), i get the 2 magnums thing now
it rawks. if you score a double headshot with 2 pistols = instant death
omg, and i love that sword.
best weapon ever.

yes, swordfighting is a crucial element missing from even the most highly anticipated games
parrow, lunge, thrust THIS, space troll motherfucker!!
The snipers on lengendary go too far, TOO FAR. One hit from a sniper kills you 90% of the time, and you never see'em. Never.
I'm level 8 in the big battle rankings. Anybody else doing matchmaking?

how true
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
Theres the Howard Dean scream in the game when you play as the master cheif, one of your marine teamates will make the sound when attacking. I heard it and just googled it to see if it's true.
Theres a teamate that sounds excactly like David Cross too.
edit: just googled "david cross halo 2" and his name came up, he did voice work for the game.
"David Cross Halo 2-GTA Q&A - 08 November 2004 17:00 - John [JCal] Callaham User Comments : 0
1Up.com has posted up a new Q&A with actor David Cross as the co-creator of the cult comedy series Mr Show and one of the stars of Arrested Development talks about his voice work on arguably the two biggest console game releases of 2004; Halo 2 (as a funny space marine) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (as the character Zero)."
