Check that out. This lady was misfigured after her pet chimp attached her.
When i saw the pictures, I immediatley thought of Invisble Monsters. She even wears a veil!
Jesus! She looks like she's got nothing but a huge nose for a face.
You say she was left misfigured after her pet chimp attached her? I don't even know what that means?

Sorry, i meant attacked. Im sure you could of figured it out. But yea, that picture was very disturbing.
I also think you mean 'disfigured'.
Poor woman.
Whoa. I just read my original post. It looks like i so had a George W. Bush moment!
Poor chimp!
welcome

would they wear a veil if they fucked their face off though?hmmmmm i wonder...
That chimp ATE a woman's face. No way did he tear it off with anything other than his teeth. And no way did he do it with a single bite. He locked onto her and kept going.
What looks like a giant nose is a big skin graft from her thigh patched across the bloody gaping hole where she had almost nothing left - no lips, no nose, and no cheeks left to speak of - instead, a public viewing of her sinus cavities and teeth showing when her mouth was closed and even a missing eyelid. The doctor later removed her eyes, as well, because of infection. She also lost nine fingers to those chimp teeth - just trying to stop the attack, no doubt. Defensive wounds.
I've heard that chimps can be aggressive, but I had no idea it could go that far.

I had a nightmare last night about a monkey in our backyard. There were a lot of people outside, trying to "catch" it, but yeah, that didn't work. I was hiding in the garage and at some point it saw me and came after me. Man, I was scared.
I bet it's this thread's fault! >=|

The general pattern of attack for chimps is: break/remove the jaw of the enemy, tear genitals off the enemy, attack face of enemy. They're horribly vicious, and really should never be kept as pets.
...but I still love monkeys and chimps.

Woah... just like King Kong with Godzilla! I can cheer for the primate when the enemy is a voracious fire-breathing radiation lizard.
...tear genitals off the enemy,
Just like that Lorena Bobbitt woman! Except she used a carving knife.
...attack face of enemy.
Did you see the model who's jilted ex-lover paid someone off the street to throw hydrochloric acid in her face? Insanely cruel. At first she thought the guy was panhandling her. Then she thought he threw his water or soda in her face and she started to feel insulted. Moments later, she felt like she was on fire and her skin seemed to be melting off, because it was. Hours of surgery, weeks and months of painful recovery. No way to reclaim the looks she built her career on.

I'm quite horrified by this story. Before reading it, if someone who handles them professionally had invited me to hold a baby chimp in a diaper, I would've done so. Now I would expect the baby to bite my face off. Or maybe its mother would come and get me.
I already knew that people who take them in as pets often find them completely unmanageable by adolescence. We have a primate rescue center here and I've attended a presentation. They rescue lots of chimps that are ex-pets or ex-circus performers.

I'm friends with an animal trainer, and he recently retired his chimps. I got to spend a lot of time with Cody, the youngest (although he was approaching 4 years old, when they start to get more independent). He was as gentle as can be and we had a lot of fun playing games together. He thought the most entertaining thing in the worlds was giving rubber boots to you, and then he'd insist you put them on. When you did, he would laugh and clap. There's nothing like a chimp laugh.
Having said that, we were hanging out with him once and he walked up and made this soft exhaling grunt, and the trainer said "Okay, move away...". It's a delicate balance. But even knowing them from birth pretty much, there's always that chance that they'll turn and get aggressive/violent.
Every time I see a story like this, I think about how easily I could have been killed. I also think about the time I was in a tree with Angel, one of the older chimps, and she groomed my hair and popped a zit I had on my forehead, and rubbed it like a mama.
It's funny that you mention the boots. I learned that at least one or two of the chimps here find articles of human clothing hilarious... or madly desirable. One of the mature females loves to walk about in lady's shoes. She also paints. Some of the males, you can toss them a cap and they'll put it on their own head without hesitation, but they seem to get more enjoyment out of convincing people to do things with clothing.

Yeah, I saw a story about her on TV last night, and she was wearing a veil. I thought of IM too.
