Invisible Monster soundtrack
If there were to be a movie made out of Invisible Monsters(IM) who should be on it and who should score it?
Give me your opinions, I personally think Billy Corgan or Marilyn Manson.
Naw, I see it with a lot of ABBA and Gloria Gaynor-type stuff.... Maybe Manson covering ABBA would work well (?)...
Oh, and I hope you die, too.
The Pixies "Broken Face" would be very suiting of a film adaptation. Also, "Open Face Surgery" by Cryptopsy
YOU FUCKED THE WORST, NOW FIGHT THE BEST!

Here are some songs that I "heard" inside my head while I was reading IM.
I imagine hearing theme song to Miami Vice when I was reading about Manus as this.. "undercover cop". Haha. I imagine him as this Don Johnson wannabe, that could be why.... oh and "I Ran (So Far Away)" by A Flock of Seagulls.
And... "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred - like all the characters have that attitude, like, I'm not that happy with my life but I still will make myself look like I'm so much better than you.
"Hot Child In The City" - I don't remember who sings it (I think it's some guy named.. I'd like to say Nick something or the other) - for this whole "model" life.
And that "Covergirl" song by RuPaul. Do I have to explain this one?
..... and "Hurt" - by Nine Inch Nails. In fact, most of the songs from Downward Spiral. NIN songs aren't really what I was "hearing" at the time while I was reading, but it's more like, whenever I'm trying to think of the whole plot, as to sum it all up,
that's when I realize that listening to NIN makes me feel just like how I felt after finishing reading IM and trying to step back and remembering what I've just finished read. .... like, I'm pretty sure what I just said didn't make much sense in words, but um, yeah.
Anything with Manic Street Preachers on it would do me
i would have a lot of music with a decidedly obvious dramatic flare, to over-accentuate the mood of the plot. instead of sticking a lot of rock/popular music, i would try to do the opposite by sticking in a lot of music from the opposite end of the spectrum, like children's songs, concert music.
not that i would buy that soundtrack, but i think it would fit the mood of the movie better.
Not a bad idea that
Yeah, when I said,"I hope you die!!!" I was talking to myself...Oh and I like the idea of Hurt by NIN. Covergirl by RuPaul...You are my god...And for the hell of it we should put in Conjunction Junction song from School House Rock..that would be snappy do dum.
LOU REED: walk on the wild side!!
THE VELVET UNDERGROUND: femme fatale, there she goes again
RADIOHEAD: fake plastic trees
AND A WHOLE LOTTA SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES!!
"a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down" haha that would actually work if u think about it, maybe when they go to that old ladies house and they shack up in the bathroom for a little while, suprise the audience with this song, i would laugh
311's "Creatures (For A While". Which should be in every movie.
Disturbed's cover of "Shout" by Tears For Fears, maybe something Courtney Love related...
I like the idea of Manson covering ABBA, too.. or one of those like-sounding bands (Orgy and Powerman 5000 come to mind as well.) I remember reading Stephen King's "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" and wanting the music in the trailer to be a Manson cover of "Hey There Little Red Riding Hood"

I want a satanistic drum machine beat...ahem(Dylan)....and then more childrens music....and then barbie girl by Aqua.
I think there should be lots of heavy metal that sounds like it would go into an action film, and they should fill the trailer with it, and try to convince everyone that it is an action movie.
Okay, Lou Reed's 'Take a Walk on the Wild Side' = Phucking Genius!!!
And maybe "Lola" by The Kinks. You can just stick that song in anywhere.
When she's stealing the turkey, maybe "I'm Afraid of Americans" by David Bowie.
when the guys are ass ramming each other: Manson's version of 'Tainted Love."
when they let the post cards go: any ambient noise created by Sigur Ros.
"I'm a Slut" by Howlin' Maggie can also be thrown in anywhere.
eh...maybe dashboard is too emo for invisible monsters...but then again, i've never head that particular song.
during the opening chapeter when the rifle is spinning and the house is burnuing, i picture that scene as the opening credits to the film and the would be no sound, just the creepy visuals of destruction while playing the song "My Funny Valentine" by Frank Sinatra. it fit soo well
just kill yourself
lets not forget "fame" or "changes" by david bowie.
just kill yourself
Radiohead - Just
Radiohead - fake plastic trees
Radiohead - Street Spirit(fade out)
the Gurge's Polyester Girl...nicely
Bush & Radiohead. Bush- Glycerine or Come Down or anything off their remix album. Radiohead... Lost Cause.
-Anesthetized
A Perfect Circle- Judith
Joan Osborn- One of Us
Pixies- Is She Weird
There's my two cents.

a lot of the good movies opt for only a score so that the soundtrack doesn't become outdated.
But as for who should do the score: Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko)
Id go for Michael Andrews
maybe some Michael Nyman

