Really interested in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Still not sure about L.A. Noire. I've heard that beyond the cases there really isn't much else to do in the game world, that it's just driving around from mission to mission.

Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3, Portal 2, Skyward Sword

Shadows of the Damned - Akira Yamaoka (did the Silent Hill soundtracks) is doing the music for it, which is really cool

Common thread in all these games: All FPS's with high levels of customization and re-playability, my main criteria for picking out a game.

Also looking forward to Bioshock: Infinite, and this XBLA game called Breach coming out in January, and the new Silent Hill.

It's an add-on Nate, not an entirely new game.

I know it hasn't been announced but I want Gear Box to stop dicking around and hurry up with that Borderlands sequel.

Hopefully they'll get to it after they're through with all this Duke Nukem nonsense.

Now that I actually have a new system, I realize 60 bucks is too much to pay for a videogame. I'm sticking with the early games that are like 20-40 bucks.

I'm considering Gamefly, but it doesn't seem like that good of a deal. 16 bucks a month for 1 game at a time. Like Netflix. For games. Don't know if it's worth it because games take longer to do than movies.

what's your system? go on amazon, they have good deals (MK9 is 40$ now, usually 60$ for example).

they also have amazon warehouse deals on used games that are good quality. those also qualify for free shipping.

PS3

MK9 looks great (I can't emphasize that enough) and I enjoyed MK vs DC (what little I played) but I'm not familiar with the storyline of the series. Is there a lot to unlock?

I grew up with Street Fighter 2, but I don't know if the online community for Street Fighter 4 is any good anymore.
I was gonna get Marvel vs Capcom 3, but to be honest, outside of the fighting, the game looks rather shallow. Plus, 59.99. Meh.

If I do get SF4, I'll wait for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. (Tweaked mechanics and 2 more characters than Super Street Fighter 4.

from what i heard, it's a solid game. here's a review from a guy that i think is legit. he pointed out flaws in the MvC3 game that are spot-on so yeah.

you don't need to know the history but it helps. this game basically does a recap of MK1 to MK3 in an alternate reality.

excuse the theatrics and watch his review of MvC3 too.

there really isn't a good storyline for MvC3 but it's damn good fun. if i were you, i'd wait until the price drops to $40 or something before you get it.

there's a ton of vids on youtube with streaming tournaments for both SF4 and MvC3. they're starting with MK9 too now. check out the 'levelupseries' channel on youtube or even 'cross counter'. they review fights and commentate.

yeah, playing Oni would be sweet but to be honest, the attention is focusing more on MvC3 and MK9 now. SF is gonna stay but it's not the darling of the gamers right now.

Sign up here http://www.goozex.com/referral.asp?idr=6189380569157 and trade games that you have played. It's what I do, you basically only pay shipping once you get a few trades sent.

MK9 is awesome. It is the new standard for fighting games, in my opinion. At least in terms of single player content. It actually has a really awesome story mode. It's not just ladder mode with a few cutscenes.

Ok, MvC3 it isn't then! I'll wait til Capcom gets its head out of its ass. They do have quite a reputation right now for being money whores. DLC etc..

It's decided I will order MK9 and a single player game I have not yet decided on.

yeah, but for 30, you can have three. and the cut rate pricing on "used" games that you get as soon as they release (so, they're used in the sense that you used them) is awesome. when you're a member for a year, they give you ten percent off prices, the option to get four games, and two coupons for five bucks off games a year.

it saves me money. i get four games, and most months thats more than enough, so i dont have to buy, or send any back. but even so, say you rent four (36 bucks) to buy them all would be 240 retail. say, you send two back cause they suck (you save 120 bucks) you beat one (another sixty bucks) and you keep a really long one, like the new elder scrolls, at a cost of 45 (saving 15 off sticker price) that means you played 240 dollars worth of games, and your cost is just above buying one of them in shrink wrapping.

L.A NOIRE

Seriously, I haven't been this excited about a game since Red Dead, and prior to that it was a long time since I was excited about a game at all.

third one is much better. you may need to play the second one to know what's going on. the third picks up exactly on where the second stopped.

I still may pick it up down the road when it's in the bargain bin.

Just saw a trailer for the new Need For Speed game and they gave it a kind of Cannonball Run kind of feel to it. I'm wondering exactly how much of the 3,000 miles you do run though. What about a game that has you literally drive the full distance from, say, NY to LA? With all the GoogleEarth stuff they have nowadays and all the power these consoles have, seems like it'd be possible to do. Maybe have like a scavenger hunt aspect to it, where you have to hit certain cities and roadside attractions to gain points to go along with the best time. Just seems like it would be something great for an online thing.

Eh, not so much anymore. Been playing the beta and it's failed to impress me so far.

You know, it's always kind of awkward when I hype up a game here and then a couple weeks or months down the line post again about how crappy the game actually is. I mean it feels awkward to me.
