Problems with Getting Free Yahoo E-mail.

I don't know that that they do this, but It's possible that AOL is blocking your access. I know that when people have google search boxes on their page, they can have google block certain links from showing up when you do a google search from their portal. For example, say Ford had a google search on their site, they could have links to chevy blocked if you search from their page. It could be something similar.

I just signed up for a dummy yahoo account and went through the whole process with no problem.

Same here, Jekyll. I didn't have a problem either. And you know I use AOL too.

Have you tried it on a different computer? All it takes is registering the account once, and then you can check it from anywhere.

Funny, I just set up a gmail account for the site, so all my webmail will get forwarded there instead. I was originally doing this with Yahoo, but it peeved me that there were no format options in Yahoo Firefox when composing mail.

Well, guess what?

There's no compose mail format options in gmail either! Neither in IE or FF.

What the hell is wrong with these places? Shouldn't this feature be a given?

Yes, and where are the format functions? Attach File or BCC someone doesn't count. I'm talking about Bolding, Underlining, Italics, Inserting Pictures into the mail window, inserting Hyperlinks etc.

3....... ouh Dennis. I'm about ready to say screw the change since you said you're running into problems with getting pictures, inserts, and formats.

I might have to keep AOL and stop bitching at the moment, since it's only a matter of logging onto the cult to get my PM's, although I miss the treat of getting notification.

I cut and paste the workshop stories into AOL's e-mail for printing reasons, so I'd rather sacrifice the Notification option, since we don't yet have a printing option in the workshops.
once we do have an option i wont have any reservations about telling AOL to SOD off. i even tried calling and they still run me in circles.

I love my gmail account. And I think soon they will have more formatting options. It's still in the beginning stages and they keep changing and adding things.

Quick little update ont he AOL problem. I spoke to a tech yesterday for about a half hour and gave him all the info he needed. But the connecting IP address I gave him isn't showing up on their blacklist. So I've now got Dream Host (our host server) back in the mix and things might get solved soon. I'll let ya know. Until then, don't give up on AOL yet.

Thanks Dennis. It would make my life easier not to have to switch everything around, so i really appreciate you sticking with it. I do find it strange that we are the only ones with AOL. :confused:

Yeh - I've heard rumours that formatting options are around the corner - but obviously that could be a long way off.

They do keep changing it though. I tried to do a spell-check the other day and I was stumped - where the hell is the spellcheck key? They had moved it from the bottom to the top, so they're obviously jiggering around with this thing gradually.

How many people have they got on the beta test site now? Must be a hell of a lot.

I used AOL for quite a while, but after a series of persistent problems I had to ditch it. I use these email addresses for work matters, so it's a bitch when they reject messages/seize up/delay send etc for no apparent reason.

So far I have had no problems whatsoever with Gmail, and I love the clean design and the gig of storage. As Dennis says though, the only drawback is the limited [SIZE=4][COLOR=Red]form[/COLOR][/SIZE][COLOR=Green]atti[/COLOR][B][SIZE=6]ng[/SIZE][/B].

ha ha! It already has, that's how I broke my first computer. I did the classic melodramatic pick it up throw it against the wall thing. Poor guy, it was an e-machine, I expected too much.

As for g-mail. they still haven't reccyled the name I want, it still says it's taken even though it's not. I wish I knew how long it takes to recycle a user name. I did ask some administer who hsn't gotten back to me. I wont hold my breath.
