GTA San Andreas
can't wait for this to come out. heres some details:
[B]General[/B]
- The game is more serious than the others, but the elements of comedy are still there.
- A full staff of reasearch personnel at Rockstar have been studying Las Vegas, San Diego, and Los Angeles for months to ensure that they truly capture the feelings of these cities.
[B]Location[/B]
- The game will not take place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Las Vegas. It will take place IN ALL THREE as well as the countryside in between.
- Los Angeles will be called Los Santos, San Francisco will be called San Fieero, and Las Vegas will be called Las Venturra.
- Each city is about the same size as Vice City.
- Not all cities will be open at the start of the game.
- The entire game will be about four to six times as large as Vice City.
- San Fierro (San Francisco) will have hills. This city is more driving based.
- You can drive from LA, through the countryside, up a mountain, into San Fran, and onto Las Vegas.
- Driving through the desert won’t be empty and plain with a couple cacti...it will be vibrant and alive with weird things to see.
- There will be a lot more buildings with open interiors.
[B]Graphics[/B]
- The graphics engine has been tweaked. Smog will be present in LA, and real-time reflections on cars, windows, and mirrors, as well as new techniques like radial lighting, which allows for more realistic shadowing, and soft-shadow lighting for interior levels will be present.
- Everything in the game now has independent models for day and night to give better lighting and shadowing.
- The game will have ragdoll physics, or “impact animation” in Rockstar’s words.
[B]Vehicles[/B]
- As for vehicles, there will be pimped-out lowriders, and 90’s versions of some GTA3/VC cars will return.
- There will be bicycles.
[B]Story[/B]
- Characters from the past will return.
[B]Gameplay[/B]
- In the Las Vegas city, you will be able to buy and build a casino - and then run it.
- You can then gamble your money in the casino.
- Your character can wield duel pistols and potentially other weapons.
- You need to eat to retain your stamina. If you eat too much fast food, you become fat and pedestrians mock you for being fat. You also run slower. To remedy this, you can go to a gym to exercise.
- You can now rob homes. The robberies will require skill and planning, however.
- You can recruit gang members and use them to do four person drive-by’s.
[B]Weapons[/B]
- The choice of weapons will match the time in which the era of the early 90's.
[B]Artificial Intelligence [/B]
- Enemy/pedestrian AI will be greatly revamped and they will think more logically. You can't beat someone to death in broad daylight and not have people notice and react.
- Your enemies will be smarter, which will make robbing houses take a lot of skill.
[B]Music[/B]
- There will be a rap station, but there will be a variety of other stations as always.

i've read that the new targeting system is like Manhunt. I also read that they improved hand to hand combat, like there are different stances and what not. there are also more mini-games, they have the usual cop, ambulence, fire fighter, pizza dilivery missions, but you can gamble now.

more big news--there is a HUGE mountain that you can drive up, and they say it is truly huge, about 5 miles high, with wildlife, mobile homes, all sorts of stuff up there.
plus, there is semi-organized ATV racing in the desert!
not only that, but a fully operational farm in the countryside complete with one of those huge crazy farm-truck things that harvest crops.
and also, the trucks finally feature what hasn't been included since GTA2--trailers than can be dropped behind!
i can't fucking wait. its just going to occupy so much of my time, its gonna be pretty fucking awesome.
Jeeziz, this game sounds too good to be true. Can it all fit into a PS2 disc? Perhaps better with an Xbox disc . . . .hmmm?

- Carl can attack enemies from behind after hiding and sneaking through the shadows.
- Carl's ability to swim, and the length of time he can stay underwater, depends on his fitness and how often he practices swimming.
- Members of The Orange Grove Families wear green clothes.
- Members of the Ballas gang wear purple clothes.
- Bicycles will move forward when the X button is held down, but tapping it will make the player travel faster.
- Carl can roll to the side during combat on the press of a button.
- Players can now pivot the camera around the car, in order to gain a better view.
- Not only can players choose new hairstyles, but choices of beards and other facial hair will be at their disposal.

* Each city will have it's own airport, with an accessible Dodo
* It's possible to pickup hitchhikers
* CJ can operate tow trucks
* You can adjust the camera angle using the right analog stick
* A myriad of different outfits are at your disposal
* The change between city and countryside is gradual.
* The air in Los Santos has a bright, gritty feel, and occasional bursts of rain; San Fierro is foggy; Las Venturas has clear air and harsh lights; the countryside has a warmer, more natural vibe to it.
* The game has an improved use of partical effects. Exhaust smoke, tyres kicking up dirt, clouds of smoke when you stand on the brakes, and sparks flying from bullets.
* Carjacking animations have improved. Rather than pulling the driver out of the vehicle, CJ opens the door, wacks him in the face, and throws him onto the road.
* Country music is confirmed and will probably be picked up through radio stations in the countryside and small suburban towns
* Kendall is angry with CJ because he wasn't around to help the family.
* The number of recorded stats has increased. There will be a stat for just about everything you do; driving motorcycles, driving cars, swimming, running, sprinting and so on.
* Pedestrians call obese Carl a 'fat ba*tard'. Even your own gang members say "dude, you need to lose some weight".
* The pedestrian AI has improved greatly. You may see two pedestrians walking down a street, holding hands. If you break them apart, they'll react, and hold hands again.
* Each pedestrian lives a different life. You can literally 'stalk' a pedestrian, watch he/she get out of their house, goto a shop, meet up with a girl, and go home again (for example).
* Mt. Chilliad casts a massive shadow. All shadows are drawn by radiosity lighting, which covers the entire map.

# In response to this, CJ has a variety of ways to pursuade drivers into surrendering their vehicle. The most interesting method so far? Smashing the guy's head off of the dashboard. It seems to work quite well.
# Missions will be more open-ended then in Vice or GTA3, blurring the lines between when you're on a mission and when you're not.
# Stats have a whole lot more meaning now. The more you shoot, the more accurate you become. The more you find yourself behind the wheel of a car, the more skilled you become at driving, and so on.
# In addition to building up strength at the gym, you can also learn new fighting techniques (think True Crime). Depending on where you are in SA, the fighting techniques you learn will vary.
# Speaking of fighting, you can now lock onto opponents during hand-to-hand combat. This makes it much easier to bust up a few faces and break a few jawbones... not that we approve of that sort of behaviour, of course. CJ can now block attacks in melee combat, as well.
# The Police chopper searchlight now serves a much more important purpose. When shining down on you, you'll find that the searchlight impaires your ability to see clearly, making it harder to drive and shoot.
# San Andreas will include tons of licensed music, similar to Vice City. You can expect more of it, too, since there are quite a few radio stations available throughout SA.
