Loved this, my next chuck book is...
OK so I just finished Choke and loved it. The style was great and it was just insane. I loved how out there and incredible this book is. I have now read Haunted, Survivor, Rant, and Choke in that order (read em all during the summer, I spent much of late nights reading rather than stupidly wasting my time watching tv or surfing the web, it felt great doing something). And after reading the last 3 I have to say I now dont like haunted. Im glad i liked it when i read it or I may have never continued reading. Out of the last 3 I dont know which I like the most but I would maybe have to go with Rant, the twist is insane thats all. Im looking into getting another chuck book.
I was thinking Lullaby or Invisible monsters since they sound like the best left. WHat should i go with? Also I really like Dermaphoria by Craig Clevenger which I dont remember who suggested it but it was from one of these forums, maybe the survivor board Im not sure but thank you. So if theres any other books by other writers that somewhat resemble chucks style and/or messages in his books i would gladly consider any of those. So with that please get back to me. I appreciate it
I think everybody's next Chuck book should be Yeager!
Check out Will Christopher Baer while you are at it, the first in the series is Kiss Me Judas.
Wow is your name really Durden, how appropriate?
Invisible Monsters was horrible but everyone loves it...

Hey thanks for the suggestion, I looked into Baer last night and it looked really cool. I'll pick one up. I hear a lot of Ballard mainly concerning the similarities in rant, anyone have thoughts on him?
My name isnt really durden, I just wanted to name my account after a character, and I didnt want to be tender from survivor or anyone from haunted, and I hadnt read rant but I would have been Shot Dunyan since he was a cool character.
really invisible monsters was bad? I heard from somebody it was one of chucks best...
I personally didn't care for it, but yes it is one of the top 3 most popular for the list of best Chuck books.
I LOVE BAER's WORK.
PS: Everyone here hates n00b users who name themselves after characters from Chuck's books. There was even a topic here saying that they should all leave. You've only posted 3 times so far so if I were you, I'd change your name to something less Chuckish and get yourself a cool avatar.
I don't think it's so much that people hate them, it's just that when you see someone with a name like that, they never stick around for very long. regardless of if someone makes fun of their name or not.
You likey to read?
Kurt Vonnegut. Maybe read Slaughterhouse Five, first. If not, any book you feel like reading first.
Looks like Spunck's life is dull and pointless.
Invisible Monsters, I really like it, every time I read it. Save Snuff for a time when you don't want to contemplate a whole lot of anything...
Choke was different than I thought it would be. It was good, but.. yeah, haha. Not what I expected.
dude! , please read invisible monsters, and yes haunted is probably chuck's worst although still good. lullaby is great, and survivor.
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
I liked choke the best i think. Survivor was really good too.
I didn't like invisible monsters but i think its just because i couldnt get behind the female lead... lol... i like to envision myself as the main character and thats a little hard.
"I have opinions of my own --strong opinions-- but I don't always agree with them."
I didn't like Invisible Monsters either.
And Haunted can be darn good...if you ignore the story and just read the short stories.
i am in the middle of choke so far i love it.. i hear the movie is awful though..
Rant is great and so is Survivor.

Invisible Monsters drags like hell, compared to his other early stuff, but it's not bad. Just not as exciting. Which, with Chuck, is a big blow.
And yeah, you should read Will Christopher Baer.
Right back atcha, big guy.
idk Invisible Monsters is worth reading i think..
i enjoyed it mostly

Invisible Monster IS his earliest. It just didn't get published until after Fight Club.
ok morey, read lullaby, it's fantastic!,
i'm just sain' i let my gay buddy borrow, invisible monsters and he can't stop raving about it and he's lendin' it to his friends now.
you wacky gays with your man-lovin.
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
i just got lullaby today i'm happy to hear its good..
but honestly i don't think i'm going to dislike any of chuck's writing

I too just finished Choke and highly enjoyed it although I still like Invisible Monsters more. I don't really know that calling any book, "horrible," is fair; it's all about how you associate with it. I think my next is Lullaby until my friend decides to finish Survivor ):
I never want to contemplate a whole lot of anything. For some reason I always contemplate a whole lot of everything. This life is not for me...
If it weren't for physics there would be no stopping me.

Invisible Monsters, then Contortionist's Handbook by Clevenger. Lullaby was decent, Diary was my least favorite
