Memento and Fight Club
I finally saw Memento on Saturday (March 1st) and I noticed something pretty weird. I think it's just a coincidence, but maybe you guys know something more to it.
Well,
The phone number Guy Pearce has as one of his notes has the number 555-0134 and that number seemed familiar to me. Then I saw Fight Club again on Sunday, and when "Jack's" condo blows up, and he is walking past the flaming rubble, he sees Marla's number and it is 555-0134.
Coincidence or not?
Or maybe is it the pesticide fumes from my next door neighbor?
But, I also noticed some more similarities, but I don't want to make myself look more as a fool, so i'll stop right here.
haha, cool, someone should call it.
i wish we had 555 over here
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
I wish we had 555 over here. It's just a prefix they use in movies, designated for the silver screen and TV land.

I wanna know more of the similarities you seen.

Ill check it out too. I have wanted to see Memento again. And that 555 is interesting. Something I never new.
The only movie phone number I remember seeing that didn't have a 555 prefix was in Requiem for a Dream. The "ass-to-ass" man's number began with 934, which was great when I was watching it because that's the internal prefix for the dorms I live in. We called the number up and confused the hell out of some kid who was already wasted from a night of (assumably) alcohol consumption.
The first 555 I remember was off of Ghostbusters, and yeah, I tried calling it. What can I say; I was seven.

And then there is always that song 867-530Niiieeeeinnnne. I read some where that ppl that acctually had that phone number got really pissed off b/c random people kept calling it up. Some might have even sued(?).

555 prefixes are actually used somewhere, but a certain block is reserved for only TV/movie use. I recall hearing something about the numbers on the Fight Club SE commentaries; don't recall which one, but likely is one of the 2 with Fincher.
I remember watching one of those celebrity "Who Wants to be a
Millionare"s (yes, i know) and the question was what is the prefix
on all the hollywood phone numbers in the movies. No one knew.
But then Norm McDonald , from the audience, says "It's 555, cuz
everytime I'd see one in a movie I'd always try to call it."

strapped down and made to see
I read the subject line of this thread too quickly, and I was all like, "What the fuck does Nintendo have to do with Fight Club?"
Then I read more carefully. It's smart to read carefully!
"Super Will Tupper Bros." would be a good name for a video game, I think. But who would be my brother? Certainly not my real brother. He is cool, but he is also a math nerd who works for NASA and looks EXACTLY like Woody Guthrie.
Love!
hahhahhah fight club has EVERYTHING to do with nintendo
strapped down and made to see
memento and fight club are probably 2 of the movies that have changed my life. to view the world and the arts in a totally different way. not to look at things spoon-fed from others.

I think the phone number is too coincidental to be a coincidence, as in the proof:
(coincidence)2/(probability * -1) = holy shit
So what are the other similarities?
bite me
if you listened to the commentary on fight club they picked those names on purpose, like they wanted early deniro character's names
Yeah. Except Cornilius, or Rupert. On of those was just because they needed a name.

I'm still waiting for these other similarities, my brother Mario. You're killin' me here.
