Ebay Help/Is there anything good on TV on Sunday Nights?
OK, I'm working on some ebay listings so I can go to Italy for 5 weeks without (hopefully) using my credit cards.
So my question is a serious one: Are there any shows, cable, or otherwise that people are addicted to on Sunday nights? The reason I ask is, I want to end my auctions at a time that works for people in different time zones.
I posted an auction for a signed FC that is going nowhere and I got one ebay member emailing me that he bids in the last 15 minutes of an auction and that I effectively cut him out because my auction ends around 1:30 AM his time. (He was very snotty, but it really is a valuable bit of advice.)
So, I am thinking ending my next auctions around 7:00 PM my time (Pacific) , which is still reasonable for east coast bidders.
So what is a good TV night to end my auctions if not a Sunday?
Sorry, I can't help you, I don't watch normal TV :(
That's OK, I'm sure someone around here does. Sunday nights seem safe now that The Sopranos are over, but you never know.
i think people (women and gays) are addicted to desperate housewives on sun, oh and the show after w/sally field.
Oh, good one, thanks! I don't know the Sally Field one, but DH is huge. Maybe Monday night is a better call.
I watch Smallville on Sundays im in Canada if that helps any
Edit: It is on at 8:30 or 9:00

It does help, because I forgot all about Canadian time zones!
Dammit, what about Monday night Football? I'm looking on ESPN..MON, OCT 1 New England at Cincinnati ,. Is that a big game?
Tuesdays, Mirka. No one ever watches anything of importance on Tuesdays.

Sounds good. Wednesday is TOP CHEF.
Italy 5 weeks!

Treviso! Actually a tiny town in the Treviso region, one hour from Venice. I'll send you a post card.

What a dick. Screw him. You did not "cut him out" of anything.
He's just too cheap to honestly post his maximum bid and wait.
As for a good ending time for an auction, the weekend evenings aren't necesarily best...
word has it a ton of people ebay from their work cubes.
edit: that 'tactic' of last minute bidding is lame.

I used to end my auctions on Monday night - I never could figure out if there was good tv on then.
And as for that guy emailing you about your end time, McMuddle is right - he's just a dick and didn't want to have to either stay up late or bid a higher proxy bid to get it. People like him are why I get fed up with doing ebay.
Anyway, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings never did well for me on the auctions but Monday seemed better. I have no idea what is on tv though.
Good coffee is like drinking Rock and Roll.
I think the 'jits that try to bid-snipe are funny.
It's got to be like a gambling addiction, to get some king of high out of outbidding someone at the last minute.
I wonder how much time and energy that takes.
My time is more valuable to me than that.
I enter the highest amount I would pay for an item and wait for the email saying it's time to pay, and how much.
I get a little buzz seeing how much less I actually paid than I was willing to.
edit: Oh, and on topic, I just combed through my last few pages of 'wins' and the end times are all over the board, because of how I bid.

Has Desperate Housewives started?!?!?!? Eeeeeeee. Hmm?
Meerk..
I would say, dont try to compete with DH sunday night or Heroes monday night. i generally end my auctions a week after i put them up, sunday between two and four..
this is a great idea to mull ober.. ive truly forgotten about so many auction bids for items because i was into a show, like last year the dresden files saved jen and i a lot of money. heroes before that. the same way she sits in front of the tv from an hour prior to DH and nothing in the world matters as much, same with e entertainment. nothing, not that jacket or the clever lamp. just the shows. i would check my items im watching page right before bed and be pissed off that i didnt get that rant arc or something like similar. completely forgot about it, that sort of thing.
as a seller, i prefer sunday because most people are off of work on sundays. however, it would probably be wise to consider that perhaps a great many ebayers buy on their computers at work, where theyre sitting for hours throughout each day. but i choose sunday, well after noon mass or protestant morning worship. and before simpsons by a good hour.
good luck

Bidding at the last minute you get in there, make your bid, wait a couple of minutes, pay and then wait for your item to arrive. Where's the time-wasting in that?

They locate the item, put it on their 'watch list' list, monitor the auction, count how many views there have been, sign up for bid-sniper sites and get into multiple bid battles in the last few minutes, and if the seller doesn't end the auction at a convenient time for their games, they send nasty grams.
Screw that.

Yeah, he was kind of a snot, but he did make me feel kind of stupid for not taking times into consideration.
I finally went with a weekend end time, early aftertnoon. That's more because of when I had time to put up listings. I didn't want them to end on a Friday night. I'll be figuring this out over the next couple of weeks as I list more.

I thought Monday would be best, but I can't figure out Monday night Football!
I got really fed up with ebay for a while, too. But mostly because of Paypal issues.

Hey, that's almost exactly what I did. Sunday afternoon. Before the Simpsons. I love it.

I snipe to avoid shill bidding, so I understand why people wait till the last moment. As a seller, it drives me crazy that people bid last minute. As a buyer, I feel more protected waiting.
simsond season premier tonight.

I once had a guy snipe my highest bid in the last four seconds.
He emailed me to rub it in that he had 'won'.
I replied with the paypal payment confirmation for the identical item
for 1/2 what he paid. Silly kids.
Good luck with the auctions.
I considered shilling for you, but that would be wrong.

See, the email to gloat is ridiculous. Those kind of people are the gambler/addicts you're talking about.
Good for you, I'm glad you put him in his place.
I'm glad you decided to do the right thing.

Sorry, I can't help you, I don't watch normal TV
This is a really good idea.
