couldnt think of anywhere else to rant about windows dvd maker
this program, in short, completely sucks. i'm making a small 1.5gb dvd of brazzers videos for a friend. i've been waiting an hour and its only 20%.
i don't understand what the problem is when all my hardware matches the 16X dvd i'm using.
i figured someone here might know what i'm talking about.

the 1.5GB of Brazzers videos have to be re-encoded so a DVD player can read them. This is a slow process regardless of the software you use, made even slower (or faster) by the performance of your computer.
Yeah, the new windows vista DVD recording thing sucks, I tried to put some TV shows onto a data disc for my sister and it was a complete nightmare. The DVD maker only does video DVDs, so the kind that you can play in a DVD player, and like Kirk said that takes forever. I think if you go into Windows Media Centre you can write them as data DVDs (which is much quicker), but you have to make sure that all the files are in the My Videos folder because for some reason you don't seem to be able to browse your computer to find the files you want to write, it's retarded.

You're using it wrong.
If you want to make a disc that can be played on a DVD player, you use the Windows DVD Maker. Which will properly build the DVD for playback in standard players.
If you simply want to burn various files to a DVD for storage purposes all you do is put in a blank disc. You then open a window for your DVD-R drive and drag files into it. Once you have filled it up, you click the "Burn to disc" button. Basically the same way you would copy files to a flash drive.
