is survivor better than fight club?
2 anyone out there interested i think survivor was much interesing and intruiging 2 read than fight club. They are both excellent but i feel inclined 2 say that my favourite until now is survivor.
im half way through llullaby and its getting better.
i think survivor is funnier and deals with some deeper issues of identity and humanity
As much as I love fight club I would have to say Survivour is my favourite, am just about to read it again. When I first read it, it blew me away I had never read anything like it.
i feel the same way...
it absolutely blew me away and i read even quicker than fight club even though its nearly twice as long
Fight Club the movie ruled, but I enjoyed Survivor much more than Fight Club the book. It has a LOT more social commentary and little insights, and all those wonderful cleaning tips!

chuck should release a cash in "the book of very common cleaning tips", he must know them all or have a note of them or something....
its a really close call, which is better....? i think the way survivor counted down and you already knew what was going to happen made it more exciting to read. but then again, i think the "we are the middle children of history" speech and others like it made fight club. sorry people, im bailing out, i cant call it....
fight club is my favorite of all his books. This, however is simply beccause I related the most to that book, the others never were able to do that as much. Still survivor is a close second, and arguably could be thought of as a better book.
hey madmind
how the fuck is survivor twice as long as fight club
and yea fight club and survivor are both so damn close at bein his best
although for some reason i liked lullaby a lot too
then choke then invisible monsters
the whole "best books" list of his always changes for me on random days
even tho i will always think survivor his best
the next ones always change
so here i go...
i'm haLf the way to home...

Survivor is a much more intresting book than Fight Club. It is more involved with humanity and a better read. The issues adressed in Survivor top those in Fight Club and Survivor equals in a a better book.
In my opinion,.
I agree. Survivor over Fight Club. You guys pretty much summed it up, so I really have nothing more to say.
Don't be a dick.
Survivor is HUGLY better than Fight Club. In fact, Survivor is my favorite Chucky P. book and Fight Club is my least. When I read Fight Club... it just seemed empty.
i dunno people! i just can't say...
in space the stars are no nearer
P-H, I like your sig.
...different not better...
I think I like Survivor better than Fight Club.
and i failed in life,
because you crushed me with your hands.
thank you fetology for having god in your avatar.
i love you now.
i cant accurately judge which one i liked better, because i saw fight club the film before reading it. so it changed the experience of the novel by the time i got to it.. survivor seems like it was better to me, but a big part of that could be because i didnt have the entire storyline in my mind already.. so, i dont know.
and the cleaning tips..omg. i wanted to go through and highlight each one..
i would so buy a book of everyday cleaning methods.

Now that I think about it... Fight Club was horrible.
I was one of the people that saw the movie Fight Club before I read the book. Even then I actually read all of his other books before finally picking up fight club. Survivor was the first one that I picked up, and I really enjoyed it. Then Choke, Invisible Monsters, Lullaby, and then Fight Club.
I'd have to say though, that I think Fight Club is by far the most unorganized of his books. That doesn't mean it wasn't a great book, it was, I really loved it, but overall I'd have to say that Survivor was better written, and more powerful. If I had to rank his books in the order I liked them most, it'd probably be:
1.) Choke
2.) Survivor
3.) Invisible Monsters
4.) Fight Club
5.) Lullaby
6.) Diary
I would like to comment though, that had I read Fight Club first, it'd probably be much higher, probably second. And the only reason Lullaby is in fourth is because I really think that the first four were just so amazing and fresh. Lullaby was a great book, and I really enjoyed reading it, and again, had I read that before some of the others I'm sure it'd be a couple spots higher. Diary however, will still stay at number six. Not because it was a bad book, but because it wasn't on par with the rest.
No

1)Choke (I enjoyed this book the most)
1)Survivor (This book was alot better on second reading)
1)Invisible Monsters (This book played with my heart strings so much)
2)Fight Club (it got me into chuck's stuff and will always have a place in my heart)
2)Lullaby (I've only read this once. I look forward to reading it again)
3)Diary (this was a great book, but it was more for my mum than it was for me. I dont think ill read this one too much in the future compared to his others. Maybe more when im 40)
And Survivor in my opinion is better than fightclub. And would make a better movie. (NOTE: Fight club is my favourite movie thus far)

Yah, I saw the movie before everything, then started his books with Survivor and so on, with Fight Club being last, not including Diary, and I definately thought Survivor was better written.
if i wrote a movie id think, how am i going to top this. then like chuck id write survivor........the end really!!!!!!!!!!
ps ive been drinking alot so i may be wrong

They r both great but i liked survivor more... i agree with the empty thing, but it isnt my "least" fav book either... fight club is probably my second or third fav... i didnt really like lullaby that much, but i didnt read it thouroughly either...

(I would have put a kewl palahniuk quote... but that would be weird)
i'm new to Chuck's books. I am buying them and reading them in order of release though, and so far I am halfway through Invisible Monsters. Fight Club vs Survivor? Tough, but I am going to have to run with Survivor.
Obviously Fight Club was break-thru material and super original, but the writing is much more refined in Survivor. I love 'em both, but Surivor's "puzzle" like construction makes it compelling for multiple readings. I was blown away after discovering the message boards and their take on the hidden endings and plot twists. I would really like to see a film adaption of this book as well.
So far I'm not totally jiving with Invisible Monster, but like his previous books, I am guessing I need to finish it entirely and then ponder it for a while. I can't wait to read Choke.
Wam, for being new (i am too, but not to his books) i totally agree with u

yah... i had my sister translate that for me - it is the best when he goes to the tombs and hears them, etc...

I've read FC and Lullaby and loved them both.
Just 40 minutes ago I bought Survivor (in Bulgarian (that's a language)) and after reading these comparisons I just can't wait to start reading it.
...grooooovy...

Have you read just those two so far? I like Survivor better as well but I wouldn't say its more interesting per se. Its more a matter of personal taste and interest really.
