Metal Gear Solid the Movie
Here is a oficial confirmation of rumours about MGS movie. There is nothing there now but at least we know for sure now.

It's almost sure that Viggo Mortensen will play Snake
Because there is nothing over the rainbow… - http://theunsunnyvalley.wordpress.com
I honestly can't think of anyone. However, Snake Pliskin (Kurt Russel in Escape From New York) was the inspiration for Snake's personality in the games. That's why he used the code name Iriquios Pliskin in MGS2
I AM MARRIED
maybe he don't look like Snake but I think Clive Owen would be good.
Because there is nothing over the rainbow… - http://theunsunnyvalley.wordpress.com
I've often fancied the idea of a MGS movie. Never could decide on Snake... probably best as some unkown actor: not bringing any baggage to the role. I'd buy Vigo as snake, if he bulked up for the role a bit.
Some of the other parts I thought would be good:
Psycho Mantis: Richard O'Brian (Not for rocky horror, but because of Dark City)
Revolver Ocelot: Gary Oldman
DARPA Chief/decoy octopus: Dennis Haysbert
Vulcan Raven: Sonny Lanham (Billy from Predator) Was also thinking Will Sampson (Chief Bromden from One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest) but he might be too old now.
I don't remember the rest I thought of... it has been a while.
"...human speech is like a cracked tin kettle, on which we hammer out tunes to make bears dance when we long to move the stars."
with my friends we have such idea for cast:
Revolver Ocelot - Christopher Walken
Roy Cambell - Jon Voight
Meryl - Keira Knightley
Raiden - Uma Thurman
got any good idea for Otacon?
one of my freinds said that Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost) should play Snake.
Because there is nothing over the rainbow… - http://theunsunnyvalley.wordpress.com
Hmm... I don't know this Josh Holloway, which would work well for my purposes anyway.
I like christopher walken, but I think he's a little old for this part. I think he'd do a great job as ocelot... but... old. That's pretty much all I got. I also have this image in my mind of Ocelot being very fluid and smooth, and Walken gives very choppy and halting deliveries to all his lines. I don't know... It could work. So could harvey keitel...
I like jon voight as cambell but I also like Richard Crenna. For me it'd be a tie.
I never could pin down a Meryl. I couldn't think of any working actresses (thinking strictly in the body-type) that fit the bill. Keira Knightley could definitely pull off the attitude, but she's so tiny. She could work up to it though. Yeah, I could see that.
Raiden? Raiden is going to be in the metal gear solid movie? hmm...
No. No good ideas for Otacon. lots of not workable ones: a young jeff goldblum, a young harold ramis, a skinny and young stephen root... the list kind of goes on like that. If they changed it so that he wasn't quite so young, any of these would do... so would geoffrey rush, or william h macy. Hell, if they take out the age issue -- not a big deal -- it could be any of a hundred.
Was thinking that for the body actor for grey fox Tony Jaa (Ong Bak:Thai Warrior) would be excellent. Can't think of a good voice actor though.

It's not sure is this movie will be based on one of the games or will be a new story so Raiden might appear in it.

In MGS 4 trailer he looks quite cool in that ninja armor.
and about director, there is a big chance Ryuhei Kitamura will be in charge.
He's good old buddy of Kojima from school years, and he was directing cut-scenes in MGS Twin Snakes on GC.

I am not a huge Uma fan but that is the best person for that role. Otacon character should perhaps be played by Liam Niessen. I am not sure for Otacon...that is a tough call.
hey, and who should play Sniper Wolf? any ideas?

Salma Hayek

I thought sniper wolf was iraqi. OOPs am I wrong, if yes, I will have to re-think my suggestion.
She is the blonde chick...I forgot...I think it should be Anna Kournikova. Sniper Wolf has a small role in how, so it doesn't matter.
it's a problem. as far as I remeber she was born soemwhere in Balkans, but I will not give a head for that. She was speaking with a east europe accent.
and she was blond and Salma is not.

