Call of Duty: Black Ops
Anybody else excited about this? or did Modern Warfare 2 make you swear off all Call of Duty games forever?
I'm looking forward to it because it seems that Treyarch is doing it's best to fix a lot of the things that made MW2 suck and improve on the handful of things that made it good as well as adding a shit load of new features, most of which you can read about here.

they oughta make one of these, only set in the Revolutionary or Civil Wars.
it would be kinda lame taking 3 minutes just to load one bullet into your musket but they could have something like if you beat it then you get all your modern weapons to go through the game again. Mowing down a line of Redcoats with a gatling gun would be pretty fuckin' awesome!
Or how about the War of 1812? It's 200th Anniversary's coming up.
I'd like to see an Indian throwing hand grenades into Fort Detroit or Fort Malden. Or give them flame-throwers!! "No one can cross the river sir. The Indian's keep blowing up our Frigates with a goddamn rocket launcher!!"

They already had something like that called Darkest of Days where you traveled through time. Sometimes you'd use era-specific weapons, sometimes you wouldn't. I think there was a level set on Pompeii as the volcano was erupting where you could use an sub-machine gun. There was also this system where you couldn't kill certain people because they'd eventually become an important part of history or something like that.
Cool premise. Too bad the game itself was godawful.

man that would suck! They're not even at war with anyone. They got enough problems with the volcano blowing up and then all of a sudden someone shows up and starts shooting them all! Talk about having a bad day!
What I'm most excited about:

Awesome commercial is awesome.

I FINALLY played it today. Whooo BOY do I suck. I'm not as bad as my friend, but damn! SO many resources to keep in mind that I haven't been able to keep track of, so everyone else winds up one-upping me. I feel like a boxer thrown into an MMA fight. I'm just too used to Halo combat.

Overly-complex game mechanics can totally ruin an otherwise great game for me, which is a big part of why I haven't played a lot of the really popular combat games.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.

Remember Goldeneye? You had your shitload of guns, 3 different kinds of mines, and some other goodies I can't remember. It was still less complicated than this game. But I didn't play Modern Warfare 2, or any other COD game, so that could explain why I have terrible response time with each kind of attack.

My cousin borrowed this and brought it over my house. I couldn't get past the first level and gave up after 5 tries. I'm old.

I played the multiplayer mode of this at a friend's place last week on a PS3. I'm too used to x-box controllers, I kept wanting to pull a trigger button. But yeah, the gun switching and some of that stuff seems needlessly complicated. The maps are fun though.
I'm not crazy about the maps. They're well-designed, but boring.

that nuclear town one or whatever it's called was the worst. it's so small
That's actually my favorite one. I like small maps.

Keep in mind that that crane is moving.

It's going to be $15 just like the MW2 maps but I don't care. The maps look interesting.

When that hits PS3, I'll be getting it immediately. Those maps look great. Especially Stadium and Kowloon.
i heard a rumor that the ps3 servers may be shut down because everyone bitches about them, and activision cant make them better

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”

Fuck. I've also found out that this DLC is Xbox-exclusive so far, with no word of when it will be released on PS3. Fuck this. I need to get an Xbox. There's a few games I think I want to play on it that are exclusive anyway, and, from what I hear, COD is better on 360 anyway. It's mostly a money thing. Guess I could trade in my PS3.
I wouldn't trade in your PS3. A lot of people are saying the PS3 will outlast the Xbox.
Plus you can get 360's relatively cheap. Try Ebay.

i dont know dude. they might outlast on the sheer power of the hardware, but my brother has one, and while some of the exclusives (namely killzone) tempt me, the xbox is a faster, more streamlined console, with more games, and better updated network. not to mention all the first on xbox deals they have. we're getting maps first for CoD for the next three years, i think

And then there's Alan Wake, which I've been keen to play since forever.
I've been wanting to get a 360 for a while for that, and COD. I guess I could just get one of the cheapest ones. One with a small HD. I don't know too much about them though. What would be a good option for someone that generally uses their PS3 mostly, but would have the 360 for a few games here and there?
You can always get a cheap one with a small amount of storage and use USB thumb drives to save your games onto.

I am excited for this, but I haven't played MW2 in about two months, so I hope I'm not too rusty. Watching some of the trailers it kind of reminds me more of CS which should be nice.
