talking points for book club - help me, please!
it was my turn to pick. i was very sick of the chick lit that had been brought in the months' previously. thought i'd shake it up a bit with my favourite palahniuk - invisible monsters. lo and behold, almost everyone loved it! we're meeting on friday to discuss, and i'd love some help from you guys on talking points. definitely want to bring in the whole 'if i can't be beautiful, i want to be invisible' thing but after that, i'm at a loss.
i'm looking for really smart stuff, which i am evidently incapable of coming up for myself. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks...wpjs.
you could talk about the power struggle; how the gun is power the way beauty is power the way such and such is power and on and on.
also, how about the way all the characters are trying to reinvent themsleves
also also, if you use any of these suggestions give us a plug, eh?

Discuss relationships. That's one of the main points in the work. How we relate to other people.
Another important point is the re-creation of oneself (think of Shannon, Brandy)
Vengeance,
Perception of ourselves and others,
Love,
etc,
etc,
etc.
There are lots of things to talk about. Just pick a random page and you'll find a plethora of things to discuss.
Invisible Monsters is a tough one, good luck with your book club thing.
