For those who have seen the movie and read Fight Club, my question is...did you like the ending to the movie or the book better?

Better? Probably the movie, but only because of the soundtrack. However I liked the book better as a whole.

Same here. I watched the movie before I knew there was a book; I don't think I would have understood the book as well if I hadn't seen the movie first. The movie ending was better in my opinion, but I think the book focused more on the relationship with Marla.

Appalling, but it's amazing how many people say that.

The book is better by miles. Although the film is good and relatively accurate, it just doesn't compare.

I think the book is better overall, but I don't know, I really liked the movie.

I watched the movie before I read the book. In my opinion, I would have prefered to read the book first. When you read any piece of literature, the most beautiful thing is that you can perform shows in your head. Each character, along with the plot and the setting is created for you but it renders you to create this image in your own imagination and have it performed in your head. Now, having watched the movie first, my mind is forced to focus on Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, Helena Bonham Carter, (etc., including Meatloaf!) performing these acts throughout the book. Ruins the imagery. I would have rathered the other way around. Read the book, evolve a depiction myself, and see what other forms people have thought of in a film adaptation. However, the film was pretty accurate and I loved it. One of the best film adaptations of a book. I still say, leave the literature alone, Hollywood. Let your mind do the becoming. Create something beautiful.

Personally, I read the book after watching the movie, and that really helped me. I think Edward Norton did a great job at Narrating the movie, which gave a personality and a voice for when I read the book. I actually enjoyed how it was narrated a lot, and continue to use a similar voice / narration style when I read new books. It helps me stay interested.

That being said, with Fight club being my favorite movie. Its hard to say. Overall I'm a visual person, I prefer to see and Hear something, then to read it. Which is why when I read, I almost turn the book into a movie in my head. So I guess overall, the Movies Ending made more sense, but I really did like the books ending better.

Edward Norton did an amazing job narrarating the movie. Definitely a great cast. But what I'm trying to say is, why take on another personality or voice, initially? I mean, see how your mind takes on the story first and then explore other views. I don't know. I'm just really big on imagery.

That's true, I wonder how I would've originally visualized it if I hadn't seen the movie first..

I liked the book's ending better, although it just wouldn't have worked in the movie. The bleaker idea of him being stuck in a mental hospital with space monkeys all around him waiting for Tyler to come back appeals to me more.
