Research Project
I'm in a senior Thesis class and we have to do a poster presentation and research paper on something literature related.
Anyway, broadly, I chose isolation in three Palahniuk novels: Fight Club, Lullaby, and Diary. Those are the only novels I've read by him and time is limited, so he told us to write about works we were already familiar with.
For my poster presentation, I plan point out what the characters in the novels do to deny or "cure" their isolation and then relate it to real world scenarios, but it's kind of difficult to do, I think. I plan on comparing fight club to competitive sports, as an example. Anyone think that'll fly? Any body have any suggestions for me?

Hmm... FC does have something in common with sports. Sport is "group activity"=obviously a good way not to be alone. BOTH Project Mayhem and Fight Club are people doing something together, being a part of something. FC/PM are extreme ways to escape isolation. Also, notice that the Narrator only has 3 people in his life through the book: Bob, Tyler and Marla. Maybe the boss. Not sure. We have no words of other friends or family members of the Narrator.