I wouldn't be so sura bout that. Wolf was the most tragic character in whole game (next to Grey Fox) it should be a professional actress.

sorry but I don't buy this idea. She looks like a sweet blond, and I don't think she would be good in playing a professional killer.

for someone that seemed interested in everyone elses thoughts
youre shooting them all down pretty quickly
Videogames are never meant to be movies.
I don't agree but it depends on way how they are adapted for a movie. movies based on games oftenly don't have too much common with the vidogame beside the title. Silent hill is a great exampel of a movie that was screwed up by not treating orginal game with enough respect. But movie based on your favourite Halo will be made in 2008 and I can say that it have a potencial (just like MGS that is a very cinematic vg). But after SH I'm more careful in my expectations.

I have to say for this one idea I'm not convinced, but there was ealier a lot of good ideas. and that's only my opinion but because no one else want to comment those propositions except me than it looks like I'm the only one who have a right to judge others ideas. And it don't work that way but I'm the only one who gvie any (even negative) response.

what are you basing this on? it struck me as one of the most faithful renditions of a game to movie
Maybe combining the first and second games storylines into one movie?
I still think if they would have geared the film as a silent movie and let the images and music and sound effects just tell the story it could have been one of the all time greatest horror movies

I've never played HALO but whatcha think about them suggesting Denzel Washington as Master Chief?
does the guy ever take his helmet off in either game? its awfully hard for a movie to have a sympathetic character that the audience never once sees their face
in fact, R2D2 is the only character i can think of that successfully did that

Silent Hill movie was lame because they use first part of the game and change almost everything. they have change completly cult that was living in Silent Hill, they didn't mention nothing about samael, they change reason why alessa was burned and totally changed sherryl character (in movie she was named sharon or something). And final scenes in church was a total failure. And that movie wasn't even scarry. To hell with such movie.

if you can honestly tell me Pyramid Head wasn't one of the baddest ass villians in a movie from the last 5 years I'm never speaking to you again! the only thing that would have made Sh better was just him onscreen for 2 hours !
yes, he is one of the best vidoe game bosses ever (next to Sephiroth and Psycho Mantis). But in movie he was added only for fans, because he was tooken out of context. if someone don't know vg then he's just another monster. This movie would be better if it would be made by some reall director and not by ....(shit, there is such lovely word for that in polish but there is no english equivalent)...let say manufacturer.

This movie would be better animated, thats my opinion. Mainly because I can't see many actors out there right now playing many of the roles. Daniel Craig as Liquid Snake though, of course. John Voight for Ocelot, maybe.

Okay:
Josh Harnett as a young Snake would be perfect cause just remember how he looked in the PS1 version
Bruce Willis with an accent as Revolver Ocelot- remember The Jackle and Willis' mustache.
Kiera Knightly (or htf) as Meryl
Jon Voight is a good choice for Col. Campbell
Hugh Jackman would be best for an older Snake- his acting sucks but he looks the part.
Toby McGuire for Otacon... eh? If he was taller.
Ryan Seacrest as Raiden
Tom Cruise as Metal Gear
and
um

FF: Advent Children is a good movie, and anyway what you expected from those movies if they are made by the worst manufacturers (they don't deserve to be called "directors") in hollywood.

It seems like FFVII:AC was a quick handjob for fans of the game... Regardless, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
To me, MGS always felt like a movie with gaming sequences. A movie wouldn't feel the same as the game and probably present nothing new, and that's if the movie is well casted. In any case, I'll wait for a trailer before I form a more in-depth opinion of the MGS movie..
In any case, I'll wait for a trailer before I form a more in-depth opinion of the MGS movie..
to do that, we will have to wait veeeeeeeery long. it won't apear sooner than in 2008.
aslo about Halo movie they changed screenplay writer and director - Guillermo Del Toro said "goodbye" to this project. so they won't start filming it soon.

They've changed writers, directors, producers and actors so many times, they'll probably never get to filming.

IMDB is in no way official, but the fact is the movie is official. Someone on the page commented, "Make this movie animated" and I'm starting to agree.
