Bird: Good luck with the project, I wouldn't mind sending in artwork etc. Running something like that will take a lot of time and effort to get it going, I hope it works out for you. Make sure your host can stop people from remote linking to your images etc, as that will suck up a LOT of bandwidth if you don't.

I like the idea graphics-wise. it's simple and bold. I like viruses, infections and patients, but I think prevention isn't quite working. if anything, it could say condoms, that'd be funny. prevention almost makes this look like a real red cross website.

just my thought. altogether it's cool.

The p2p angle is staying and so is the art. The information is the easiest section to code, I mean it's all text. That might just be merged with the patients section.

And I think I have a shot at topping devaintart, I'm not sure how yet, but their service sucks. In their almost 900,000,000 "devaintions" I'de say half of them are shit, people upload photos of themselves, their desktops, doodles. theres tons of awful material, it's become imageshack only better. Beyond that, how much of devaintart have you ever seen? You have to subscribe to their pay service to use the search function, so your stuck trying to browse thru page after page of thumbnails of different catagories.

Devaintart is a victim to it's own success

My art site will be screened, this will be the hardest and biggest section to moderate. But it's easy to find people who have a good taste in art, so I can have a little team of screeners. It's going to be only top class art, this process will cut down on the amount of people submiting art and the amount of junk art on my server. Which will cut down on bandwidth and space.

I don't know where to start on the p2p angle, I really don't know how to procede. It's not rocket science, I just have to learn to code, which will take time. But it's a big project, and time is all I have.

What I do know is that it will start small.

I could write pages on all this, but I have to go.

I need coders, good coders, amateur coders, anybody will ne an improvement. I have one offer from Grae and one from another guy named Grogs who isn't on this sitwe, he has hosting too which he doesen;t use. And Minuet will help but she doesen't know alot about webdesign, not that she couldn't learn but thats up to her, regardless she will be an excellent art mod. Considering this is the second day I've had this idea it's not a bad start.

As of right now I'm still figuring out the layouts and coding, who's coding, who is hosting. it's gonna be a while.

By this wekend I can have a preview page up that describes everything Pandemic.org will be about. Then people can promote that.

If you want stuff flashed, I can give it a shot. My method is make shit in photoshop, sedn it to flash, and use flash to animate it.

I can do photoshop,y ou know this, or should. I could do graphics but you might want to do those yourself.

I can do layouts, layouts via tables, and PHP, though I'v eonly experimented with query strings. I could learn more PHP.

CSS, I know not a lot about, but I would be willing to give that a go too.

I cvan't really help withthe programming peer to peer business. So you're going to have torrents? does that mean you'll be hosting a tracker too? If so that's an awesome idea, but please, lets kick the leeches and keep the good people with good ratios.

I'm interested in the site and community part mostly, and I'll do whatever you ask of me. If i can't do it I'll tell you, but if theres a chance I can give it a shot I'll do my best.

I was very active with them like way back in 1991 before the Internet was cool, like back in the old days of NCSA Mosaic and gopher, using anonymous ftp to upload/download shit and play with it. We'd just do fun shit like that Victorian parlor game "exquisite corpses" where one person draws the legs, another person draws the torso, and a third person draws the head, then you put it all together and see what you got. And all that with ftp and xpaint and other primitive tools like that. I've been away for awhile, and now the site is totally transformed.
