I looked through some of the posts and tried to find something similar to this but I couldn’t, and I’m at school so I don’t have all the time in the world to sift through the forum. So I’m sorry if this was already posted 

I think my friend may have a bad copy of Survivor? I would see if mine is the same but I don’t have my copy with me today.

In her book, it starts with like, chapter 47 and the last page number. And counts down, and when you open the back of the book, there is chapter one.

She doesn’t know whether you’re supposed to actually start with chapter 47… or go to the back and start with 1 and just read her book backwards. It’s chuck, you really can’t know what to expect. Haha.

So I figured I’d help her out by asking this hereeee, and just in case my copy is the same way

Yeah.
how is this supposed to work? Haha 

Sounds pretty reasonable, I wouldn't give it much worry.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to read it as is -- just for future reference.

because I looked it up on google and found a short review and at the end saying to be sure and read it from chapter 47 - 1.

just in case you ever decide to read it or anything.

My God, I have to try that. This whole time I thought Chuck had gone off the deep end and written some kind of experimental thing that just made no sense. I'm going to re-read it this weekend and see if I like the story better.

it's how the story is told, goof. the plane is crashing so he's counting down his story until it crashes.

and big s has it !!

and, yes, monkey knows that too

hey, loudnoises--i'd say shana, but we already have a shana here--welcome to the cult. chuck prides himself on using a brand new storytelling device with each and every book. like in IM, the story is told like a fashion magazine. rant is told as an oral biography via statements from various people who knew cassey buster. and survivor is told into a black box from the ending clear back to the beginning.

anyway, welcome to the cult. we certainly have thick personalities here, but it's mostly jovial humor, in good nature and all of that. oh, and tell your friend to join.

.

so now for the dissection:
what brought you here. which government agency to you work for. in my best homer simpson impersonation of shaking a clenched fist toward you: stop collecting secrets!!

so whyd you join and what other authors do you love. if you started a new member's thread, i missed it. if you havent, that'd be a good place to start..

tolerable. math is math, and i dont really need it, but no one told me that until the midterm. you would think the counseling staff would know what you need to get X degree. at least i would think so. then again, these are the same people who told me i could get a teaching credential in english and other "arts and letters" things with a bachelor of science degree. morons. thanks to stephen graham jones for having lunch with me while he was in town and answering all my college questions.

lit class is fun, i guess. but its a discussion course, and no one wants to talk, and/or never reads the material, so we get broken up into groups, and since, you know no one read it, and since no ones discussing it, that goes a real long way.

modern art... eh, i dont know. the teacher seems to think that everyone there absolutely has a hard on for modern art, because she does, obviously. all i can say to that, is at least it's not classical art, because that all looks the same to me. i couldnt tell one artist from another.

uhm, if you really wanna know, I came hereee because
well. at school during my computer class I'd always get done really early and have a lot of free time and I just wanted reviews on some chuck books that I've already read. I love hearing/reading what other people thought of a book, so I googled it and it brought me here.
anyways, I just kept coming back and reading forums, and then one day I figured i'd join. and I just wanted an excuse to, so i used the 'why do people like diary' one. I just wanted to know if I missed something while reading it!
so that was my first post/ haha. yeah. I've posted a few times. not too many though.

hmm, government agency? lol.

and yeah, I like sarah collins. she wrote The Hunger Games.
and I really like Russell Brand's biography.
other than them and chuck, I haven't really read anything besides the twilight saga. haahahaha.
recommend me stuff! I'm gonna go to mckays and trade out soon Smile

annnnd yeah, Ive read Rant and IM and stuff, and I never really noticed how he uses a different way to tell the story in each book, ijust didn't know
and me, I wouldve probably started as is, but she wanted me to be sure
haha

but yeah, I'm starting survivor today Smile I'm excited

i could literally spend an hour recommending reads i've come across over the years that have meant a lot to me. in fact i did, this this thread:

http://chuckpalahniuk.net/forum/1000009/suggestions-please

.

im not normally so much of a pussy to impersonally paste a link to another post in another thread, and it's not because i'm lazy, but rather, that was a long ass fucking post.

anyway, welcome and have fun. ask questions if they arise. play, read. all that.