SO SHINEY!
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
lol yes she is...
In fact I noticed there's a song on Unit relevant to a few of the other Chuck books;
Fight Club-'Just another beutiful story', a song about all the crap in life that you get distracted by/'modern life', about how commercialism and wanting stuff sneaks into our daily priorities
Choke-'world of sleaze', the world sex addicts live in
those crazy Brisbanaires
yeah, shame they suck now
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
Well... i dont know if appropriate for IM, but Elliot Smith would rock in most Chuck books if they would become movies... (needle in the hay, etc...) Royal Tenenbaums used that and it is my favorite seen in a movie (next to jack's smirking revenge, and some donnie dark scenes... but w/e)... hehe
Only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love...
(I would have put a kewl palahniuk quote... but that would be weird)
I dont know i think Elliot Smith songs are to sad for Chuck books, his books have this certain quality that is sad but not elliot smith sad.
i second that Aqua: Barbie Girl vote! Definately. I see most of the music as disco and such. The kind of music that would be in the Adventures of Pricilla Queen of the Desert. Also, for the scenes were Shannon and Evie are in the department stores there should be a musak version of one of your radiohead ideas or Tainted Love. Hmmm, or something else. I dunno. Good question though.
"Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is"
-Peggy Lee
I think that for Invisible Monsters there should be a not totally dark quality of music but a music that evokes the color pink or something the Vivacious Vivienne ViVane can shake her can to...like David Bowies "Fashion"......turn to the left!
"Cherry Lips" by Garbage. That song is Brandy.

for the beginning titles-coma white by marilyn manson
i think the score should be composed by danny elfman (purely because of his 'freeway' score)
for the final confrontation-5 minutes alone by pantera
i think chris cunningham (of aphex twin fame) should direct.
but that's my opinion, peace out.
Dancing in a puddle with yo' shoes off...

Dust Brothers did a fine job with Fight Club and they could work for IM
Hey Aru! good to have you here....your from Italy? awesome!
I can actually see ladytron doing the soundtrack....'Playgirl' is a very IM song...I loved the Virgin Suicide soundtrack Air did such a fine job

I really dig that idea, actually. Unconventional music would rock....mixed in with some decent rock, eh? I just think an absolutely eclectic mix of every type of music would somehow fit. I mean it's not like anything in the book feels like it fits anywhere anyway. Oh, and there'd definitely have to be some classical somewhere. As if any of that would ever happen.
I'm thinking:
Caesar's Palace (AKA Caesars) - Sort it Out
Jimi Hendrix - Foxey Lady (for Brandy, right?)
BRMC - Red Eyes and Tears (for whomever suggested it earlier)
Christina Aguilera - Beautiful (hey, it's a good song...maybe play it ironically while she's driving to the hospital after shooting herself...that'd just be funny)
It's way too early to think of anything else.
Ooh, yes, "Cherry Lips" by Garbage. Didn't see that one. Brilliant!
i vote orignial soundtrack.... no previously recorded stuff, all made for the movie.
but whoever said "broken face"... i think that would work well.
Pixies - Broken Face (as said before)
Pixies - There Goes my Gun (Fitting)
Pixies - Here Comes Your Man (Fitting, in an ironic sense)
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Head Up High
The Eagles - After The Thrill Is Gone
The Eagles - Take It To The Limit
Thrusday - Understanding In A Car Crash (just for the fun title)
Floggin Molly - These Exiled Years
Rage Against The Machine - Maggies Farm (Cover)
Rage Agasint The Machine - Beautiful World ( Cover)
Sounds hot

"... got this store bought way of saying I'm ok..."
I'd only like to add either one of these two to the list of tracks possible for the movie.
Elysian Fields - Black Acres
Elysian Fields - Timing is Everything
Zero by Smashing Pumpkins at the ending when Shannon was going to light the whole place on fire and Brandy gets shot etc.
And whoever said "Cherry Lips" by Garbage is Brandy -- I agree.
And the part where they were "sending postcards to the future", I'd say.. "Information Travels Faster" by Death Cab For Cutie OR "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service.
And when Shannon shoots herself etc: "Look At Me" by John Lennon
lots of panic at the disco. seriously, their stuff sounds like its coming right out of one of chuck's novels. maybe their song 'nails for breakfast, tacks for snacks'. think about it cuz of the pills.... also maybe some mellow stuff, coldplay, u2, radiohead stuff like that.

Welcome.

i think it would sound a little something like this...

boys wanna be her-peaches
groove me-fern kinney
supernature-cerrone
girls-prodigy
heart of glass-blondie

just a girl-no doubt
seventeen-ladytron

Some people suggested "Hurt" by NIN
I think possibly Johnny Cash's cover of that song would be better?
Also "Beautiful Dirty Rich" by Lady Gaga I think could fit in when about Brandy or a Shannon/Evie scene.
Meds - Placebo
Pure Morning - Placebo
Head Like A Hole - NIN
Feeling Good - Muse (possibly)
Molly - Mindless Self Indulgence
Bad Things - Jace Everett (maybe, I think it'd make a good filler song)
Saturday Superhouse - Biffy Clyro
and in relation to Panic At The Disco, I think most would agree that it should be "Time To Dance" considering that is the song that is actually based on "Invisible Monsters"?
Jeffree Star's music would fit perfectly hahah
Placebo, Marilyn Manson covering classics such as ABBA, NIN, The Pixies, Radiohead and IAMX.
There's a song by Panic! At The Disco called "Time To Dance". It's written about Invisible Monsters.
"Boys will be boys, Hiding in estrogen and wearing Aubergine dreams....When I say 'Shotgun', you say 'Wedding'"

I hope you die!!!
