They look good, but I'm still not convinced that either the PS3 or the XBOX 360 deserve to be called next generation. Really those graphics look about as good as some maxed out XBOX games currently, a little better to be sure, but not by leaps and bounds. I'm dissapointed so far.

Prepare yourself? More like forget about it. After all the long, long, long, long, long wait. This what the "super" machine can do?

Yeah, i know how the games will display better graphics in "time", meaning more time, meaning more preparing.

Anyways,
Is there a page were they have detailed specs of what the machine would have?

seems it has nine processors to the XBOX 360's 3, I'm not exactly sure what all that does though.

Well, the Playstation's leap over it's predecessor is certainly greater, but neither is much better looking as yet than XBOX 1.

my friend and i were talking and we both agreed that from what we saw, and what we have read that the xbox2 will be this gen's gamecube.

its playing trends (custom face plates, please!)

ive heard more than one place that a 500$ price tag will come on at least the loaded one.

ive seen nothing to show me that its not just another box thats built on the sole purpose of playing fps. which is fine, but its not everything. (and perfect dark zero for all the tease, for sure wasnt anything special)

from what i can tell the specks for the nintendo revolution and the 360 are really close. and i bet nintendo's will be cheaper.

The PS3 didn't blow the XBOX specs out of the water like people were expecting. I wouldn't underestimate Gates' marketing savvy nor his willingness to take the market in any fashion he can. He doesn't give a toss about the gaming industry, he's after the grail--being the all in one entertainment center in your home when everything moves online. When you download every TV show, when you download every movie, when your fucking TV is your phone. He's looking at that market, and it's barely suggesting itself now. But, come 2010 when the life cycles run out, it'll start to be more important and he wants XBox to be what people are familiar with.

By 2015 I bet there won't be much difference between your comp, your TV, your gaming console and your phone.

ive got a friend who has been going on and on about this thing. He says it will be going at like 3 teraflops/second. I cant remember what that means (i learned what it meant reading Rudy Rucker books a few yrs back) but its pretty fucking powerful.
Those screens are pretty nice.

They aren't what I'd hoped for though. I'm waiting for the system that has gameplay which looks like Final Fantasy: Spirits Within....

Or a holodeck.

The console looks okay (a bit bulky), but the controler looks awful. It looks like a 3rd party PS2 controler.

At least the specs are great.
Its already an x-box360 beater

Also it seems they've stolen the Spider-Man font

A teraflop, if memory serves, is one trillion floating point operations per second. Floating point ops (particularly the divide operation) is the slowest arithmetic that any processor does. Of course, raw measurements of computing power are only the beginning of determining performance, but it's a fair start.

I am so glad that I'm becoming numb to video games. I used to be such a junkie, but about all I do anymore is play backgammon on yahoo games with my dad or tetris on my cell phone. Gaming evolution has been slowing down for years. Even "revolutionary" games like Grand Theft Auto 3 are retreads of old ideas with a new spin on them, more blood on them, more bells and whistles, bigger plots.

It's an expensive habit, both in money and in time. I can't deal with it anymore. I haven't picked up my PS2 once this year. I stopped about 4 hours into GTA San Andreas, and as good as that game was, I don't miss it. I am getting so old.

I'm familiar with the site, mostly becauase of this page right here. They were very kind to me.

Oh, those were the days...

ok it's confirmed it just hate how both consoles look. That fucking boomerang of a controller, the other one shouldn't have changed at all (except the wireless thing).

Time to stop gaming really.

I agree with you. The games haven't been revolutionary at all, much more repetitive and every new outing filled with bells and whistles, and more technology.

This new breed of consoles and its push to make their way as insipensable as a TV. Generating more quick fix. Is what the new literary world is up against.

The actual live footage for Killzone 2 was most impressive, however the debate remains as to whether or not it was prerendered or in game. If it was truly in game, well... XBox is completely fucked. It looks like a CGI movie.

I'm not sure the literary world is really in direct competition with TV and Video Games. I think the schism happened a while back, though I suppose you could argue that the future demographics (kids and teens) remain in contention.

It is mainly about the future. I am still hoping the new literature becomes even more powerful of an image than TV and Videogames.

Then again, every book that makes a good dent in people's minds, gets turned into a movie, and then they never read the book.

Edit: Or made into a videogame that has little resemblance to both the book and movie (like Fight Club).
