How I heard about Invisible Monsters ---- the most amazing book ever.
I recently bought "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" by Panic! at the Disco, and I heard the song "Time to Dance". And it struck me how odd the song sounded. So, I "Wiki"-ed it and it said it was based off of a book called Invisible Monsters. So, I figured since I liked the song, I'll like the book. And, I was right. It's the best book I think I've ever read. And, right now, as I type, I'm only about forty pages away from finishing Haunted. And, when I'm done with that, I'm going out and I'm going to buy Choke.
Chuck is an amazing writer and I've written a ton of short stories because he's inspired me so much. I can't wait for Invisible Monsters to be made into a movie.

That's exactly how I found Chuck, and I also had the same reaction from The Cult when I announced it.
It really is a good song, though...
Im so happy you read it. I loooove that song. I remember one day my friend and I sat and interpreted every lyric and disscussed how it pertained to the book.

well at least one good thing came from Panic at the Disco
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.

I know this is an older thread, but I had to pop in on how much I love Invisible Monsters: REMIX.
The book encompasses the nightmarish depravity of the original but also really DOES read like a magazine, physically and figuratively. I received it in the mail from Texas from a fellow Chuck fan because he knew how much I adored Invisible Monsters.
I have to admit, at the time I hadn't been doing too much reading of any kind. When I opened the book to smell it, (yes; smell it) this rose petal falls out into my lap. I was thinking in my head "Oh dear, is this guy sending me this to tell me something? *still flipping, a little confetti heart falls out* Oh no..."
Then I remembered that when I first read IM, I felt that it jumped around a lot, and people said it felt like a fashion magazine. I was ecstatic. Many people probably took all the frilly stuff out of the book either all at once, or as they came to a rose petal, a star, an icon, etc., when they read it. I left everything intact as I read it; I found it fun to suddenly have a rose petal fall out as the book became grimier and grimier in plot. I had no idea the plot would flow as it did.
Definitely my favorite Palahniuk book of all time, and it's been read about 8 times. I want to see it done as a movie, but then I also do NOT want it done as a movie. I mean I guess it wouldn't hurt my opinion of it, but great books are RARELY done as you see them done in your head while reading. The book haunted me for weeks; I was obsessed. I started coming out of my room in my old house to find my mother so I could read her excerpts from it. Looking at her after I'd read a few pages- she couldn't have been more shocked. A shocker is always the ultimate in reading. I must have said "WHAT... the F*CK." 30 or so times as I read this gem.
To sum it up, no fan of Chuck should pass this one up. And one who is not YET a fan of Chuck, will be once they read the last page.
Dude I love your playfully sardonic personality. I always get a chuckle from Tuffy. HAHA

Oh and Tom! Do you have anything you've written that you could share?? One of your short stories??
Kit gets no love. Poor Kit.

Negative points for you, mister.
It's OK, I never really do get any positive ones.
Points for you!
Really?
Jerk. Even more negative points for you.
HAHA I'm only kidding! I'm pretty sure you know that by now. I hope you do.
What's your next favorite Disney? I'm obsessed. My favorite villainess is Cruella... or Ursula. Prolly Ursula!!
Ooops. Going off thread topic. I do that a lot. I do that when talking to people too. "Dude... what? You were just talking about oranges. How did you get onto the guinea pig you owned when you were 10??"
I like when Ursula shakes her boobies.
Cruella DeVil is a good Disney vilian.
Vilain.
Villain?
Fuck. Never can remember that one.
The Mermaid wasn't part of my childhood, so Ursula didn't have the same impact. Pretty sure I've only seen it once.
What was the name of the crazy bad woman in The Rescuers? I remember her as being fabulously bad, but she never makes the lists of great bad guys.
My favorite is probably Hook.

Oh I loved her too dude!! I'll find out. She was wicked and skanky. Reminded me of Ms Hannigan from Annie.
And yeah "villain". Only because Google Chrome spellchecks for me. I think. Villian... no it doesn't spellcheck. Hook was a GREAT baddie!
Madame Medusa!
Loved her as well.
and Mr. Snoops?
Hi everyone. This is my first time to post in the forum and I'm glad to be a member of this community. I love to read mystery books and novels since when I was young and it has been my favorite past time activity. I've read this "Invisible Monsters" and its pretty amazing. I get entertained every time I read this book.
What's you best ?
