Survivor (Vintage UK Edition): Question regarding errors in my copy.
My copy of Survivor seems to have lots of incomplete sentences in them. I was wondering are these misprints or possible deliberation by Chuck. I got a replacement but it is the same as before.
Example: Chapter 9, Page 44: ''I remember the winters were peaceful and''
It just ends the chapter like that and moves on to the next chapter. There are plenty of these in the book. It just seems odd.
I came here today because I started reading the book last night and i have the same copy and same problem. I assume it's not supposed to be like that then.
I bought 4 books and this is the 3rd one I'm reading so I don't think I can return because it's been a fair while.
I'll just get me a new one.
fucking hell! this is the exakt same problem I just experienced! I opened the book, thrilled to start reading, really liked the beginning and all of a sudden it stops in the middle of a sentence and starts a new chapter! I thought it was weird but guessed it was some new style he was trying, but then it kept cutting sentences and the story didn't amke any sense at all. Logged on here and found out I'm not the only one who's experiencing this problem. I sure as hell hope the book store takes the book back.
"Someone must have slandered Josef K., for one morning, without having done anything truly wrong, he was arrested."
"Jemand musste Josef K. verleumdet haben, denn ohne dass er etwas Böses getan hätte, wurde er eines Morgens verhaftet"
Was your copy wrote by Victor Sheely?
send me one of these misprinted ones, and i will send you a trade paper copy from here in the states, if you want. i probably couldnt get to it until the first of next month, though.

If the book store refuses to take it back or if I can't find my receipt (have not yet found it) I would be glad to make an exchange:)

I'll send you a PM right now with further details, since my reciept is as lost as Sarah Palin.
You're my hero for doing this:)

OK guys,
I experience the same problem, but you just have to start the book by the end and read it like a manga, from right to left...
That's so funny. I posted a question about differences between french and english edition (Vintage Books). Now I've got my answer.
ah, really? How was I supposed to figure that out? haha! I can't check if you're right about this because I sent my copy away allready. I guess atomos can answer that when it arrives though. If it is true I went through a lot of hustle in vain haha.

Hi ross14,
I think you were not supposed to understand. I did because I read Survivor in a french edition before, years ago. Since it's my favorite book, I decided to read it again, but in original version.
When I started to read the vintage edition, I thought my english was not good enought (it wasn't make sens), but then I remember that in the french edition, the pages and chapters were countdown, like page 280, then page 279, then 278...
So I told myself, that maybe a good employe of the week in these publishing compagny had the great idea of puting all the pages in the right order... How funny. is it.
I came to these forum to ask if there was a mistake in my english copy, or if the original version was actually written that way, different than the french edition.
Then I read these thread, and I understood that Chuck did not.
really funny, no ?
i got the book today, and it cuts off on virtually every fucking page mid-sentence. if you fuckers made heads or tails out of anything that looks like that, you deserve a fucking trophy

I have exactly the same issue, people say the book is supposed to start on page 289 chapter 47 and the pages count down... but mine don't and I have pages back to front etc...
