Favorite Scene In Fight Club
My favorite is the lye burning scene
The film version of the Raymond K Hessel scene gets me everytime. I don't know how old most of you are, or what your personalities are like, but i need to watch that scene once in a while to kick my ass into gear. Life's too damn short to waste doing something you don't like and not persuing your goals.
...says Kareem, while sitting at his job that he hates. Christ I need to get out of this place.

Mine is, far and away, in the book when they're at the beach and Tyler sits in the palm of perfection:
What Tyler had created was the shadow of a giant hand. Only now the fingers were Nosferatu-long and the thumb was too short. But he said how at exactly four-thirty the hand was perfect. The giant shadow hand was perfect for one minute, and for one minute Tyler had sat in the palm of a perfection he’d created himself.
You wake up and you’re nowhere.
One minute was enough, Tyler said, a person had to work hard for it, but a minute of perfection was worth the effort. A moment was the most you could expect from perfection.
You wake up, and that’s enough.

inkwell - i couldn't agree with you more. i have a habit of pulling Fight Club off the shelf whenever i see it in a bookstore and reading that part. i used it for a paper i had to write in one of my english courses on imagery too.
in the movie - one of my favorites is the faceshot of Marla with thick smoke slowly pouring out of her mouth
"After all, each one of us is little more than the meager residue of the infinite unrealized possibilities of our lives." -JGB
i am a big fan of the dildo seen in the book.. i just like reading the word dildo. i always get a kick out of that. i also like the scene where jack is talking to marla when she finds a lump about having the "foot cancer"
in the movie, i love the ending. the buildings collapsing, and the pixies song, and jack and marla holding hands; its fucking perfect.
and in the book, i love the foot cancer part too.

Man, you're all crazy... the best scene was when Bruce Willis sacrificed himself to save the world!!! And Liv was all crying and her dad was singing that song? Michael Bay is the shizznet!
I was here. Then I wasn't. Then I was again.
I like the part at the end where Jack all wide eyed and focused says to Tyler "my eyes are open" and shoots himself in the mouth.
I like the many wee things. Like when Marla says "found a cigarette" or "who are you talking to?" and then Tyler just says "Shut up" and slams the door. Brilliant. And also when Tyler and Jack are on the plane and Tyler says: Now the question is, which do I give you, the crotch or the ass."
But favourite scene.... I think the lye burning is really the best but also the destrpying-something-beautiful scene. And the scene in the car before they let go. Hmmm... I really can't decide, the whole movie/book is just too damn good.

What the hell are u talking about?

Yeah, you're right, the scene where Willis is trying to kill affleck for sleeping with Liv was much better. If only Bruce had been there with a sawed-off for the Bennifer fiasco.
Poor Ben...
Poor Bruce...
Poor us...
I was here. Then I wasn't. Then I was again.
Parka, which one is that?
'Cus there's the same, innit?
And, my favourite scene?
There's bits that stick with me.
Like, in the book, when they're talking about the fish that creep up into your urethra?
That bored me a little when I was reading it, now it's just priceless.
I also have an inexplicable love for the bit where Marla's talking about her ex's, and then, our friend the narrator says something like "i wonder if I'll be one of those stories?"
In the film... Either one of the bits where Jack is at work after Fight Club has started, or the end, or Raymond.
Best scene to me is with raymond. Just awesome.

They are the same, I think Michael Bay just made one uber-film comprised of video mush sound bytes and explosions and sweaty celebrities and now he just cuts and pastes from that to make whatever approximates the title of the picture he's supposed to be making.
And of course, no one cars to correct him.
I was here. Then I wasn't. Then I was again.
I love the one when Tyler and Jack have there first fight outside the bar.
Book:
I love the pillow talk they changed for the movie, "I want to have your abortion."
The purfume sabotage scene, wish that had made the film.
When Marla and Jack end up wrestling in her mother's fat.
Movie:
The scene where he kicks his own ass to finish off framing his boss.
When Tyler freaks and chews him out for shooting at his 'imaginary friend' by 600 lbs of high explosives.
Shooting himself and then refusing medical attention, 'one tough son-of-a-bitch,' way funnier than ending up in the hospital.
The single frame of a penis as the buildings come down.
Also, since seeing the movie, I notice the cigarette burns in the theater, never noticed them before.
In both, I like the fact that every time I go back to it, I notice details I missed before. I think that's true of all my favorite books and movies.
When we call soccer 'football' the terrorists have won.
Book: "You boiled my mother!"
Movie: "Do not look. I cannot go when you look."
Oh, and the cigarette burns part too. I too now notice the burns and wait for the second one.
i love seeing jared leto getting his face smashed by norton
i love the scene with the bar tender that tells norton that he is tyler durden while some guys in the background are chanting "his name is robert paulsen"
i love seeing tyler getting smacked around by lou and then just spewing all of that blood onto him... "YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE I'VE BEEN!!!"...and that sick laugh...classic...
antes ser rico e saudavel do que pobre e doente
I just love all the fights, but i wish they would show more fights
i like the raymond part too. mostly because until i saw that part, i though i was the only person who wanted to shout 'run forrest run!' at someone running from me.
Basically all of the chapter 24, when the narrator goes to fight every guy in the fight club, and he is more and more destroyed, just priceless.
Also the perfume sabotage scene.
"It is not reason, more or less furnished, but will that makes the world march"
I am alone.
