(Too) In depth analysis
I had a lit professor watch Fight Club because they had not seen it before. After she watched it, she said she did some searches online for analysis and she said that she came to find that Marla represents femininity and Tyler masculinity.
Now I disagree. The only thing girly or feminine thing about Marla is that she has a vagina. I mean, she's not your stertypical blonde barbie doll, and she certainly isn't a motherly character in any sort of way, so I don't see how she can be seen as representing all of womanhood.
Tyler as a symbol for man, I can see, but not clearly. I mean, he's not GI fucking Joe, but he still represents stregnth and unity.
Any opinions?
The narrator definitely represents femininity more than Marla.
I disagree there, I think, although it doesn't show it near the start, Marla is very feminine, as the stroy goes on you get to see deeper sides of her, while she isn't a sterotypical women, I can see the connection there... and Tyler... well of course!

I kinda agree with this...
At least in the start of the movie, when we first meet him.
Marla is not femine in any way other than that she is a girl.
Tyler is supposed to represent the Alfa male, the man you want to be like.

I would say Tyler's representing masculinity.
But i agree to you that marlas definitly not a woman.
Maybe it would have been to much man if marla would have been a man.
but what does she stands for? no helpful idea.
