How much do you quote?
Most people I know who have seen the film or read the book and liked/understood it, will occasionaly start quoting it. For instance, a good friend will go to people "Hows that working out for you", pretty much out of the blue. And another friend was on a plane and got told to stop quoting Fight Club; the bit he was quoting was the single serving friend part. And I often qoute the middle children of history, or the abandoned superhighway speil.
So how much do you or your friends quote? Do you get told to stop much?

i quote chuck quite often, but now that most of my friends have seen fight club and read at least oen of his books, they understand and maybe even appreciate the quotes.
"crew: preventing silent, naked plays on a dark, empty stage"
Whats up everyone this is my first post!
"If our fathers were our models for God, and our fathers fail, then what does that tell you about God." I think it's the way he says it but that lines amazing.
And the most true one..."The things you own end up owning you"
lots
We're the culture that cried wolf.
I quote Chuck a lot more often silently than I do out loud.
I am a columnist for my high school paper and I wrote a particulary angry opinion about how our administrators were acting like inexcusably large jackasses. So I got called down to the Assistant Principal's office and bitched at for ten minutes or so. About three of four minutes in something hit me--if this were happening to me six months ago I'd be pretty broken up about it., but "After fight club, everything else in your life gets the volume turned down."
"Do you have 846 pounds of zinc? I don't!" -- The Laz.
"I was almost Six On Tha Dot. What a mistake that would have been." -- Six On The Dot
i've been know to quote Chuck every now and then. but i neve say where the quotes from or what. just say the quote and leave people in mystery
I usually quote crap a lot. either FC, Simpsons. but other sources too.
Not meaning to hyjack, but how familiar is everyone with the original Robocop movie? Cuz I quoted some stuff from there, and no one got it. A bunch of the bad guys from that movie are on tv shows now, and thought it was topical. Guess not.
Fuckloads, my little space monkies...
i quote things in general all the time. don't know how often i quote chuck, b/c really the most quotable quotes in chuck novels esp. are inside jokes, and so explaining them after you say just the catchphrase gets to be a pain in the ass.

Wow. This little thread got CRAZY. People telling me to abuse my girlfriend, people showing an alarming lack of respect for women as a whole, people questioning my masculinity in some kind of bizarre machoistic pissing-contest. Hell, I even got called stuffy.
I rarely quote out loud. I quote to myself almost constantly, but I don't say it, because I'd feel like an unoriginal fucking wannabe wanker. I don't know. I suppose I feel like if you go around quoting someone all the time, you're just trying to look cool. "Look at me, I read a book. Fucking wow."
*shrug* No offense or anything, I just think it's a bit silly. I mean, I can't help but quote stuff in my head, it's just what comes to mind, I'm really into it, but I'm not going to say it, because that would just be a bit... trite? I dunno...
I try to have my own thoughts whenever possible. Although I do still tend to say "Mmmm, beer..." on occasion.
alot
does it count if you see (or hear) the quote in your head (when the time is apporpriate) but you dont say it aloud?

i quote stuff in my mind all the time. and this weekend i was at a party with a bunch of people whole also read fight club, and they were all trying to "outquote" eachother. kind of amusing. recently i've also started to quote blithe spirit alot...
anyone who knows what blithe spirit is gets a cookie
"crew: preventing silent, naked plays on a dark, empty stage"
I quote the movie and book all the time. Fight Club just fits best with life at the moment when I need to say something funny.
I say "Skinny guys fight till they're burger." all the time whenever someone calls me skinny.
When I walk by people I'll mutter, "Now, a question of etiquette... as I pass do I give you the ass or the crotch?"
I'll make up shit like "I am Jack's enlarged testicles." But, I use "I am Jack's raging bile duct all the time."
If God takes life, he's an indian giver.
the one chuck line i quote above all others (usually to myself, however), is "put a gun against my head and paint the wall with my brains."

Insomnomaniac, I'm with you. After I made my first post in this thread about how I do lots of "mental quoting" it occured to me, I also say the "put a gun to my head" line a lot.
"Do you have 846 pounds of zinc? I don't!" -- The Laz.
"I was almost Six On Tha Dot. What a mistake that would have been." -- Six On The Dot
i try not to say that out loud too much though...my parents especially start prying into my life a lot more when i say shit like that.

I quote FC all the time, and there's always a few lines funning through my head. whenever i walk past someone and im in a Fight Club mood, i think to myself "Now a question of etiquette. As i pass, do i give you the ass or the crotch?" I ALWAYS ask people "how's this or that working out for you", like ain a facetious tone. jokingly of course. Whats great is that most people i encounter are to stupid to take anything away from fight club besides the fighting, so anyone i talk to has only seen it once and i can freely quote FC without them knowing... that just lets me do it more
when i started school this year and i was supposed to say what i enjoyed i said self-improvement. 3 people laughed.

*Dances on the spot whimpering 'ohmigodohmigod'* "
hmmmm, it seems i quote the same lines a lot of other people do.
"how's that working out for you?" is one i use, but i'm surprised at how often i actually get to say, "being clever?" after it and keep it in context. pretty much if you say anything i might consider 'clever' to my face you're gonna hear this line.
mentally i do this a lot more. i find myself more and more thinking 'i'm thinking maybe the last thing i need is another woman' whenever my girlfriend does something annoying.
not even Kurt Vonnegut sticks in my brain like Chuck. i can read an entire book by somebody else in a few sittings and when i'm done i'll still be seeing certain things in life through the eyes of Chuck.
yes, perhaps The Cult is a good name for this site.

i wonder if those three people got it, or just thought you were being silly. either way, i think it's great you just made that reference, and didn't explain it.
ALWAYS, quite sad actually........even more sad when the person I'm quoting the lines to has no friggin idea what I'm talking about.......I'm pretty sure they live under a rock
Human kind cannot bear too much reality...
You are the music while the music lasts- T.S Elliot
I think I must have mentioned this before, but now that I'm furnishing my house and shop in IKEA, I can't help thinking (and occasionally saying): "I wasn't the only slave to my nesting instinct. The people I know who used to sit in the bathroom with pornography, now they sit in the bathroom with their IKEA furniture catalogue". A nice quote to say to the people shopping next to you there, by the way.

If any, "the illusion of safety"
though I replace 'safety' with 'security' when I'm talking about certain past indiscretions
It's Not Fight Club, But whenever somebody starts whining I about something I say to them "Kill yourself"
Palahniuk and Miike.
GODS!
I do it every few days, sub-conciously. I usually start with...'I am Jack's... lack of enthusiasm' I can't even remember if that's a quote actually.
Few people understand.
These days I have a bruise low on my cheek, almost on the jawline, that make-up cannot quite cover. When people ask me about it, I say "I fell down some stairs.'' It's rather sad 'cause nobody gets it -and my students give me weird looks.
