But the truely great thing here is that Blockbuster Video - a corporation owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints (Mormons) - censored Fight Club. That rocks!!!
blockbuster is owned by a cult?!
Hahahahha. Yes. Good one.
that probably explains why they won't let me open a franchise.
wait, blockbuster is owned by mormons? no way. please prove that.

Wow. This little thread got CRAZY. People telling me to abuse my girlfriend, people showing an alarming lack of respect for women as a whole, people questioning my masculinity in some kind of bizarre machoistic pissing-contest. Hell, I even got called stuffy.
...
Don't know how I could prove that. It is, so far as I know, a publicly held corporation. Who owns the majority of stock should be a matter of record. Look it up. It actually might not still be owned by them (they (Blockbuster) did file for bankruptcy protection some years back after opening a location an damnear every corner.) So, yeah, that could have changed by now.
there's just no way, in my mind, that that could happen--virtually every movie blockbuster carries offends the mormon faith and lifestyle in some way--it would be like a hindu franchising a macdonald's or an arby's.

Man, that must be why they wouldn't hire me. Cuz I'm a heathen and all. A Jewish heathen.
Mother Superior: "Would sir care for a starter? Some garlic bread perhaps?"
Renton: "No, thank you. I'll proceed directly to the intravenous injection of hard drugs, please."
There's just never enough room for all the quotes that seem necessary.
my blockbuster video didnt censor anything, that's weird.

Surprisingly, the mormons are willing to bend the rules a bit for money. They own quite a bit of stuff that you would think they would be against. Just another reason: the tallest building in Salt Lake City is (drum roll) THE CHURCH OFFICE BUILDING. Yay!
Don't they (or didn't they at one time) own controlling shares in Pepsi?
Funny, I was going to mention that they own controlling shares in Pepsi and a bit in Coke...
and the prophet has stated that cola drinks harm the body and should not be consumed. Hahahaha. Asses.

Remember proto's post in the Emperor thread about waitering for Mormons? And their huge "secret" tipping?
Haha good stuff.

Haha good stuff.
Missed that one. Link? (i.e., can you look for it for me? What page, etc.?) TIA
As unofficial archivist of the Emperor Thread, it is my duty to inform you that said story is located on page 80 of the thread. Sir.

Thank you.
For the record, my family is as mormon as they come (Read: my grandpa is a stake president and a former mission president, and I have 3 bishops in my family.) And I have never heard of not being able to tip. You can't buy anything on a Sunday, and that would include tipping, but I have never heard of this no tipping rule. I don't think it is a mormon thing.
Very interesting.
